aries101
I'm currently playing two old games -- Gooka - the mystery of Janatris (rpg) and a traditonal point and click adventure called Gilbert Goodmate - the Mushroom of Phungoria. Both are very nice and good games, I think. The story in both games are nice, the gameplay is nice, the characters are better in Gilbert Goodmate, graphics is not the best, but I can live with that. Scorewise Gooka, I'd give a 7/10 - Gilbert Goodmate around 8/10, maybe 8.5. Please support http://www.maternityworldwide.org/ - and save a mother giving birth to a child. HoonDing
Alice has a level where you symbolically rape your dead sister. Then there's a level where you're inside the mind of a child molester. It's not Silent Hill 2 level creepy but it's still pretty creepy when you think about it. How did you interpret the ending? The ending of the words is ALMSIVI. GreasyDogMeat
Wolfenstien 3-DDoom Doom 2 Duke Nukem 3-D Dark Forces Quake Quake 2 Heretic Hexen Dark Forces 2 A good order to do them as you are starting with the least complex game and moving up to the most impressive. Those games were all amazing for their times and I've loved them all, but I don't know how well they will hold up if you've never played any of them before. Wolf 3d in particular has aged really poorly. You might want to look up some source ports for these games. Wolf 3d has a nifty one that turns the sprites 3d and doom has some great source ports as well. I drool every time I see the id Super pack deal and then I remember I own each and every one of them. The only ones I haven't completed are the Commander Keen games. Edited July 2, 2011 by GreasyDogMeat
Gorgon
Dragon age 2. It's not so bad. Terrible acting here and there, but still enjoyable. Bos_hybrid
X3-Terran Conflict, with a bunch of scripts and mods installed. (Pirate Guild, Yaki Armada, NPC bailing, MBR, STO, DDTC) Playing as a pirate, good fun raiding Paranid ships. Unfortunately I just lost my home base(Ryu TL) and it's six escorts to a Paranid raid, which equals about 80mil in credits lost. Bloody Paranid, but at least I escaped. Mamoulian War
i've been thinking about taking a tour through the big shooters of yesteryear this summer this was the order i was thinking of doing them in: Wolfenstien 3-D Doom Doom 2 Duke Nukem 3-D Dark Forces Quake Quake 2 Heretic Hexen Dark Forces 2 So, should I change this order around at all? am i missing any obvious games that should be in there? I'd love to play the original system shock, but am still waiting for that to release on gog or steam also, if I were to throw crusader: no remorse in there, where should i put it? Hexen 2, Heretic 2, Shadow Warrior, Rise of the Triad, Serious Sam 1 and 2 missing on the list EDIT: I totaly forgotten about Spear of Destiny and Blood 1 and 2 Edited July 2, 2011 by Mamoulian War Sent from my Stone Tablet, using Chisel-a-Talk 2000BC. Walsingham
Finished second play through of Dead Money yesterday. It really is as awesome as I remembered. Big-ish Spoilers: Even though I know that Christine disappears and you can't speak to her after the vaut, I still went back into the Casino to try and find some traces of her as a keepsake. Also, even though I didn't emphasise playing with Dog I still find him powerfully engaging. "It wasn't lies. It was just... bull****"." -Elwood Blues tarna's dead; processing... complete. Tale
Amazon did something I've never seen before. They combined two seperate orders into one. My LOTR Extended Blu-Ray and Super Scribblenauts arrived in the same box, despite being placed 10 days apart. I always wanted them to do that. Anyway, the point of mentioning that is Super Scribblenauts arrived. So once I get my daily tickets from Steam sales, time to get time travelling dinosaurs. Morgoth
I tried playing Heavenly Sword today but this game just pisses me off. No 5 minutes in it I have to switch characters to that stupid child with the crossbow and shoot assassins. Well, except, you can hardly hit anyone since the controls are completely botched. It's like the designers are doing this on purpose. Rain makes everything better.

entrerix
ok, so after doing some gog shopping based on suggestions, this is what the list currently looks like. Wolfenstien 3-D Doom Doom 2 Rise of the Triad Heretic Dark Forces Hexen Duke Nukem 3-D Quake Blood Hexen 2 Dark Forces 2 Quake 2 this list takes me up through most of the majors, minus a few, until half life was released, at which point shooters stop being retro imo and instead begin the (d)evolution into the modern shooter we have today. If i were a more (less?) interesting person i would keep a journal or blog or something of my impressions as i journeyed through time here, but im not gonna do that. i'll just post here like always, its close enough (until the day all these forum archives are lost/destroyed) i'm already a few levels into wolfenstein 3d and am itching for some doom: i did not remember the monochromatic floors and ceilings in this game, hella retro, and yet the game is fairly playable despite its age. i remember somehow getting to the first boss when i was a kid, but we'll see if i can make it that far this time before boredom sets in Killing is kind of like playin' a basketball game. I am there. and the other player is there. and it's just the two of us. and I put the other player's body in my van. and I am the winner. - Nice Pete. LadyCrimson
Just putting in my own comment about how fun Divine Divinity was to play. :D I'm still playing DS3, altho I haven't been in much of a gaming mood in general the past few days, so not exactly a lot of time spent doing so. “Things are as they are. entrerix
finished wolfenstein and doom, these games are shorter than i remember. it helps that im looking at maps online though, getting lost was probably 90% of my playtime when i was 10. Killing is kind of like playin' a basketball game. I am there. and the other player is there. and it's just the two of us. and I put the other player's body in my van. and I am the winner. - Nice Pete. Malcador
Arma 2, fun with the editor. Why has elegance found so little following? Maria Caliban
Just putting in my own comment about how fun Divine Divinity was to play. :D It was. I always found it odd how many people considered it a Diablo clone. The gameplay is a hack-and-slash and it has the fixed iso cam, but there's an open gameworld, sidequests, the skill trees aren't limited by class... Beyond Divinity was decent but I've never finished the game. It felt far more linear and have to do battlegrounds to keep powerful annoyed me. Divinity II was pure fun. "When is this out. entrerix
the level design in doom 2 is positively baffling. using the map is required to make any progress. this can be seen as either a good thing or a bad thing. Nepenthe
Or is just the same in better picture? And Sound. At least the euro extended dvd for Fellowship was notorious for having a seriously dodgy DTS track, the kind with issues you could hear even without a proper HT setup, never mind with one. Semi-related, the biggest audio related revelations in gaming (from upgrades) were the blaster sounds flying over my head in kotor1&2, and Wrex's voice in ME1... Of course, irony would dictate that I can't play KOTORs with any kind of audio on my current setup. The xbox versions are too buggy on the 360, and the windows versions seem to hate my HDMI audio setup. Edited July 3, 2011 by Nepenthe You're a cheery wee bugger, Nep. Have I ever said that? Morgoth
I played Dungeon Siege 3 to a point today where I just stopped and uninstalled it. It's certainly well designed for this kind of genre, but there's just not enough diversity in the game that keeps me going. I guess Diablo 3 probably won't be better, so I think I'll just quit Hack'n Slash games alltogether. Rain makes everything better.
