Aristes Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 I audited a film class where I saw JAWS for the first time. I was never interested in the film before, but I was quite pleasantly surprised. It was a good flick. Underscores my truism that the best way to enjoy something is to go in with low expectations.
Hurlshort Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 I saw The Hangover a couple of days ago and I have to say that it was one of the funniest movies that I've seen in a long, long time. I'd agree to that, the scenes right after they woke up had me in tears. I could barely breathe I was laughing so hard. It was the best comedy I've seen in awhile. I watched Righteous Kill last night. Very predictable. It was watchable because Deniro and Pacino are just great, but the story was mediocre.
ShadySands Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Started watching the TV show, The Mentalist. Have all the episodes and halfway through Season 1 at the moment. It's a bit like a modern day Sherlock Holmes seeking out his enemy Red John (Moriarty/Jack the Ripper type) and solving cases along the way. Tim Kang, the guy who plays Cho, is hilarious on the show. It's like his character should be on Dragnet instead. Free games updated 3/4/21
taks Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 well, bedtime stories is a goner (no longer on PPV), and the uninvited has been relegated to only a few regular def channels with one exception: an 11:30 p.m. showing on a high-def channel. i considered recording it, but fell asleep instead. taks comrade taks... just because.

theslug Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Slumdog Millionaire Thought it would be revolutionary by the way everyone made it sound. Definitely an interesting and original movie but I still don't think it deserved all the monumental praise. 8/10 There was a time when I questioned the ability for the schizoid to ever experience genuine happiness, at the very least for a prolonged segment of time. I am no closer to finding the answer, however, it has become apparent that contentment is certainly a realizable goal. I find these results to be adequate, if not pleasing. Unfortunately, connection is another subject entirely. When one has sufficiently examined the mind and their emotional constructs, connection can be easily imitated. More data must be gleaned and further collated before a sufficient judgment can be reached.

LadyCrimson Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 The remake of Journey to the Center of the Earth w/Brendan Fraser. Did not watch in 3D. Cute in spots but mostly meh. The background props/paintings/sets seemed subpar too, reminding me of 60's/70's. Maybe that was intentional. Or they blew all their budget on the big dino scene. “Things are as they are. That movie was interesting to watch in 2D on cable; I caught a snippet of it a while back. The budget was apparently 60 million, but it often looked cheaper than a Sci-Fi Original movie. Parts of it, like the grapes flying into everyone's faces at the end, were obviously intended to startle in 3D but just seemed pointless in 3D. Matthew Rorie

samm Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Regardless, Oskar was a tremendously annoying child actor and I had a hard time feeling any sympathy for him. I cannot imagine why that could be, both parts of it. Otoh, to each his own. Citizen of a country with a racist, hypocritical majority

samm Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 (edited) Drag Me To Hell. Despite some constantly chuckling idiots in the cinema, I liked the movie. There was not much suspense, but shock moments from the get-go. The end was predictable, but so drawn out it made me chew fingernails. Also, it clearly had some budget behind it, but totally is a B-movie, lots of clich Edited June 14, 2009 by samm Citizen of a country with a racist, hypocritical majority
Nightshape Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 Despite some constantly chuckling idiots in the cinema. You go to see a comedy and complain when people laugh... Strange. VERY strange. I came up with Crate 3.0 technology. Crate 4.0 - we shall just have to wait and see.Down and out on the Solomani RimNow the Spinward Marches don't look so GRIM!

VERY strange.I don't care if they laugh as soon as something funny happens, I'd even understand if they laugh in reconition of something that was already in the Evil Dead series (the car), but it was like 'oh, a fly, hahaha', 'oh, a bank manager, hahaha', 'oh, the man is wearing a hat, hahaha'.
