Bokishi Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 (edited) I will make game which combines The Sims, Sim City, and Spore, where you detail the evolution of people, from the cave man days to the space age and beyond. You start out with Adam and Eve and then you must take care of their billions of children who build their own cities over the course of forever (or until the sun explodes). You don't even have to take care of the people since there really smart, but you can control anyone you want in the world, Sims style and manipulate their preexisting lives. you can zoom out of people view into sim city view and govern their cities, and then you can zoom out and view the universe like you can in spore, and this will be very useful one you reach the year 3555 when all the people are in space age and having space wars with aliens like in star trek. You can control the aliens too Ok I'm done now Edited April 8, 2007 by Bokishi Current 3DMark
Pop Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 (edited) Well, if there are no limits, I'd make a dynamic RPG that would generate deep, involved storylines when you start every game, like Simcity generates terrain. You choose the setting, the prospective tone, the "genre" (action, mystery, whatever) the perspective, all of that beforehand, and every new game would be just that, a new game. The game would be absolutely flawless. Also, it will print money. It will feed starving children. It will ensure that good things happen to good people and bad things happen to bad people. It will cure blindness. It will instantly compose the most moving orchestral score ever created, all the time, everywhere. It will join all people as one. It will let me and everyone I love live forever. It will bring JFK back from the dead, and he will be the benevolent vampire President for all time. It will make people honest. It will make capitalism work. Everyone will want to buy what you sell and sell what you buy. It will eradicate obesity. It will allow all people to truly love the skin they're in. While you play it, you feel no pain, only warm fuzziness. It will make every week shark week. It will replace all dogs with pandas. It will kill Fidel Castro. It will have gay sex replace baseball as the national pasttime, while baseball will replace television as the focal point of family life. It will allow exes to be friends. It will make PETA sane. It will make all beards look good. It will allow grown men to cry, and women to play football. It will make all the men good looking and the women strong. It will make the children above average, which will raise the average, creating a rapidly escalating trend that will result in all children becoming God-Kings. It will teach Gromnir typing ettiquette. It will make Kevin Bacon everyone's best and closest friend. Oh, and it will be a Fallout game, of course. Rosbjerg Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 have you been listening to Tom Waits' "Step right up" for too long? Fortune favors the bald.
Maria Caliban Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 'If you could make any game, what would it be like?' It would be crappy. I'm a lover, not a game developer. "When is this out. I can't wait to play it so I can talk at length about how bad it is." - Gorgon.
Pop Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 (edited) have you been listening to Tom Waits' "Step right up" for too long? I've only heard two Tom Waits tracks - Chocolate Jesus and The Eyeball Kid, and both were pretty good. In addition, my game will always feature Micheal Ironside (\m/>.<\m/) in some pivotal role. I'm a lover, not a game developer. Then make a game that is pure love. Edited April 8, 2007 by Pop Join me, and we shall make Production Beards a reality!
LadyCrimson Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 Dungeon Keeper3. Sorry, I had to say it. But I would like more "god games" in that vein - where it's strategy+real-time environment molding/building+sim, whether on a small or huge scale, in space or in fantasy, matters not. Which is why Spore sounds so appealing to me at the moment. Sims alone aren't enough (the Sims/anything-Tycoons) - I still want battles/levels/skills and the strategy of winning against an enemy, not just keeping my virtual pets happy. “Things are as they are. Looking out into the universe at night, we make no comparisons between right and wrong stars, nor between well and badly arranged constellations.” – Alan Watts
Calax Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 a game where instead of being the "chosen one" you start out as a peon and slowly work up to a minion... you never take the lead, instead you play as the guy who appears out of nowhere and gives the king intelligence reports. so that the hero can continue on his quest using your report. Victor of the 5 year fan fic competition! Kevin Butler will awesome your face off.
Morgoth Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 No limits huh? I'd call it "Eternity". Special feature: It would never get released. Rain makes everything better.
Rosbjerg Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 I would like a combo game - a strategy in the likes of Civilization, Total War and Galactic Civilizations mixed together. But added in there I want to be able to participate in every battle as a common soldier if I so choose, the computer would then take the role of overall commander. You could also zoom down onto any city/planet and cruise the city GTA style . Fortune favors the bald.
