Dalliance5
I loved the eldritch pistol borne by one of the adventurers (Shadrach) in China Mieville's novel 'Perdido Street Station'. If you haven't read it, I highly recommend it. In fact, it would be nice to see elements of the 'New Weird' fantasy sub-genre in Project Eternity.
Terror K
No for me. Not unless they are very, very rare, perhaps only made and used by one particular race, and to use them you'd have to somehow train in them specifically. I've always preferred the more pure fantasy style over the semi-steampunk, dwarves with flinklock rifles type of deal.

Oerwinde
Bring on a Renaissance setting. Gives me hope for that new world/colony building/exploration/diplomatic rpg I want so badly. 9 The area between the balls and the butt is a hotbed of terrorist activity. Sensuki
No I don't. But I wouldn't be disgruntled if they were and the game (and combat) was still awesome.
Wintersong
Yes because Cain said so. Also because while it seems ok to bash elves and dwarves for being overused, traditional medieval fantasy setting doesn't receive the same treatment. New IP; riiiiight? Bring in the soul-powered muskets!!!
OldRPG'sAreGood
I'm rather indifferent about this, as I wouldn't mind firearms, but well, I'm not going to miss them either if they're not implemented. Though I voted yes, just for the sake of it. Edited September 18, 2012 by OldRPG'sAreGood 1 Dude, I can see my own soul.....
hiptanaka
Yes, simply because I wouldn't want to interfere with their vision of the game and world, and Tim Cain already said it will have guns. I trust them to make a great game, from what I've heard so far.
jediwolf
Never. Fantasy games shouldnt have any firearms! And yes, I dont like Arcanum.
Clammo
Whilst I'd prefer it not to have, I pretty much thought this was a done deal. Either way a proper old school style ismoetric RPG is far too good and rare an opportunity to pass up.
Posbi
I don't have any problems with them using arquebuses or early muskets as long as they realize that they are heavy, slow and not exactly accurate over longer distances. There should be advantages and downsides factored in. If you shoot at an enemy who is fifty meters away the penalties for this should be way higher with a firearm than with a crossbow or bow. However, if you shoot at an enemy who is only fifteen meters away the damage you do with your egg-sized projectile should be horrendous. Secondly, black powder should be an issue: do you have enough of it? Are you keeping it dry? Thirdly, is your firearm rifled or is it a smoothbore? The former would be more accurate but do less damage. The latter would be lucky to hit the broadside of a barn but do, well, the damage of a broadside. Ups and downs, people. Ups and downs. Cryticus
Yes, I really didnt understand that every fantasy must be keep for thousend of years with no progress because this somehow destroy something. I trust obsidian that if they want to put them then they know what are they doing. And i loved arcanum
Sensuki
I think it would be interesting to at least witness the rollout of firearms. I dunno if anyone has read Lian Hearn's Otori series, and I'm not saying it's the best series either, I read it when I was a teenager but it was cool how like Takeo and his province considered non-government firearms illegal and they aimed to try and take control of as much of the firearms market as they could in the event of a civil war (although they kept most of them in storage IIRC). Those sort of dynamics would be interesting to explore, the change in dynamics of combat with the rollout of gunpowder. Although depending on how magic works I guess this wouldnt matter as much. Miquel93
Yes, I want firearms. I'm tired of those fantasy settings that are in a static time period "ad eternum". Besides, guns aren't precisely modern, so it fits well with a "pure" fantasy setting. Edited September 18, 2012 by Miquel93
Chronos
I have nothing against it, unless firearms should be included on purpose to satisfy this request
lolaldanee
some early ones? why not? as long as they are not too advanced Edited September 18, 2012 by lolaldanee
mkreku
Yes, I would love to have the ability to shoot all those annoying magic users in the face. Swedes, go to: Spel2, for the latest game reviews in swedish!
DreamingVoid
Sure, why not? I'm usually against the introduction of firearms in an already established IP, but for a complete new one I'm all for it.
Kilroy_Was_Here
While the idea of firearms in a fantasy RPG can be wonky; I do want the game (which includes them) so I vote yes.
Crosmando
The danger is, they either need to go full steampunk to make it work. Otherwise it will just look like the guns in World of Warcraft, which are silly and jar the gameplay experience because while you have some species with a medieval society, and others with almost science-fiction level technology. Mentioning WoW again as an example of how trying to create extremely diverse/unique regions all in the same game backfires, because nothing fits and the world feels disconnected. They called it the "World" of Warcraft but it's really just dozens of isolated zones without any meaningful connection to each other. You walk out of a bustling tribal jungle filled with savage trolls and into an arid desert, there's no connection. What I mean is, in Arcanum there was technology like steam engines and gunpowder, but they explored the logical conclusion of that, industrialization was destroying forests, magic was becoming obsolete and clashing with modern society. In WoW there's no one saying "Well these gnomes have freakin helicopters and robots, and dwarves have rifles, and these are obviously superior technologies, so why hasn't the other cultures traded for these technologies or been conquered with them?" So if the game has guns, what is the consequence of that on the whole world? Edited September 18, 2012 by Crosmando

Infinitron
Since most "medieval fantasy" games actually have worlds that are more like early Renaissance Europe, the presence of primitive firearms makes perfect sense. Virgil
No, I think that firearms somehow don't work well in fantasy setting.
Poolp
Firearms.. then just primitive fire arms so that we don't have guys with shotguns exploding rogues and clos quarter combat guys... As long as we don't have some kind of gunblades, machine guns or sniper rifle^^
DCParry
Well, we are getting guns, which will be a nice twist I think. I look forward to how they are implemented. Hopefully I can be a musketeer.
