Hiya guys,

I thought i would try the darkside playthrough, since on Kotor I, the darkside was easier since you got more cash from *cough* extortion *cough*.

I finished Telos and Dantooine and i got to Nar Shaddaa and i just got a VERY deep sense of guilt and i stopped and i had to sit down and one a romance movie to cheer me up.

I guess i am too much of a good guy.

I had no problem in killing Vrook, since i personally thought he was an arrogant S.O.B. lol

I have no idea how you lot manage to do it without feeling guilty.

I managed to get to the end part, where you kill Mission on Kotor I and i couldn't do it. :(

I am a goody-little-two shoe.

My wife always wonders the same thing :D

Actually, it helps if you pretend that you're just acting. Try to place yourself into the shoes of the evil character, and find some justification for what you are doing. That always helps me deal with the really evil parts.

My toughest moment when playing evil actually came when I was facing Master Kavar, and he basically said "you're blaming us, and killing us, for what was supposedly done to you, and none of it was our design", or something to that extent.

Up to that point, I had simply been going "yeah, cast me out, huh? How do you like me now?!"

In the end, it's still just a game. :(

In the first game it was easier because you could make up motives for yourself. I usually set up what I want the story to be before I play. So when I want a darkside character I just think of how he would act and what his motavation is. I don't just blatenly do evil things for no purpose...

LOL I was the same way... Vrook was the only jedi I was eager to kill. I felt awful about getting stuck being part of Vaklu's death squad, and never wanted to kill the other jedi. The other thing was, other than getting a cool messed-up face, there didn't seem to be any outstanding perk to being DS, especially when I could do DS moves as LS without penalty as long as my charisma was high enough.

KoTOR was interesting because Carth was actually the reason I stayed LS. I really cared about the character, and when he was disappointed in my DS actions, I felt bad and usually fixed it, lol. I just didn't want him mad at me. :">

One thing i didnt got in my last game...

how can i get hanhar in my party?

i saw something like that but never had the option....

Okay, here's my go at being a manipulative Sith Lord:

Feel you're anger. Kreia manipulating you. The Jedi Council feigning ignorance. They FEAR you. You showed them something that they were too hipocritical to see on their own. Give in to your hatred. That beggar would have sold you out if the chance came. Don't let them use you. Use them, instead. Twist them to your purposes. Show them what TRUE POWER is. :(:)

And, if all else fails, remember that it's just a game!

So, how'd I do? That's the key. Put yourself in your characters shoes. Picture the revenge. Associate it with something in real life if you need to. Drag up repressed memories of your evil family members, if need be.

Should they use this for phsyciatry?

I haven't played DS here just yet, still waiting for the patch before starting my second game, but I don't recall that many instances where I may feel guilty over being a bad guy.

In K1 though, that freaking Ithorian in Taris that was being ridiculed by the kids, I felt sooo bad for him I had a very hard time doing the DS choice there. Felt bad for a while after that.

As for Vrook, hell I wanted to saber him as a Lightsider! Back from K1, I'd hoped he'd changed a bit now in K2, but no, still wanted to impale him into a gamorrean axe.

Have to see how my DS game will go in K2, I look forward to it. After that I'll play LS again.

Well, if i put myself in the shoes of a Dark Jedi, i would likely kill myself and never play the game again.

I am a Lightside only guy and let it rest at that.

The only problem I have with the dark side game is that the storyline falls apart even worse. On Telos, you help the Czerka, and they repay it by shooting down your shuttle, which you're borrowing from them.

On Onderon, you help Vaklu, Tobin dies, Kreia doesn't rescusitate him, but he still shows up on the Ravager.

On Telos the second time, Bastila is in the next room when you're meeting with Carth, and she can't tell how far you've fallen to the dark side and doesn't try to stop you.

There are some times where it seems like the dark side game was thrown in as an afterthought.

Lol, hehe, ... grins, your are weak, I would cut you down with my double-bladed light sabre.

No honestly, I played a darkside character in KOTOR II, 16 Guardian, 12 Maurader and is was damn harder than I imagine being lightside would be.

I always had to be careful what I asked for I did not want any lightside points. Only once in the game I think I got lightside points talking to Handmaiden and I think that was a bug. I mean its a battle keeping dark and trying to open dialogue options.

Going from I dont give a crap about you ... to tell me something, espeically if it provides insight into this story .... that has no ending like KOTOR II. Of course at the time I didnt know that it had no ending but yea you need dialogue options to open them up but you dont want to be a softy.

