I'm Commander Shepard and this is my favorite thread on Obsidian

Switching armor pieces is worth the very short loading time. It's not just cosmetic, but damn, some of those look good. >_<

"Alright, I've been thinking. When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade - make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons, what am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life's manager. Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons. Do you know who I am? I'm the man who's gonna burn your house down! With the lemons. I'm going to to get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!"

While we're talking patches: Did anyone else have a bug with sniper rifles? You fire the gun and there's no noise, effect, recoil, damage dealt yet Shep reloads the gun and ammo is spent.
Quick fix: play a Vanguard.

and obviously, don't take sniper rifle training

Seriously though, sometimes I have that "issue" myself, with the Claymore. But in my case it's simply over-aggressive behaviour mixed with carelessness, as I simply forget to reload. Are you certain you have a round chambered when that happens?

I meant they should look at seafaring warships and base them on that. Also, it makes sense to compartmentalize ships with people on them when you want to keep the air in and the space out.
Bulkheads for atmosphere containment purposes are at least partially obsolete. And since the main factor affecting a ship's power is size as it directly determines main gun punch, it's not so unconceivable to have some unused space in a Cerberus vessel. For one, the ship isn't meant to accomodate a marine complement. Even Zaeed comments how roomy the ship is, compared to military craft. You may not like it, but I think it's intentional.

Really, unless you bought yourself some fish or want to play dress-up, there's no reason to ever even go up to Shep's cabin.
This. They created an entire deck (which they force the player to visit) around the "feature" that you can only swap armor pieces or even take your helmet off using a terminal.

Take that, unobtrusive design!

Well butter my biscuits! I take it it's purely cosmetic? Your ME1 love interest isn't stowed away in there or anything, right?

I think they put her in the picture on your desk and left it at that. No skeletons (real or allegorical) in the closet.

The fish were a nice touch. They should have given the Mess Sergeant a renegade dialogue option of serving sushi for the crew though.

You could buy space monkey meat on the Krogan world. I have no idea where it goes, though...

You can feed it to the varren (sp?) next to the Krogan merchant. It will follow you around like a tame puppy then

Hanar, thats the guys who look like jelly fish and all tentacles?

(just checking if I got the joke from game salesperson).

Even better, you can have it earn you some creds in the varren arena. They even talk about how it used to be the uncontested champion or something until its handler was exiled.

That was pretty cool.

I did wonder why there suddenly were more choices. I missed that connection.

Patch 1.01 doesn't seem to solve the clipping bug where Shepard gets fixed into the air after bumping into an object or person, forcing me to reload.

It also happens with companions often... I tell them to take cover but instead they start floating in the air.

The ending of the words is ALMSIVI.

Great. The patch seems to have added bugs which didn't exist before. Just did Thane's loyalty quest which is finicky as it is with the tunnel-ratting. Not only did it chop off the dialogue but it also caused unexpected quest failure (no, I didn't lag behind the assassination mark. I'm a clown but I'm not foolish).

And I didn't even get a choice to install it. Steam thought it would be a good idea tp install it without asking. Machines these days are like women - you give them a little independence and they end up taking too many liberties.

It hasn't happened for companions (or they get magically unstuck somehow), but it does happen every now and then that a reload is needed. Nothing like a walk in the air over the canyon at the Normandy crash site... or when fighting one of the grind battles where save isn't allowed, killing the last baddie, just to discover that Shepard has gone where no man has gone beofre. On top of a crate with no way down. He killed a reaper apparantly, but a drop of a meter and a half is too dangerous for him.

The crates are generally a disappointment. A few of them are the good kind that goes boom, but most of them are weaklings. No hitpoints and no Loot ® >_

Apart from the environments being too obviously set up for trench warfare, the levels are generally nicely done. Wouldn't mind an entire game in an Omega/Space Hulk type of environment :shifty:

Right-click on the game in your games list and selct properties, then the updates tab. From there you can set it to not automatically update.

I took this job because I thought you were just a legend. Just a story. A story to scare little kids. But you're the real deal. The demon who dares to challenge God.

So what the hell do you want? Don't seem to me like you're out to make this stinkin' world a better place. Why you gotta kill all my men? Why you gotta kill me?

Nothing personal. It's just revenge.

Leather seats are awesome, I'm talking about structural integrity, just walk around the ship, there are hardly any bulkheads and there are just empty spaces for no good reason.

No wonder

half your crew dies when you're doing the final run on the collector base

. Obviously Cerberus did a half-assed job and now you have to fill the gaps by your ingenious companions coming up with ideas like "what if we made the armor thicker?" or "let's add some shields"...

Actually it's "what if we add better armor?" and "let's add better shield". Which doesn't make sense but whatever.

Yep. Always happens the first time I equip the sniper in a mission. Edited by Oner

And yet the toilets have no stalls so you have to take a s*** out in the open while everyone watches you wipe your ass.

Don't look at me like that! You've all noticed it! I just happen to have to courage to point it out.

You might find that to be somewhat common in military toilets...

I meant they should look at seafaring warships and base them on that.

Why? Last time I looked, aircraft carriers were not capable of even atmospheric flight. ;(

Happens occasionally, especially with the sniper rifle. There is no initial round chambered, so when you try to fire, the reload sequence occurs. Never seen it happen with a round chambered, only after I've emptied my clips for it at least once. :)

You're a cheery wee bugger, Nep. Have I ever said that?

I played MS1 through first as a mage and, yes, it had alot redundant skills. I had more fun as mage/tech guy hybrid. So, maybe I try that first.
Sentinel is a good choice. Having both Warp and Overload allows for greater flexibility in squad makeup than any other class, and tech armor is nice. On the other hand... it lacks teeth. And the biggest reason for picking a tech class in ME1 - unlocking containers/h4x0ring - is gone, as any class can do it.

If you are starting a new game, and don't have your ME1 saves, you may want to check this, as the default start makes a few odd assumptions. And since the game allows to change face on import, you don't have to worry about playing with someone else's face.

Infiltrator FTW!

The cloak is pretty useless, but the scope bullet time is great.

What do you mean, useless? Given the limited amount of sniper ammo, the extra damage from cloak is pretty much a necessity... Take Tungsten or Heavy Warp ammo, and you are a ****ing invisible one-bullet-one-kill wonder.
