What you did today

I'm trying to learn a bit about making sprites, photoshop, gif animtions, pixel art etc. Skills for making a 2D game some time... maybe.

Learnt how to animate objects today to a simple gif, work with transparency etc. The fruit of those labors is the simple animation on the left.

It includes more work than one would think.

I made some sprites back on a Commodore 64 back in the day for a game me and my brother were going to make that involved ninjas.

Good luck with your project!

I cannot - yet I must. How do you calculate that? At what point on the graph do "must" and "cannot" meet? Yet I must - but I cannot! ~ Ro-Man

Thank you. I'll need luck, three times as much time and the skill sets of at least two highly trained professionals

I'm realizing that I need to ask my boss for at least one day fully off per week (I haven't had a day off since I fully started). Getting kinda tiring.

The most I have ever worked was 21 days straight and the shortest day was 10 hours. Tell your boss either he gives you vacation or he'll have an employee that will soon mess up.

Just celebrated the beginning of my weekend with 5 drop-sets of 110 lbs dumbbell flyes combined with 120 lbs barbell rows standing close grip (hands touching) and 150 lbs barbell shoulder presses. Weight lifting is the only thing that makes me feel good lately.

And now I'll continue my celebration with a good nightly meal and a couple of hours of gaming.... I'm thinking of good 'ole Unreal Tournament.

No-girlfriend-indicator.

Had I lifted those weights, someone would've had to call the ambulance.  :aiee:

Not if you don't drop them on your head.

Spent the last couple of weeks turning my concrete rubbish tip of a yard into a concrete garden, I've got a fair few plants and baskets out there now, table and chairs, simple pleasures.  Me and a couple of the bastards and broken things I know christened it with a BBQ and a moderate piss up, twas good :)

I've been cleaning out my garage, then putting in springboard flooring, and now I need to lay down these large foam mats.  We are setting up a little gymnastics/dance studio in our garage, and 20 by 12 feet in size.  This dance studio that my daughter attended shut down a couple years ago, and they asked if they could store the equipment in our garage.  It has been awhile and the owners moved away, so I decided to make use of it.  It's been quite a bit of work.  I am waiting on a roll of velcro I had to order to keep the mats together, and I also need to figure out how to cut the foam mats.  The are very thick and I want it to cut smoothly.

110 dumbells wouldn't make it over my head...or if they did, they'd immediately drop to floor again as my arms came out of their sockets. ;)

Hurlshot, that's an awesome thing, making a dance studio in the garage for your daughter. :)

Technically it's only about 3 hours a day (for most days), but it's still.... tiring. And tomorrow is about 13 hours or so. Starting in 8 hours.

In other news: Tonight I just had that odd feeling of being to alone and unwanted strike. Probably a bipolar reaction.

Had some really weird dreams running, being a single parent and an oddball mix of conspiracy-thriller stuff while trying to organise things with dream-friends who also had kids.  That was.. a bit bizarre.

Stumbled awake, got a cup of tea.. then my sister's all "fix my laptop! the screens flickering oddly!"

Just finished my shift. Bloody hell it was hot! Eight glasses of water and didn't need to pee once!

I'm now back at home, drinking a fentiman's rose lemonade.

Soon as I have a wash I'm going back out to the pub.

What do you work with Wals?

Civilization, in fact, grows more and more maudlin and hysterical; especially under democracy it tends to degenerate into a mere combat of crazes; the whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, most of them imaginary. - H.L. I often solve work problems in my sleep, and get the answer in a dream analogy.

Just ordered this book from Amazon.

Its not just an ordinary book but the diary of Peter Hagendorf, a mercenary who participated in the thirty year war, 1618-1648. In the book he describes the battles, his injuries (he was hit two times in the chest by matchlock musket bullets!), the horribly long marches across Germany (at the end of the war he had covered 20.000 Kilometers by foot), soldiers marauding cities, famine, even some details about his personal life like his wifes illness and the death of his children.

And all that in beautiful old German (which is kind of hard to read sometimes, I have to admit)

I wonder if you'd mind posting some quotes from it?