Anyway .... this is a spoiler, I remember I almost forget. Nar Shadda was my last planet to do. I had been darkmastery +1-8 dmg melee since like level 13 I think and only lost it once and promplty told T3-M4 I would sell him for scrap if the Ebon Hawke starting having mechanical problems. Dwoooooo....

That didnt bother me. But I am like level 24 and I am looking for the last piece of equipment for the damn HK droid and I suspect the droid in there helping the blind technician might know where it is so I ask him for a little bit more after he gives me the droid protype shield for the schematics from the droid he wanted me to get from Kodin I think was the case.

Anyway I say, "Hey buddy thats not enough and that I made a copy of the schematics and that I am basically extorting him." So the droid says, "Those prototype schematics will help my master and save the shop I am just a simple droid and I have nothing to give, here take these and sell them to a merchant." Droid says, "Future of my master is most important and our shop". So the droid rips out his motivators and speech parts...and gave them to me... At this point I was like level 24+ must of had bonus points past the max in darkside. I literally sought out each every opportunity to do something evil. It was wearing on me.

So combination of looking for HK droid parts, long journey, seeing this droid do this I was like wtf, that bothered be more than anything. I had to buck up.

I enjoyed it. I enjoyed playing Darkside. It is just after killing 3 Master Jedi, Sion, Kreia, Nihilius, hundreds of Sith I didnt expect to be stuck on a rock out on space. Of course now we know that was not how it was supposed to end.

If you play a nice guy you dont even have to read half the dialogue options just pick one that is nice.

Darkside has to read them all.

I have a hard time with it, too. In the first game, where I had to kill Mission, I just felt terrible...couldn't believe there was a Teen rating for a game where you dice up a 12-year-old girl with a lightsaber. The DS romance dialogue with Bastila was great, though.

In KOTOR 2, it doesn't really bother me to kill the Jedi - they are warriors, after all, and I have a plausible reason to oppose them. But some of the civilians...Naddaa and her daughter, Aaida and her husband...I mean, yuck, you need a long shower to wash off the slime. And I have not yet been able to kill Queen Talia...what kind of honor is there in that? Its bad enough to help Vaklu and his goons.

It seems to me the DS is about amassing power, not acting like some petty thug, butchering civilians for a few credits. You might not want to engage in acts of compassion, as that would show weakness. But being an errand boy for the likes of Visquis makes no sense - its beneath the station of a Dark Lord of the Sith. Come on now, its a matter of perspective...crushing the galaxy beneath your iron fist is the plan here.

I see that the Failed Darksiders Anonymous is meeting again. I usually have hard time playing evil in these games. At least it feels that there is more of the subtle and easier to rationalize DS acts in this game than in K1. Using ends to justify means and all that. I'm playing a DS game now and doubt I can go all the way to the dark. I'm such a wuss.

YES, that happened to me too!!

In the palace, Tobin was a moron and charged the big beast and got killed in like one hit... and then for whatever reason all of a sudden he's on the Ravager later on, with DS veins/marks at that. wtf?

Then I killed him. Stay dead!

Posted

I played darkside and I had forgotten I do remember he charged that beast which I killed in like maybe 5 swings. The beast killed him and I think I remember looking back and thinking that was odd.

Also when you charge the Sith, does not the TFC Lieut. bite it on Telos? He says, "We will charge after you go." I did a Master Force Jump and they never moved I run after killing all of them and they finally come forward when I run toward the original Sith position, maybe it was a mine. Thought that was funny.

Anyway he does show up on Ravenger, you might almost barely miss him unless your thorough. I saw when I looked at his face that he was going to have to die. He looked to pissed off.

But apparently he will join you if you ask. I didnt though and I fought him. I remember this battle because I was filling pretty strong here and had not had any challenges for quite a while.

Basically it was me Sith Maurader, Mandalore, and Atris. But Atris was on stationary stance and I dont think she did anything the whole battle. Mandalore shot a few times with his onderon blaster but I think he missed every time.

So I was fighting this guy, and thinking damn uh he is still alive, shame he has to be 3 vs 1. Hmm, he is still alive, uh hmmm. Little longer, damn he is fairly tough, starting to think maybe I should ... start thinking.

I am actually starting to lose life. LOL. Anyway he died with me losing like 150 life of about 450. Far as I could check combat record, Atris never did anything, and Mandalore always missed and it was primarily melee. Getting my character down 150 pts, I gave him much respect.

Well, that is explained in game, and even better if you look around on the boards a little.