Deraldin Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 a game where instead of being the "chosen one" you start out as a peon and slowly work up to a minion... you never take the lead, instead you play as the guy who appears out of nowhere and gives the king intelligence reports. so that the hero can continue on his quest using your report. How about a game where you are not the chosen one, but rather some guy who scams people into think that he is the chosen one. After all the chosen one is the one who gets all the perks, fabulous riches, all the girls, that new castle next door. All through the game you have to dodge assassins sent your way who think that you are the real chosen one and various other people all mistaking you for the real hero. You could either help or hinder the real hero depending on how you act in his/her name, possibly ending up thrown in the dungeon by the BBEG who really doesn't want to hear your story about how you aren't actually the chosen one and just happened to have the same name...
Oerwinde Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 I still like my mercenary game idea. You start as a single merc operating out of an apartment, and as you go on missions and gain money you can eventually recruit a team out of various skilled characters, including researchers/inventors. Your researchers can create new weapon/armor types which can then be used by you and your team, or you can patent and produce them making more money for you, but also allowing enemies to use it. Eventually you can end up with a large mercenary company, with research divisions, offworld shuttles, multiple teams which can handle other missions for you while you either manage the business or go on missions yourself. Missions would be squad based tactical combat stuff, with some RP thrown in to make it more fun, similar to the setup of Fallout Tactics. You can betray employers for more money, but that would lower your rating and lead to either less missions or less lucrative ones. There would likely be a story mode and a sandbox mode. More missions would be added through downloads, probably at a rate of one per month. Setting would be sci-fi. Not super far future, just enough for colonization of our solar system. The area between the balls and the butt is a hotbed of terrorist activity.
Dark_Raven Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 Fallout 3 done my way. Based on the two classics. Hades was the life of the party. RIP You'll be missed.

Volourn Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 A game that's fun. That's what it be like. DWARVES IN PROJECT ETERNITY = VOLOURN HAS PLEDGED $250.
@\NightandtheShape/@ Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 Fallout 3 done my way. Based on the two classics. What so basically in the same game engine? "I'm a programmer at a games company... REET GOOD!" - Me
theslug Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 I still like my mercenary game idea. That sounds like a really good idea. Maybe add some mechs for the end game but toned down. Not armored core or zone of the enders but scaled down mobile humanoid machines that you could use. Might not really fight tho. Anyways my dream game would be pretty much fable on steroids, horse viagra, and pcp. I'd like the classes more segmented and each ones play style completely different and you have to use that classes skills to advance through the game. Beyond tons and tons of quests that intersect each other and real good vs evil kind of stuff that follows you throughout the game. Epic duels against tons of other heroes, and epic armor and weapons that evolve your skills and spells. And puzzles, lots of cool puzzles that make you think instead of just brute forcing your way through everything. There was a time when I questioned the ability for the schizoid to ever experience genuine happiness, at the very least for a prolonged segment of time. I am no closer to finding the answer, however, it has become apparent that contentment is certainly a realizable goal. I find these results to be adequate, if not pleasing. Unfortunately, connection is another subject entirely. When one has sufficiently examined the mind and their emotional constructs, connection can be easily imitated. More data must be gleaned and further collated before a sufficient judgment can be reached.
Walsingham Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 Id make a first person rpg about modern peace-keeping. It would be as realistic as possible. Thus you'd be exhilarated, educated, and subject to post-traumatic stress disorder after you finished. "It wasn't lies. It was just... bull****"." -Elwood Blues tarna's dead; processing... complete. Disappointed by Universe. RIP Hades/Sand/etc. Here's hoping your next alt has a harp.
Blodhemn Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 I would make a game that's completely abstract. No story, there's just a bunch of unique characters in a dark world that somehow altogether make sense of it all. You suffer from severe psychological problems and are rarely able to distinguish dreams from reality. I would like to use this to create moments of bizarre visual and more importantly audial anomalies. Only view is first person mode, however you can see yourself in mirrors and such if you want to play dress up. You know nothing and by the end of the game you'll still know nothing. The more careless you are, the harder it becomes to recognize your surroundings, friendly faces will distort and what you should be doing will be unclear and eventually if you're not careful you erode to a point that it's better to just start a new game. People will fear you because you're a crazy man, or woman, and you'll also fear them because to you, they're the demented ones. As far as game mechanics, RPG style conversations, melee style combat with a big emphasis on well timed blocks and counters or you can just use a gun and the character will be given some sort of mind powers as well. The interface/menus are almost nonexistent, bare bones style. Everything you need is right in front of you. Simple for maximum immersion.
CoM_Solaufein Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 Baldur's Gate 3. It would have nothing to do with the child of Bhaal or any of the NPCs from the previous two games. metadigital Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 Today I would like a computer game that takes the player through the history of the civilized world. OBSCVRVM PER OBSCVRIVS ET IGNOTVM PER IGNOTIVS OPVS ARTIFICEM PROBAT
