Kentucky County Clerk still Refuses to issue Gay Marriage License
Amentep replied to BruceVC's topic in Way Off-Topic
But Amentep what would happen if she was found to be stealing? As I understand it, as an elected position, a county clerk found to be stealing would still have to be impeached by the Kentucky House of Representatives to be removed from office. There may be an interim clerk put in while the legal proceedings...er...proceed, but it'd require the House to remove. -

As I understand it (I tried to find the actual provisions, but legislation isn't terribly intuitive if you don't know where what you're looking for lives), she can be removed through impeachment but that's by the Kentucky House of Representatives, which doesn't meet again until January, I believe. -
Synopsis: Both sides have fair points. Gamers and reviewers sometimes look at games differently because of the situations they're in. Reviewers get the games for free, also they have hundreds of games to review constantly, so things like busywork are an obstacle to them getting to the heart of the game so they can post a review. Gamers have to pay for their own games and don't generally have the same time pressures reviewers do, so things that seem like busywork for reviewers may be enjoyable activities to gamers that extend their playing time and give them value for the money they had to spend. Also, Ars Technica are ****wads for going with a clickbait-y presumptuous title for their review. Also also, don't get hung up on scores, they fail to tell the whole story. Also also also, scores bad, mmkay? Edit: Ninja'd You forgot the "...and that's why my reviews using large chunks of gameplay footage instead of scores with commentary to explain why I hold my opinions are so much more awesomer" bit.

My understanding was they were a turning point in terms of first developer who targeted Linux. It didn't work, but it led the way to other companies. I'm not as cognizant on Linux development (other than knowing I've been hearing about it for around 20 years, with a lot of it similar to being "why isn't this out on Mac/Linux/etc")
-
If by "brand new" you mean "since 1998"1 then yes, they are "brand new". That said the turning point is really going to be installed user base. That goes up you're going to see more parallel development for Linux and other OSes, and I think Steam's efforts are going to make an impact there. 1I understand the first game ported was actually in 1994, but I believe 1998 is when Loki Software started, and I think that's considered to be the turning point in Linux game development

WSB TV printed (and broadcast) a retraction of the story after online gamers encouraged them to investigate the evidence provided by their source. http://www.wsbtv.com/news/news/local/local-gamer-says-he-communicated-shooter-killed-jo/nnS4Z/

I'm entertained by TAS, but it has a lot of limitations. -

TOS lasted three seasons not four Its well known that the lack of ratings for Star Trek (and other 60s shows) was partially due to how Nielson ratings were calculated. Had the revised rating system (used the year after TOS cancellation) been used, the third season would have definitely led to a fourth Using that revised rating information and the syndication success as a basis, Paramount started trying to launch a movie ("The God Thing") in the early 70s. Paramount was so eager to do so, most of the cast were given "Pay or Play" contracts to ensure their availability. The Animated Series was seen as a way to capitalize on TOS syndication popularity Unable to agree on a movie script, Paramount planned on launching a new network in the late 70s with a TOS relaunch, PHASE II When buyers were reluctant to back the Paramount network, Paramount used the pilot PII story ("In Thy Image" by Alan Dean Foster) as the basis for STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE While the movies did well, they were continual sellers which was their strength (more so than immediate return on investment as they were costly to produce); Paramount actually made their instant cash off the FRIDAY THE 13th series (hence why for many years a F13 movie alternated with a ST one). Frankly I still think most of TOS holds up very well. I suspect that people who complain about it being sad (or camp) are the people who'd probably argue the same of most 60s tv. That's not a value judgement, but some people just can't watch stuff from earlier generations or they hold it to unreasonable expectations based on what they expect a TV show now to do. And if you think ST is camp, don't watch Lost in Space, your head will explode. I think - generally speaking - TOS had better stories than TNG; as an 80s show TNG eventually did more in the terms of character, but DS9 might be the best of the series, overall, in terms of character. IMO. -

I hear divorce is an option too. -
Personally I liked The Descent more than Jaws of Hakkon (but then I like the Deep Roads stuff, so I'm probably more inclined to like it than others over Hakkon which offers a large areas with similar gameplay to other areas).

