HoonDing Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 Dragon Dogma TGS 2011 trailer This game is gonna rule I tell you. Supa dupa corny Hero? Check. Save the princesses from abominations? Check. Cleavage & stealthy gazes? Double Check! PS: Oh, and it has Dragons too. Looks terrible. The ending of the words is ALMSIVI.
Morgoth Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 Know what looks terrible? Rain makes everything better.
HoonDing Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 Androgynous characters in a medieval world aside, it's like they took every possible element from western fantasy and European mythologies and threw them into a melting pot without any thought whatsoever. Anyway, if it comes to PC I'll play it anyway. R00fles! The ending of the words is ALMSIVI.

Pidesco Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 Know what looks terrible? "Rest well this night, for tomorrow you sail for the kingdom of Daggerfall." "My hovercraft is full of eels!" - Hungarian tourist I am Dan Quayle of the Romans. I want to tattoo a map of the Netherlands on my nether lands. Heja Sverige!! Everyone should cuffawkle more. The wrench is your friend.
Morgoth Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 Lucas Arts hiring for couple of projects, including a Space Sim? Do it right this time LA. LA used to be such a great developer back in the 90s, but their latest effort, TFU2, was total garbage. I really hope they acknowledge that. Rain makes everything better.
Malcador Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 So it's going to be a Clone Wars game, meh, big deal. Why has elegance found so little following? Elegance has the disadvantage that hard work is needed to achieve it and a good education to appreciate it. - Edsger Wybe Dijkstra
Syraxis Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 (edited) Well if XSEED or someone else localizes it; I have a reason to buy a VITA. Edited September 15, 2011 by Syraxis
entrerix Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 i dont think we will see lucasarts make any more games as well as they did in the 90's. ever. its sad but i just don't think the people in charge over there value quality in their titles like they used to. side thought: dragons dogma looks very similar to demons souls. if it plays half as well as that game it will probably still be decent. my expectations though are for something more like that alien planet game... lost planet? i forget what it was called but it was clunky and had a terrible interface mucking up what could have been an ok game. so yeah, i think dragons dogma is going to be more like a D&D lost planet game than demons souls. still, i'll hold off judgement till the game gets released, it may end up being better than it looks Killing is kind of like playin' a basketball game. I am there. and the other player is there. and it's just the two of us. and I put the other player's body in my van. and I am the winner. - Nice Pete.

LA used to be such a great developer back in the 90s, but their latest effort, TFU2, was total garbage. I really hope they acknowledge that. I liked the Force unleashed 2...all Five minutes of it! (Recently played both the first and the second...I actually thought they were worth the money I paid...of course that's a LOT LESS than people payed for it when they were new). (edit: Yes, I exaggerated a little, TFU2 did take slightly longer than 5 minutes...but it WAS short. I also still thought it was worth what I paid for it). I'd love if they came out with a new X-wing type game. The old ones are bastiges to try to get running on Win 7 64 bit machines. I still haven't gotten X-wing alliance to run...I can get the game to run, but once it starts a mission it crashes...hard. Edited September 16, 2011 by greylord
Morgoth Posted September 16, 2011 Posted September 16, 2011 TFU series was impressive from a technical standpoint, but the rest was as soulless as George Lucas' Episode I-III. Heck, I didn't even like space shooters back in the day but that didn't stop me from finishing X-Wing Alliance thanks to a superb cast and mission design. Rain makes everything better.

I'd say the answer to that question is kind of like the answer to "who's the sucker in this poker game?"* *If you can't tell, it's you.

Orogun01 Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 Playing games and learning are not necessarily on opposite ends of the spectrum, you can learn while playing. But the approach is everything, first you learn the theory then you see it in application and your grasp of the knowledge solidifies. Plus I been playing games for a long time now and can't really say that they are all that educational, unless you count learning how to identify 30 different types of guns as useful knowledge. I'd say the answer to that question is kind of like the answer to "who's the sucker in this poker game?"* *If you can't tell, it's you.
greylord Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 Final Fantasy X HD remake coming to PS3 and Vita https://member.eu.square-enix.com/en/blogs/...laystation-vita No words on release outside Japan yet Does this mean they'll finally add PS2 backwards compatibility for your average PS3 now days? Or do you think it's a total remakes so PS2 isn't even a factor (I'm sort of hoping PS2 engine is still there in the game, but graphics upgraded to HD).
Morgoth Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 HD remake doesn't mean they completetly re-work the art. That would be too expensive. It just means that the engine is re-written for PS3 compatibility, and the res goes from SD to HD. Maybe they re-do the UI elements. And remaster the sounds. But that's about it. Rain makes everything better.

Its quite a bit more work in FFXs case if they don't want to get slammed. Theres still other elements in the game that look pretty uneven in HD resolution. sorophx Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 i didn't have ps2, so i'd buy the hd version if it ever comes to europe. it's not a very good FF game, to be honest. I'm actually quite surprised they didn't choose X-2 for remake Walsingham said: I was struggling to understand ths until I noticed you are from Finland. And having been educated solely by mkreku in this respect I am convinced that Finland essentially IS the wh40k universe.

Jaesun Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 I LOVED FF X (Except for the F%$$#@^ Chocobo Race for Tidus' ultimate weapon.), I am looking forward to this HD remake if we (US/Europe) can get one.
