  1. Is it bad that I would love to see something similar to what they did with Lanfear?I think it's safe to say that Sensuki has both a better sense of humor and thicker skin than Lanfear ever did. That lady was nuts. What's the deal with Lanfear ? I've never heard the story before, but the name rings a bell.
  2. I would like to see him as either a really boss antagonist or as a Master of Technology who sends you on a quest to find some exotic part and rewards you by increasing your mechanic skill. Character to be voice by...Sansuki. I too think some people here deserve an easter egg in the game ! How about two guys in a tavern picking up a fight- Sensuki & Shevek ! In general, I hope Pillars gets many easter eggs, being the game that it is. And I see we have already started getting them: *Giant Miniature Space Piglet*
  3. Have the bars above PCs in combat been removed?
  4. ^Yes show us plz !
  5. Yahoo ! ...but a lot of bugs..!
  6. You have my deepest condolencies. I hope he gets a memorial in Pillars.
  7. I don't think the game is designed to be played solo
  8. When will the next build go live ?
  9. Good to know I can fall asleep on the keyboard and the game won't crash and I'll lose progress !
  10. I'm sorry but I can't feel sorry for those of you who can't kite in Pillars of Eternity. As for pre-combat placement, I guess nothing can be done about it. Those who will use it, they will use it.
  11. Ideas for New Talents: *Melee* -Momentum Blow When running more than 10m towards enemy with the intention to attack them, you get an instant free attack against them with your equipped weapon, in addition to your normal attack. Your normal attack resolves immediately after the free attack. -Riposte You counter-attack 50% of the time with your equipped weapon when your attacker misses. *Spellcasting* -Co-operative Casting When you are next or very close [specify range] to another wizard/priest/druid and you are both casting, the spells gain +5 acc bonus and a +10% to their damage/duration.
  12. And you are....! *shrug* what I'm trying to say is that your post isn't rebutting anything, but rather simply tries to take a stance and gain authority/power in the debate/discussion by nonchalantly neglecting whatever he was saying. You don't address anything he is saying in his post. A.k.a. s.h.i.t-posting. I think the point Quetzalcoatl is saying is that MANY if not ALL quests in Baldur's Gate are fetch quests. The dialogue, narrative can be everything from mediocre to good, to fun, such as the saving Dynaheir quest with Minsc (for instance). Without looking through some walkthrough and just at the top of my head I'll name some quests that are not play fetch: -Saving the woman's boy at the Lighthouse -Saving the Mage woman from the crazed male Mage in the carnival -The Mage and the Ogre at the Carnival (not sure it's a quest though) -Silke hiring you to protect her from the thugs -Help a female Paladin deal with some gibberings -Kill the half-ogres on behalf of the Paladin in Jovial Juggler -Returning to flesh the stone adventurer -Escort the injured man in the temple to receive treatment -The Mad Guard Commander in Nashkel -The artist that stole the emeralds in Nashkel -Bring news of her husband to the woman in Beregost -Beregost, the commoner that blames you for his son's death (not sure it counts as a quest though) -Cloakwood, the young man whose brother went and fought the spiders -The fishermen and the Pristess -The thief that has been cursed by the reverant for stealing his tomb -a boy asks you to bring his lost dog home, but I think you'll count this as fetch quest -the apprentice that has been turned into a chicken ! -helping the excavation of a lost civilization -Oh! Bassilus the evil cleric -the Druids and the Hunters -the Miners of Cloakwood -the Ghosts of Firewine . . . . Do you want me to try and remember more ? I only stopped listing b/c I got bored. And I didn't even touch the city of Baldur's Gate that has many memorable NON-FETCH quests. Don't compare BGI&II quests with any rpg of recent years.
  13. And after reading that @Osvir I'll be definetely playing on PotD !!!
  14. Suggestions on Barbarian: *Wild Sprint* -20 Deflection Penalty is too harsh (so that makes the ability not worth using), should be reduced to -10. Also the talent 'Powerful Sprint' should give the added benefit of never the Barbarian be interrupted *while moving*. Then it can be successful in what it tries to do and will be more appealing to pick. *Brute Force* The benefit of the ability does not fit well with its name, but more importantly, without meta-game knowledge, it is a gamble for the player, not knowing how often and at what extend will this ability prove useful. If changed it could be anything from a 3% dmg bonus (as much as 1 point of Might gives) to a hit to crit conversion percentage (5%).
  15. *Suggestion* -Penetrating Shot can be merged with Close Shooter. Closer Shooter x1.1 dmg increase is very minor to be a stand-alone talent. -Spellcaster Talents that grant 1 extra spell use don't seem to fit well with other talents to be merged with, so it would be best they get an additional benefit, like: +5 accuracy on spells of that lv
  16. *Suggestion* for Talents that give bonus dmg against enemy type -said talent also gives +5 accuracy vs enemy type Also, need a specification: bonus dmg applies to psysical dmg only or also to magic/elemental dmg ?
  17. Good points guys. All of us agree some talents need attention. Two-handed Style is really bad, as are bonus spell uses at low-lv spells. Ranged style talents need more flavor. *suggestions: -two-handed can give bonus dmg % OR faster recovery time -bonus spell talents can give 2 uses instead, for low-lv spells(Lv 1-2) but I don't know the extend of usefulness since low-lv become at-will powers at higher lvls (right..? I remember Kickstarter Updates saying so) So it would best if Bonus Spell Use Talents be merged with other Spellcaster Talent. -Close Shooter can give some DT penetration, Marksman can *slow* enemy for a brief time on successful hit. In general, @Obsidian people plz review the talents and possibly add more. The more the merrier
  18. No, it's not. But it would be better than engagement if it did and IMO it would be an evolution to the IE style. Evolution is good. (IMO)
  19. The archer and the bear example got me thinking.. If you watch game-play vids from the upcoming Torment:Tides of Numenera game, characters move slower when they get their first move command until they reach their 'full-speed'. This emulates real world movement, like you can't kite a bear in real life as you would stop to shoot and then move slower when you start moving again. Or in a melee situation, your opponent *will* get a free atk when you turn back and start moving away from them. I don't know if that reduction in mv speed is there just for aesthetics in Torment, but it looks like if it was to be modified to fit in Pillars (and also if turning your character also had a time cost) all the kiting problems of the IE games lineage would be solved, and as an added benefit, combat would feel more realistic. No complex mechanic like engagement would be needed.
  20. I highly doubt that the bulk of the people waiting for Pillars play games like GTA. Speaking for myself, I am a dedicated rpgamer and I bet that goes for a lot of people, and not only those in the forums (for example, I can think of many people I know that only play rpgs)
  21. If you are interested in playing the beta, you cannot buy a key anymore, but a backer can buy one for you. The backer beta is spoiler free, coming from a mid-early point of the game and does not feature the main quest or any major characters-companions. Release date is not yet specified but has been announced as early 2015. And yes, we are as excited for the game as you are !
  22. Since Obsidian appeared to be quite terrible at it, and since there is a crowd that cares so much for this game to the point that they defy and outright deny many of the developer team choices: I am quite certain that those people will mod the UI, combat HUD and many more aesthetic choices. I have faith in them Oh ! Obsidian can also try to do their thing and help the modders have a more practical foundation to work on. So, if you people want to continue discussing for all these, go ahead. Judging by the sort of changes proposed by backer feedback that have been implemented in the game, I find it pointless.
  23. Well I may try it then, as crazy as that sounds
  24. Thanks for the info. I will stick to Hard+ Expert Mode. I sense PotD will make encounters too crazy so that they will feel unnatural to the quests-game world, and that's what matters to me the most.