Oh that explains why there was a huge patch waiting for me. Le sigh. According to what I've read you can't play Tresspasser unless you have a beaten game state, so I may finish the game an DL Tresspasser later.

I admit, that's one of the things that I disliked when I was toy collecting. It was really bad at the time; when I went to stores I'd look in between the shelving because typically some fan had stashed the rarest figures there in the hopes that no one would find them and buy them, so they could later when they had more money... ...usually so they could sell them at ridiculous "hot" prices on ebay. That's not even getting into the "I know a guy who works at the store" stuff.

More silly than anything else, but...

I never read one of the books with them, but when I read about them in some of the RPG materials the Yuuzhan Vong seemed to me like "we've ran out of ideas" villains. Like, unable to create a credible bad-guy for our heroic force users to face, the writers just said - "Ooo, yeah lets make a race that isn't completely affected by the force". That said, the only book I ever read was SPINTER IN THE MIND'S EYE, so my knowledge of the quality of the books themselves is pretty thin.

If we don't hate Mr. Adler for his comments, why would we hate you for yours?

Mage is the best class, IMO. It also fits the best with the story, again IMO. A distant second for me is a bow wielding rogue, mainly because some of the abilities are pretty fun to use. Duel-wielding daggers rogue sucks, IMO. Sword and shield warriors are great tanks who just use guard and never fall. One handed warriors are sort of like duel-wielding rogues: they suck. I think mage is the best class but also enjoyed the bow and dual wielding rogue both. Dual wielding became more fun when adding the specialization. I think part of the problem (IMO) with the fighter classes is that there is, ultimately, so little utility for them. They have a specific role and they do that role and little else. There's a bit more versatality with the other classes. This of course makes dwarves a bit duff, IMO, as they can't be mages, so half their classes are kinda dull. I'm nearing, I think, the end of Jaws of Hakkon. I think I liked The Descent better, but I like the Deep Roads stuff a good bit in previous games. I just found duel-wielding rogues to be too easily killed, yet not delivering that much extra damage (relatively speaking) to have them along in place of a warrior as a melee option. I found that having two warriors act as shields and damage sponges up front, with two ranged attackers (usually a mage and an archer rogue) worked best in most combat encounters, and particularly well versus the tougher bosses. That's why I rarely had Cole in my party. Very early on they were weak - first time through I stopped playing and went for another character. I kept getting killed by heat seeking bears. But there's a tipping point where they go from weak to pretty useful, usually with use of stealth and skills and trying to second target whoever the tanks were fighting (and it seems you find a lot of good daggers early on). Once I got to specialization I took Tempest. Flask of Ice - any one who hits gets Ice Damage, Flask of Fire - abilities cost no stamina and opponents get knocked away when they try and hit. Flask of Lightning - only PC moves for a short period of time. I was pretty much unstoppable at that point, using flasks and stealth to get in and out in the most damaging ways.

Kentucky County Clerk still Refuses to issue Gay Marriage License

Yeah, I actually find this internet disparaging of Davis through social media and memes to be in bad taste. I disagree with her and believe she should face the consequences of her (in)action, but this is still bullying. It will pass, the same sex marriage bill has global ramifications and is something that has ended decades of discrimination against the LGBT community.....it really was historical and important for the USA Davis decided to try to undermine this because she is a bigot and played the religious card to increase sympathy ...she deserves this " bullying " Nobody really deserves bullying, IMO. That said I'm not sure what she's getting is "bullying" so much as "public scorn". I suppose from her perspective it might feel like bullying, so I guess the situations a bit hazy. -

We know, we saw it on Facebook. -
I'm sorry, but IMO if you think a statement of opinion as benign as Adler's is "offensive" your "offensive meter" might be too sensitive. You also seem to think the statement is some sort of broad statement about Linux being "bad" as you subsequently spend much effort defending why it is "good". But it isn't a statement about Linux being good or bad. You also claim to be "not for censorship", but want the company to squash an employee's opinion because you don't like it which kind of is the opposite of "not for censorship".

I think she should follow the law or vacate her office.
