  1. It almost feels like Obsidian are a little scared of using their Power Level system too much, with passives/abilities not scaling off it at all, or scaling in a mostly meaningless way. An obvious example is summoned weapons, whose actual damage and accuracy scale with character level rather than power level meaning a Fighter/Wizard summons just as powerful a Citzal's Spirit Lance as a single class Nature Godlike Conjurer under the effect of Wellspring of Life. To my mind at least this doesn't make sense either from a lore perspective (surely the specialist should be able to summon the better weapon) or from a balance perspective (the single class conjurer doesn't get access to the fighter's various abilities and passives that improve melee performance).
  2. I'm disappointed that I can't multiclass Eder as a Priest of Eothas. It fits him so well. I'll have to see if I can figure out how to mod it so I can. I find that hard to believe as well. It's all there for the main character but somehow breaks down for the companions? I suspect it's more a case of not wanting to overwhelm players and/or it being hard to balance the game around completely free multiclassing.
  3. Agreed. I think removing on-hit and on-crit effects from Carnage, whilst a bit of a shame from the point of view of build variety, was the right choice (particularly with all the interactions added with multiclassing). It seems odd that Obsidian didn't do the same with the Spirit Lance and the Minor Blights (hopefully they'll change it).
  4. Not a fan. I don't like the random element of it. If you want Resolve to have something to do with Empower I'd prefer it to give a bonus/penalty to the number of Empower's you get per rest or a bonus/penalty to the power of Empowers. I prefer the latter of these two for the simple reason that I don't like break points in Attributes and I doubt Obsidian would make Resolve give you ±1 Empower per point of Resolve as that would seem a lot. Of course I'm really not a fan of the new system anyway (particularly renaming Might Strength) so would favour some return to the old system. That said, I'd still like to see Resolve get something more as it was definitely (one of) the weakest Attribute(s) in Pillars. I still feel the Affliction duration reduction idea that was floated around here was a good one, although presumably Obsidian have reasons for not liking it.
  5. Quite possibly, though not for that reason of course since it's perfectly sane.
  6. It does. It also means a Paladin/Berserker who takes the appropriate talent gains immunity to his confusion, which is nice.
  7. I am confused. The OP doesn't like Trial of Iron because, being a grown up with lots of other commitments, he doesn't have the time to deal with perma death, but his complaint is that the game doesn't provide enough replayability? Does he plenty of free time or not?
  8. @Wormerine - the way I prepare spaghetti, and the type of sauce I make, that's not a problem.
  9. It's common here in the UK. I just don't get why. Knife and fork work well for me.
  10. Is that how Italians eat it, or non-Italians? I've always found that method bizarre and never use it.
  11. For me stylish = what is practical.
  12. Yeah, sadly this is very much how I'm feeling at the moment too. In its current state it's quite likely I'll only play Deadfire through once for the story. The mechanical side of the game just isn't as appealing as Pillars for me.
  13. Yeah, I do sometimes wonder about how they go about this stuff. The armours were overpowered (now they're good at low levels but not particularly at higher ones) but they weren't bugged. Meanwhile the arbalest is bugged (or if it's not it's really bad), but for some reason it's ignored.
  14. Why not? I'd say it definitely will change. The only question is whether it'll change before the release, or change at some point down the line.
  15. Chanter or Paladin are probably the safest main character options (easiest triple crown solo) so probably the easiest triple crown parties too. I think every class could beat TCS (though some harder than others certainly) and that's definitely true of TCP(arty), though bad luck can always sink a run of course.
  16. Yes - either choose a weapon with dual damage types or accept the penalty when using a non-favoured weapon type. That's the downside of the class.
  17. Note that whilst I want all those things, I don't conclude from that that the subclass is ****ty: it just doesn't really fit what I'd hoped from it.
  18. Bah that sucks. I wonder if it still works for Nightshroud (though I only usually unlock Nightshroud out of habit: I've never used it seriously).
  19. I unlocked Nightshroud's first level by beating on one of my companions until I got 13 Blinds (making sure to rest before their completely died). Perhaps something similar would work with Spike Flinger?
  20. Posting from my desktop rather than my phone makes me realise Nail, as someone who has the Ultimate achievement, probably already knew that HoF was powerful
  21. Do you have Heart of Fury? That plus Dragon Leap and dual wielding will do huge damage to big groups of enemies if positioned correctly, and I believe Kaylon has a video showing him soloing the Alpine Dragon that way (he definitely solos Magran's Faithful that way).
  22. I'll say what I always say when people worry about missing attribute locked dialogue options: you're not missing much at all. Most of them elicit a single line of extra dialogue from the NPC your talking to followed by the default response, a few get you minor rewards (and I mean minor) and only perhaps two or three have significant content behind them. Of those, there is usually more than one attribute that can get you the extra content so maxing out all three isn't needed or desirable. My advice: go with a good attribute spread for your character and you'll probably have at least one of the mental attributes high enough to get what you want.
