After playing BETA Deadfire to me is absolutey epic
JerekKruger replied to master guardian's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)My main problem with the new magic system is from a role-playing perspective. I always liked the aspect of finding and learning spells throughout the game, like my Wizard was a magical scholar, but I can't do that anymore. I don't mind per encounter spells in theory (though there are problems that need overcoming to make it great) but the loss of learning new spells bugs me. EDIT: it bugs me more so because I think the reason Obsidian got rid of memorisation was to free up grimoires as part of a class trinket system that they have now scrapped.

JerekKruger replied to Gfted1's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I believe all companions are found in the Dyrwood. None are found in Eir Glanthath, and to the best of my knowledge the White March is part of the Dyrwood. Please no bullying Huh?

WTF are sidekicks?
JerekKruger replied to Yosharian's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)You might be right. I can't remember what I knew about ninjas before TMNT came to the UK and therefore, by extension, what my friends did or didn't know about them. Same here, hence the reason most kids knew about it making it rather pointless.

Josh Sawyer's tweets and teasers, part 2
JerekKruger replied to Gfted1's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Doubt it. Even if you break off all the quests when you get the companions, you need to run over a lot of places to catch them all. ... Given Mannock's avatar, my thoughts exactly.

WTF are sidekicks?
JerekKruger replied to Yosharian's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Yep. To quote the Wikipedia article: I don't think it worked since almost every child knew that it was originally 'ninja' and why it had been changed. Moreover my guess would be most kids watching it wouldn't have come across the weird ninja before*, so their impression wild be based off the show. If the shire gave off an excessively violent vibe the change simply meant children would think heroes were excessively violent. *Remember home PCs were very rare back then, the internet even rarer, and Wikipedia nonexistent.

WTF are sidekicks?
JerekKruger replied to Yosharian's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Not in the UK. Apparently if we used the word "ninja" in a kids programme all out children would become psychopathic stealth killers or something.

Josh Sawyer's tweets and teasers, part 2
JerekKruger replied to Gfted1's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Agreed. It might be possible to get any single given companion in within 30 minutes of finishing Chateau Irenicus (though, as you say, doing so for Cernd or Mazzy is pushing it) but getting all of them in 30 minutes is impossible. I suspect that, for non-speed runners* getting them all would take around 15-20 hours, just as the original post that spawned this conversation was complaining about. *Do people speed run games like BG2?

Portraits
JerekKruger replied to iscalio's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I always assumed he was an artist at Obsidian given how well his portraits fit into the existing aesthetic. Is/was he not?

Level 8 spells and...Any Grimoires with them?
Yup, if you're willing to use (abuse?) the retraining system you can learn every single spell in the game this way.

JerekKruger replied to Gfted1's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Her video updates are great and that will be missed, but I doubt it's a sign of impending doom. Hopefully she'll do well with whatever she's moving onto.

Josh Sawyer's tweets and teasers, part 2
JerekKruger replied to Gfted1's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Given the change to weapon proficiencies I very much doubt they'll remain universal. Would you be able to use multiple proficiencies? Would you be able to use the shield or ranged proficiencies with a melee weapon? Of course it's not a big deal. Proficiencies are nowhere near as important as Pillars' weapon foci. Many proficiencies don't even seen beneficial at all.

JerekKruger replied to Gfted1's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Eyeballs yes, but do you have any idea how helpful the Watcher was for getting rid of itches. An itchy nose is no joke when you're an immobile statue.

Josh Sawyer's tweets and teasers, part 2
JerekKruger replied to Gfted1's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I dunno, wasn't her whole shtick that she was in love with Caed Nua, the castle she spent much of her life building? If that's the case I imagine she'd be severely depressed that it has been destroyed and that she has been taken away from the ruins thus robbing her of any chance to repair it.

Tidefall Paladin Advice
If you're not opposed to it, use the console to give yourself a new Tidefall to enchant the way you want (drop the old one in some out of the way container you're never going to check) and you've basically fixed the problem.

Portraits
JerekKruger replied to iscalio's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)On Chrome at least you can right click the image and choose search on Google images and, for most images of people, this will tell you their identity. From there you can find the run down yourself.

After playing BETA Deadfire to me is absolutey epic
JerekKruger replied to master guardian's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)If cheesecake is pie then cake is definitely worse since all cake is terrible. Most pies are too, but cheesecake and savory pies save the category.

After playing BETA Deadfire to me is absolutey epic
JerekKruger replied to master guardian's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I don't see it. master guardian's sentences are no where near as painfully contorted or full of needless synonyms.
