Bioware's New Game

Wild guess time... Sheppard is going to find the "Creators" who build the Reapers and ask them nicely for the shutdown sequence code?

He will BRING SAJUUK TO BEAR

Would be nice to see them actually do something with the Shepard character, other than a heroic sacrifice, epilogue style.

Way too many game either take the easy way out or just leave the PC's fate open/unresolved.

Careful there, you are speaking heresy. :x

I'd say the answer to that question is kind of like the answer to "who's the sucker in this poker game?"*

"I don't get to do this often, but Volourn is pretty much right. The Bioware doctors were, post acquisition, moved to key positions within EA. It's safe to say that on some levels, EA became a part of Bioware, instead of the other way around."

Not exactly what I claimed but :( , anyways...

I know, I took what you said and expanded on it. :)

LotSB spoiler:

The Protheans and their tech are definitely going to be involved.

You're a cheery wee bugger, Nep. Have I ever said that?

I don't see why anyone would care. No one's forcing you to play the hypothetical multi-player part.

I think the idea would be that splitting out dev time on multi-player lessens time spent on the single player game.

Notice how I can belittle your beliefs without calling you names. It's a useful skill to have particularly where you aren't allowed to call people names. It's a mistake to get too drawn in/worked up. I mean it's not life or death, it's just two guys posting their thoughts on a message board. If it were personal or face to face all the usual restraints would be in place, and we would never have reached this place in the first place. Try to remember that.

They usually hire another studio for multiplayer on games like this. I know Bioshock 2 did, for example.

"Alright, I've been thinking. When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade - make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons, what am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life's manager. Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons. Do you know who I am? I'm the man who's gonna burn your house down! With the lemons. I'm going to to get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!"

Eh, it might end up like DX's multiplayer. A tragedy like that must not occur. Course it might not, but the idea is still sucky.

Spork syndrome is always a concern when games try to do to many things.

Personally, I would give some kudos to BW for not falling into the "every game must have mp" mindset

As did MoH - they even used a different engine for the MP part. It's classic "I have no idea how game development or budgeting works*, but I still have a strong opiniong about it" thinking.

Hell, generally the less people know about anything, the stronger their opinions are - why should gaming be different. :(

*hint, bigger projected sales through adding multiplayer enable hiring people to do just that. People who might actually be specialised in that sort of stuff, as opposed to doing SP (action) RPGs.

Wasn't DX's MP patched in at a very late state and then developed by the community?

I don't know the full details of the ME3 project, but I believe Montreal is helping out the Edmonton studio.

I didn't even know Bioware had a studio here in Montr

It was offical patch. Warren Spector said that it was a huge mistake to develop multiplayer at all. Took a lot of resources and none played it. No wonder as 10 years ago multiplayer was still relatively small niche. Everyone just played Quakeworld, Quake 3, CS, TFC, Starcraft, Warcraft 2 or UT99 and didn't really jump from game to game like nowadays.
