  1. Sorry what I meant was people used to D&D armour expect better armour to make them harder to hit, so the fact that Pillars armour didn't do that was confusing (code for "I don't like change"). I can't say for certain, but I suspect a lot of the complaints about the DR system being confusing stem from exactly this. I wasn't suggesting one system was actually more complicated or simpler than the other. Unless there's a meaningful trade off this is the case yes. I'm not sure this is the case. With a bit of tweaking to DR values I think the Pillars system would also be perfectly fine. The issues came at the extremes I think.
  2. Agreed. I've heard at least once that they changed the system because people found the old system hard to understand. I'm really not sure how this system is easier to understand, and honestly I suspect most people who found it hard to understand were struggling with the fact it's not a D&D AC system. Did the old system have some problems? Sure. But this new one seems to have at least as many.
  3. Interesting that for Edér it states "no subclasses" under Fighter but not under Rogue. Has it been confirmed that he isn't able to take Rogue subclasses as well?
  4. Excellent suggestions. Regarding 3, I think they're going somewhat in this direction by limiting which gear slots given attribute bonuses can appear on. For example, Might might only appear on gloves and hence there won't be suppression since there'd be no way to suppress it. Not sure how it'll end up being implemented, and I don't think suppression is being removed, but hopefully you'll like it more than Pillars.
  5. Another question. If we grant for a moment that this delay entitles backers and preorderers to some sort of recompense*, what exactly do those of us who paid for the beta get? We're just as inconvenienced by the delay and we backed Deadfire $20 more but we get nothing? *I don't believe this, but this is the argument being made.
  6. It's a thing that I, and others, paid for, because we wanted it. I don't see how that's not a product. Ultimately you're asking for something that you didn't pay for (presumably because you didn't think it was worth it), that others did, for free. On the basis alone I don't think you should get it. If you really think the delay is bad enough you can ask for a refund on your backing of the game. It's a more complicated procedure than asking for a refund on a pre-order, but I know at least one person who's done it. Of course I doubt you'll do that since you aren't actually that bothered, you just want something for free.
  7. They're changing it in a way I think you'll like. You will now be limited in how far you can enchant and item and what enchantments you can apply to a given item. As it was described quality enchantments (Fine, Exceptional, Superb, Legendary) can only increased by one tier, so a Fine item will never become Superb. Also you won't be able to stick elemental lashes on any weapon, instead they'll be tied to weapons that have them innately and you'll be able to upgrade them.
  8. Agreed. It's much less painful to pretend you've hurt yourself instead
  9. Do we know this for certain? I know that some companions definitely do (Xoti's unique Priest and Monk subclasses, Pallegina's unique Paladin order etc.) but in the cases where no subclass has been specified (Edér for example) has it been stated that they won't be allowed to take one?
  10. Well as a half Belgian I have Resistance to Entitlement Afflictions so I'm not at all entitled
  11. I'd argue that the person asking for something that others had to pay for because a release was delayed is the one suffering from entitlement.
  12. Oh you're not a backer? In which case, if you feel Obsidian's changing of the release date is bad enough, request a refund on Steam. That's what they're there for.
  13. As I said in another thread on the topic, at the time of backing there was no firm release date so Obsidian haven't broken any promise they made when you backed. Given that others paid extra to get beta access I don't really think this is a reasonable request. Josh has replied to a post asking why there's a delay on his Tumblr. His response was "bugs". Also Obsidian's official Twitter has a picture of a calendar with someone circling the 8th of May on it. I don't think they've literally made an announcement but it seems all but confirmed.
  14. No he wasn't. Tin foil hat refers to conspiracy theorists and he was saying that suggesting that, given there's a more obvious explanation for the delay, your suggestion was bordering on a conspiracy theory.
  15. Now you say it I can hear it, although I can't hear the difference from "sh" still.
  16. Sounds like Christof to me, but I spent ages trying to pronounce cześć correctly and being told I was doing it wrong so I'm guessing there are certain sounds in Polish (and probably Slavic languages) that I am not tuned to hear or pronounce.
  17. Given I am one of the "bullies" I can confirm that is exactly why I said what I said. My advice to anyone whose first language isn't English would be "use simple words and simple sentence constructions", and that was exactly what I was trying to suggest to Sonic.
  18. Moreover, at the time of backing no specific release date was given, so you can't even really complain that you wouldn't have backed otherwise.
  19. Agreed. Despite being one of the "fanboys" defending this decision I actually defend it because I think Deadfire, in its current state, will not be as good as Pillars from a mechanics point of view. I have little concern about story, and the art looks beautiful, but character building and combat just doesn't seem as good as Pillars (in most respects, there are definitely some improvements).
  20. Yeah, and in every single case the games were worse (or at least no better) at release than his pre-release versions
  21. I'm not all that surprised, and not at all bothered. I'd rather wait for a better game than get it quickly and struggle with bugs.
  22. And to keep the number of attributes at six they're adding a new stat called wrong: the ultimate dump stat.
