What you did today

Ate some smoked duck for lunch with rice. It was good

Been exercising lately cause I've been getting fat. Went to the gym and did chest and back workout. Deadlifts are hard, but feels awesome when you're done. Did some interval walking/running on the treadmill.

Came home. Relaxed. No urge to play video games lately.

Not feeling too good today. I stopped by the VFW on the way home yesterday. One of guys there brought his son in, he had just returned from his second trip to Iraq. In four years in the Army he has spent 2 years and a month in Iraq over two tours and seven months in Afghanistan. God Bless him. He is one of the finest men I'll ever know. Anyway, the crowd at the VFW is a mixed bag. There are a few old Korea vets, a lot of Viet Nam vets, a handful of Gulf War vets and now our first Afghan/Iraq vet. One of the old guys went and bought a bottle of Old Crow and we spent the night drinking and trading stories. I ended up needing a ride home. I'm a little hung over today.

Tomatoes planted. Snoozed in the sun (it's a nice day). Forums & stuff. Lunch. Now I'm going back outside to listen to some tunes & read/snooze in the sun some more. Life is good.

Slept, got woken up by the GF wanting me to walk to the mall to drive her home because she felt woozy. Ate Sushi, put the munchkin down for her nap, debated the pros and cons of the monarchy with someone on facebook, then discussed the Canadian election. Made some croissants which the munchkin dubbed "MOON BREAD!" then came on here. Going to go shopping soon.

Slept. Ate oatmeal. Played some CiV. Weeded. Mowed the lawn. Showered. Marital relations. Snacked on some cheese. More CiV. Grocery shopping. Cooked dinner. Ate it.

I do enjoy making a nice shrimp scampi, but when I do, I find it difficult to not eat about 3/4ths of a pound of shrimp in one sitting. I think I need to make more linguini next time-- I was hoping that there would be something left that I could re-heat for lunch tomorrow.

Also, I'm beginning to think that fertilizing the lawn was a mistake. I put down some pellets mostly because they purported to prevent crabgrass from germinating, but the fertilizer they also contained is making the grass grow rather quickly, and now I need to mow more often.

Got up very early, before the rest of the house stirred. 'twas a lovely spring day so I took my pedigree Monte-Hund bitch for a long walk by the Thames (the Thames is very near the Schloss Monte). Das hund was intrigued by some swans, which quite properly scared the living daylights out of her.

I came back and watched the news, laughing evilly at the discomfort of the bien pensant British Left after the Royal Wedding and the imminent destruction of the 'Yes' camp in the AV referendum. My son then thrashed me on the Wii (one day he will be old enough to play RTS games whereupon the serve will be well and truly returned).

Having had an actioned-packed Sunday I turned my hand to making interesting sandwiches and drinking beer. I have consumed a wrap made of peri-peri chicken, Spanish omelette, manchego cheese, olives, lettuce, salsa and sour cream with garlic and chives. With a nice cold beer.

I am considering pottering about in the garden for a bit with junior before taking the tribe down the pub mit das hund. Later tonight I will get stuck into my Sons of Anarchy boxed set and go to bed late as tomorrow is a Bank Holiday for May Day. Life, all things being equal, is good.

Survived the wedding with the three exes after adopting the option of simply being insufferably smug about having been out with the three best looking women at the occasion! The resulting air of moon-faced benevolence left me free to socialise almost uninterrupted except by number three who was naturally annoyed that I wasn't a gibbering wreck. So she tried to make me feel guilty with over an hour of anecdotes about how rubbish I am, so I got drunk with her current fiancee, parting on excellent terms, which naturally made her practically incandescent with frustrated rage.

Anyway, am back home now, enjoying a glass of bad rum and smiling at the garden.

The Red Sox just scored two runs against Felix and I nearly fainted from shock.

Looks like another nice day, so after the ballgame I'm going to go for a cruise with the camera. Maybe with a deli sandwich in tow.

Man. How big is that sandwich?

I think you should go canoeing in a massive baguette.

I drank a little beer and listened to the Marlins game on my XM Radio while working on the Camaro. The bullpen almost choked on another one. They blew it last night.

Watched the 1st episode of The Voice (singing show...).

It has the terrible, too-much-filler format of all such shows (which I FF'd thru) but the actual parts where hopefuls sang to the backs of the famous-coaches chairs/heads was different. Since coaches couldn't see the singers, they were judging voice, not looks/style. Also, no terrible singers for mean-comedy value.

Beats American Idol, imo. Which isn't hard I suppose.

Slept for twelve hours. Woke to a bright spring day and a dead Bin Laden. Made corn beef hash, and fresh coffee. Life is good.

It never feels a good start to the day when you wake up with a snootful of half-congealed blood.

Still, it's the may bank holiday. Not that I really notice that...

A little bit of logical problems to exercise my mind.. and I think I might give Back to the Future Episode 4 a try for some other adventure problem solving bout.

Trying to teach the puppy that no he should not chase the cat and try to play with/eat him.

And I'm going to accompany my sister to dog training classes tonight to see if I can pick up any better tricks for handling him when she disapears to work.

One garage rear-door built and taking it's paint. Although having both primer and paint that requires 16 hours to dry really does make it a day-by-day progress. Of course this is the test build really. The front doors and frame have been slowly rotting away the past 20 years, so it looks like we'll be rebuilding them at some point in the near future.

Sat down with some logic problems, worked away at that for the mental exercise.. but it's so much fun when having been successful with a batch, you then hit one that you read.. you understand the english behind it.. but your mind makes absolutely no connections for what it actually means... :)

I believe that the solution is to model the logic problem using origami animals of the forest.

Preparing to suffer through another night of "drinks" with the coworkers, always do this when some big wig is in town. Then again, maybe I'll just say I have some family stuff to take care of.

Got home from the dog training. Was told I have to stop sounding "armyish" and "regimental" and more "enthusiastic and fun" to really get the dogs paying attention.

Found out my sister had swiped the korma I was planning on.. so decided to say to hell with it and picked up a clog-your-arteries-right-now SuperBurger from the local kebab joint.

3/4 pounds of unhealthy burger meat slathered with assorted sauces and with the sprinkling of salad and such amidst the buns. Possibly all food groups in one quick meal.. :p

So far, I've coughed a lot.

Time to put some clothes on and grab some take-out lunch. Chinese or Hawaiian, that is the question.
