She still can't eat without getting pain in her pancreas, but it is supposed to get better within a few days. They still don't know what caused the pancreatitis, but for now she is on a super low fat diet (basically soup, veggies, and fruits) and we will see a specialist tomorrow. It's good to have her home, it has been an exhausting week. Thanks for the update Hurlshot! Happy she is home and prayers & light as you navigate next steps. Hope you are able to find some space to care for yourself too. Caregivers getting burned out is - in my experience - a concern too at times like this. Normally I wear a medium, but their mediums were like XL! Hung like a sack. Returned them and got a XS instead and still a bit baggy. But their jeans fit great. Anyway, I went to the dentist this morning and got my permanent crown molar. My jaw aches though. Then I readied our guest room for some guests arriving this weekend. It's one of the most painful conditions someone can have. I know a thing or two about pain, and I have to tell you it is excruciating. It's often associated with alcoholism, and the doctors often immediately assume you over-indulge. There are many many cases where the person has on discernable underlying reason. It's sometimes associated with gall bladder issues or sea food alergies or even allergies in general. I'll pray for the wife. The irony is, I have a lot of experience regarding pancreatitis, which is an immediately diagnosable condition (ie can't be faked), and the only reason I saw it is that I wanted to come here for the first time in weeks to wax poetic on a new drink I've discovered. I went to a jazz club in Hollywood a few days ago and had my first dirty martini. I've had many martinis over the years, but that was my first so-called dirty martini (where the olive brine is mixed with the gin or vodka in the martini). It was so awesome I've become addicted to them. Even though I've been cleaning up things in my life lately, I still drink a wee bit much more than I should. Anyhow, I was going to write a post about perfecting the ultimate 'dirty martini,' but instead I want to reassure you, if there isn't some terrible underlying reason for your wife, there's a good chance they'll isolate the trigger and she'll be okay. Take her seriously when she says it hurts. Hurlshort Posted September 29, 2012 Share Posted September 29, 2012 (edited) Thanks Cant. Today she saw her gastroentologist and he was livid at how little they did for her at the hospital. He immediately called them and asked for her blood to be sent to him so he could run more tests. He also prescribed medication that will help the pancreas rest, basically stopping the enzymes from working too hard that break things down (The meds were $500! Even after insurance, we paid $100). Of course this means she is now on a clear liquid diet, and will be until the doctor says she can eat food again. He says it could be an ulcer, but he wants to run a gamut of tests to figure it out. It is reassuring that he is taking it so seriously. She actually had a colonoscopy this summer from the same doctor, due to a family history of colon cancer, so he knows she isn't a heavy drinker or anything else really unhealthy. We are taking it day by day, I read that pancreatitis typically lasts 7-10 days, so hopefully we will see improvement by the end of the week, although the doctor doesn't want to give any timetable until he knows more. I broke her bed, which was pretty rotten anyway and when we moved to our new apartment we put three resident single beds together and worked out a solution to fill out the gaps between them.. Not ideal, but it worked and still works. Today we went to a big furniture store to look for beds.. Matresses, but Ukrainians are unfortunately quite short in general and I need a mattress that is at least 220cm long.. There wasn't a single one in my size, of course.. So we were just testing the softness of mattresses.. I just find that testing a bed is really hard to do fully dressed and the ones we tried.. Hmmm.. Too hard. I am really tempted to have my perfect bed from Denmark moved here, but I really don't like to pay a minor fortune for delivery.. Not just the losing season, but all that silly drama stuff. And if Tito signs to manage the Indians, I'm going to have start watching them a lot more often too. He wasn't perfect, but I miss Tito. Day warmed up quite a bit and had to rig up/point a fan to blow air into hub's gaming pc to keep GPU temp down. The case itself has no fans in it (don't ask) so he leaves it open, which is normally enough, but on warm days with a somewhat GPU-intensive game...heh. 1 “Things are as they are.
