  1. Here's one: Is the game (companions, NPCs) going to acknowledge gender and if so, shall we expect different quest resolutions brought by a specific gender reaction or will the interactions be limited to some flavor text (if any at all) ?
  2. As far as men are concernced, there are two patterns: -those who play as males and think for the character as an imaginary-alternate version of themselves -those who play as females to look at something attractive- sexy. The warrior woman theme appeals to a lot of men The first category tends to role-play how themselves would react in certain senarios, the second tends to role-play their version of 'the perfect woman'
  3. Your character(s) think so about Paladins b/c they can't picture others doing stuff not for personal gain, which is a hard truth, but in a fantasy game one may dream :D
  4. This. Are you going to play a male or female on your first playthrough ? I almost always create characters in rpgs based on my fiance (you can check my signature for the theme of my first character) Also I wonder how often the game will recognize gender, it will probably have a very minor effect on gameplay.
  5. Wasteland 2, Zelda Majora's Mask 3D, maybe even Fire Emblem Awakening- I ll try to buy as much time as possible with these for the patches to kick in !
  6. Well no. She is a very decent Mage/Thief of 'Good' Alignment, Mage being her most important aspect (also not specialist Mage, so she may learn spells from any school). Of course, she, or any other mage, is much weaker than Edwin, but personally I very often found myself not recruiting Edwin b/c of his attitude. But yeah, she was quite pathetic, Irenicus broke her big time.
  7. To be honest there, in BG1 my squad always aimed for the enemy casters first. As a result, in most fights I d taken them out before they could cast almost any spell, due to subsequent interrupts. In BG2 that was harder to accomplish due to higher lv protection spells and contigencies, but there were the Inquisitor Paladins that could cast an uber Dispel that coupled with a counterspell once needed would leave wizards defenseless. Or you could go rock-paper-scissors with counters or (my personal favourite) throw a frenzied berserker at the wizard and keep the rest of the party at safe distance until the brute is done wasting the mage. But PoE is low to mid lvs BG, so closer to BG1, and as I mentioned above *my* experience there was very similar to what you describe with casters in PoE. But then, that's not a good thing. I would really like enemy casters to prove greater challenge.
  8. I prefer to play a game without quest-breaking bugs, it totally ruins my immersion for a rpg. I play Wasteland 2 NOW, 5 patches after release So I'll most likely wait for Pillars to get patched, maybe also try a fan mod if they are released by then. In the meantime, i'll divide my time between work and other games I currently play. I'll also steer clear from spoilers ! :D
  9. No ! She is pretty decent in BG1, you can build her the way you want, her being Lv1
  10. I can see already how that mod will take away from the survival-tactical element to replace it with convenience and things becoming easier for the player.
  11. I remember in my very first BG2 playthrough how I couldn't stand how frail and pathetic Imoen sounded. I just couldn't feel for her.
  12. God I hope they don't add a 'Noober' NPC as an easter egg !
  13. It's me, Imoen ! :D
  14. Congratulations ! Another Obsidian game is about to make legend :D
  15. This game is superb from what shown so far, but it is unfair to compare it with D&D pen-n-paper or even with the old IE games. Although Pillars is inspired by both, the good-old IE games ruled back then and were a breakthrough at those times. No power on earth can take that away from them. Pillars manages to blend nostalgia with the modern and thus will actually be a far better game than those gods of ancient times
  16. Only Nintendo lunches their license games bug-free, because they spent months on bug-testing before release.
  17. Never found myself to like the ESO franchise. They seem more like a sandbox game than rpgs to me.
  18. I too liked the EE addition. Very practical and wastes no space.
  19. It was bad to watch other threads suggesting such a change get buried and I hope such will not be the case with this one. Perhaps most of you don't have a problem with how things are with this matter ?
  20. Or something similar to Alt functionality, perhaps Ctrl or Shift. The point is not to hide it, but to tranfer it elsewhere. In particular, embody the info in the Character Portraits, or something similar. I can understand the devs intention was not to take your eyes off the action, but the result is very ugly and takes away visual goodness. A quick glance at the PCs Portraits to verify that the unit has taken your order or to check your recovery bar won't hurt any1.
  21. To get back on the bonus items, Is the Pledge of Gaun Ring an 'easter egg', much as is the space piglet ? 'Cause nothing comes in mind about a Gaun item in the BG games.
  22. Coran can get murdered in BGII ?! Now either I have never seen this, or I did in one of my really old BGII playthroughs and I don't remember that
  23. I find it very obstructive to have 'Action Icon', 'Recovery Bar' over PCs' head right in the middle of combat. Apart from that, it's ugly to look at, being that it takes away from the stunning game visuals. As has been requested by many backers in different threads, it would be an easy task to pass that info down onto the character portrait. PCs should have *nothing* above their heads, that is why the UI is there. Please, do that.
  24. Happy holidays every1 ! :D