In the game:

The facility went haywire and all the Czerka employees were kicked out by droids. Notice only one human is inside of base, and he is friendly? Apparently they can't message Czerka command about this (or help would have been sent, and you would have been warned).

Deeper Stuff:

Goto was the original droid intelligence for Telos, therefore he had access to everything Czerka on that planet. That research facility he took over and began manufacturing HK droids out of. Conveniently, Czerka and the Exchange were all close and cozy at the time, and so he found it easy to infiltrate the Exchange ranks and gain access to their near infinite resources.

There, one plot hole explained, and Goto's character almost completely explained. What more could you ask for?

I aplogize I meant Visas Marr, my head has been slow today.

"Basically it was me Sith Maurader, Mandalore, and Atris. But Atris was on stationary stance and I dont think she did anything the whole battle. Mandalore shot a few times with his onderon blaster but I think he missed every time"

Should of been Visas. Right before you talk to Mandalore to take shuttle to Ravenger I think she says something she was already in my party and I had planned on taking her onboard the Ravenger to meet Nihilius but I dont even know if you have a choice in the matter.

She said something like, "You want me to go, You want me to stay." And I am like, "Shut up already". And she says, "I wish I could be so cold".

Actually I think I was thinking who I wanted to take, I didnt want to get stuck without a specialist, like Bao-dur without the ability to change party members.

I knew she Visas had to come. Mandalore invited himself of course you dont really know that till your already up there then you cant even change party. It didnt matter but.

Atris is the jedi member, female who turned dark with Kreias help, advice, who was a apprentice of Kreia who I dont think you can get as a member of your party. <-- I think.

I suck at playing DS too. To tell the truth, out of the ten times I've played K1, I've never played the entire game DS. I've -- reluctantly though -- played from the Temple to 'test it out' as a Male/Female, did do the DS ending. (Female made me depressed so I never played it again. ) Just goes to show you how good you really are...

Disagree. All the dark side choices in the first one consisted of pure brutality and meanness. Kreia gives you quite a compelling rationale in the second one. Each cruel act is a means to weed out weakness in the galaxy and strengthen it for the threat that is to come. Ends justify the means stuff.

Posted

Yeah, as mentioned, "it's just a game". I found it kind of fun at times being a psychopath, especially with Kreia scolding me and saying "Must you always be such a psychopath?" which you reply "If you don't quit nagging me, you're going to be next!" to which she replies "Oh forget it, I don't even know why I bother" or something along those lines :D.

At least in KOTOR 2 you don't get to kill your own party members... at least I don't think so :( .

It's easy in this game to be dark side. You just have to think about how you could win against the sith lords and the jedi (without knowing that they are easy to deal with, of course). Discussing with Kreia helps a lot. If you think that you can have to sacrifice your allies. You can side with the most potent sides of every planet (Vaklu in onderon so that he can manage to guide the planet to be self sufficient and keep its culture, Azkul (sp?) in Dantooine ). You just strengthen people by bringing them difficulties. Just say lootra her wife is dead, then he can have a new life. Say this mother in the refugee camp she should sell herself to be near her daughter.

In those situation, you just let people face their problems themselves, with their own weapons.

You just have to figure that your character is not a hero, he has to face situations where using people could have been necessary, just don't think that there is always a light side choice, because there are many situation where the most logical choice would be to be dark side.

In Telos, the Czerca has more possibilities than the Ithorian to help you find your ship and maybe to help the planet be self-sufficient. In Nar Shaada, trying to deal with the Exchange by siding with them seems safer than be against them.

After that, there are many situations where if you avoid to be a hero you will gain dark side points. In Telos and Nar Shadaa again, when someone has problems with mercenaries or exchange guys, just let them be attacked.

In this game, I think it's easier to justify a dark side attitude since in KotoR 1, being dark side meant you have to be some vulture and greedy, which semt pathetic.

I wish they inserted dialog like the ones vader do, In the cloud city when he double crosses lando, he says something like, "there's been a change in our agreement, pray that i don't modify it further" or something like that, dark brooding and is definitely not brutish. They could do perhaps the silent type thinker who will unleash a mean force storm when annoyed, now that is what a Sith Lord should be...

question: who ripped darth malak's jaw?? was it revan on a anger fit or debris when malachor exploded? or something??

Posted

I found it alot more difficult to play Lightside...Very boring. Some of the DS dialogue choices were great, especially mid-battle with the other Jedi Masters - 'Your skills are formidable, old man, but your speed is sluggish and weak!'
