I hate k-pop and dont have a clue what this clip was about but any skimpy clothes on anime girls are + in my book Apparently the main characters in Genei Ibun Roku X FE - besides being Mirage Masters, able to summon "Mirages" (souls of warriors from other worlds and based on Fire Emblem characters) so they can fight evil Mirages - all belong to a Talent Agency so that they have to be Pop Stars AND save the world. As I understand it.

I am immediately changing my lesson plans and putting Bugs in as a central character. That may be the one time Bugs didn't get lost at Albuquerque.

I see Trigger and I think "Roy Roger's horse". Sad, but true.

Does it have to "trigger" a lived event to be considered triggering? I recall watching the infamous Budd Dwyer suicide footage and then stupidly showing the person next to me without giving them sufficient context. They freaked out and broke down crying. I figured that would count as a "triggering". Or maybe tumblr has rotted my brain. Idk. I don't claim expertise; my understanding is that, yes, the trigger would be for a lived event, however the context may be vastly different than you expect which may make it difficult in broad situations (which is where I understand the concern of moving trigger warnings to general population arises) to understand what might actually trigger someone. A victim of rape by their father may be triggered by discussion of rape, sex, fathers, father-child relationships and things that remind/connect to their father or their rape. But also by talk of siblings (if father raped them), mothers (if there's knew and did nothing), etc. But to be triggered one must have some unwanted, unpleasant experience that one isn't ready to cope with reliving. Often on the internet what I see are people trying to stop discussions that could trigger rather than have triggered, so my experience (limited and anecdotal as it is) is with those not triggered trying to protect those who could be (rather than are/have been) triggered.

For a second there I thought they'd just stranded the pair on the alien world. -
So...that article is unreadable to the average person. I don't even know what a trigger warning is. I'm interested in knowing more about the case, but there is no actual information in what you posted. Essentially, as I understand it, Sienkiewicz had a mentor who used a graphic novel that had adult content in a class as a required reading. A student complained that the content "triggered" them and that the teacher should have not used that text because it was triggering. Based on the complaint the teacher is suspended until the investigation complete (even though Sienkiewicz said they'd been fired he also said a suspension in a piece he quoted so its a bit unclear exactly what happened). I've seen no follow-up on this other than the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund (CBLDF) was looking into it. Trigger warnings are generally speaking specific to the idea that it will trigger and emotional/mental flashback to a traumatic event not, for example, warnings of graphic content (which would be a regular warning). The Vietnam Veteran who finds themselves back into the jungle when a firecracker goes off or the rape victim who re-experiences the rape when presented with sexual imagery or what have you is the kind of thing a Trigger Warning is designed to prevent. As far as I know - and anyone with more knowledge than me can correct me - trigger warnings started in Higher Education, specifically with Feminist groups on college campuses who in "safe space" discussions wanted to make sure that they didn't force rape victims still suffering from PTSD from reliving their rape due to the "safe space" being a place for open and frank discussions. Thus a request is made that if someone wants to discuss something that might be triggering (for example a member discussing their own abuse), then as a courtesy to other members of the group they should give warning that such triggering discussion was forthcoming so that those who weren't ready for such discussions could opt out if they wished to. It is further my understanding that their use outside of "safe space" discussions (like on the internet or in a general classroom) is highly controversial even among those who advocate for their use in "safe space" discussion groups. EDIT: Poor sentence structure, amid other problems.

October 12, Anniversary date of Columbus' arrival in the Americas (October 12, 1492). A US Federal Holiday. I believe it used to be a Federal Holiday for several South American countries as well, but I think these have been changed to things like Discovery Day (Bahamas) or Day of the Americas (Belize?) rather than to be specifically about Columbus.

No sport is inherently safe, of course. And Football in particular has gotten to be a game for bigger players (one of Grom's links has an "average" comparison of star defensive backs which seems to show how much bigger the guys now are). But like the modern equipment being a response to injuries with the old equipment, there needs to be an investment in research to improve the current technology. I'm sure it exists already, in fact, but its also possible that they may not be able to make it safer just with equipment without rules changes.

So sad. No wonder you've invested so much thought space to drone deployment.

Volo if you read the whole story the young women who has sex with the minor and the dad is clearly mentally unbalanced...this should help you be less critical of her behavior or at least not think she deserves the death penalty ? The article says " He said she was vulnerable and had a hard upbringing, spending two years in hospital with leukaemia between the ages of five and seven.Passing sentence Judge Tim Mousley QC said it was an exceptional case allowing him to step outside the rigours of the sentencing guidelines. He said: "Having read everything before me, it was quite clear he was a mature 11-year-old and you were an immature 20-year-old so that narrows the arithmetic age gap between you Its clear this case was decided on unusual circumstances which I can understand I'm not sure how "having a hard life" excuses the actions.

I've heard good things about Trick 'r Treat. My brother may have a copy, might see if I can borrow it. EDIT: Apparently the director of Trick 'r Treat is behind this December's KRAMPUS film (the Krampus plays a small part in A CHRISTMAS HORROR STORY as well).

Saw a low budget film, a small theatrical release of A CHRISTMAS HORROR STORY. Its an anthology although instead of 5 independent tales, the tales actually all take place in the same town and the characters/story sometimes make reference of each other. Also the stories unfold together rather than being told to completion before starting the next. Stories were (and trying to not spoil it): Three teens sneak into their 'closed for Christmas' Catholic School to investigate a murder of two of their classmates a year ago A family runs into trouble when they visit an elderly relative and break a prized figurine An estranged husband and wife try to reconcile over Christmas, but something is causing their son to have bizarre behavior Santa faces a zombie outbreak among the elves of the North Pole William Shatner is a DJ working the night shift at the local radio station (and acts as the framing and connective device between all episodes). In terms of effect, I think the one with the "strange acting son" comes off the best. There's some effectively creepy images and ideas and while it isn't perfect (one element with the husband/dad is particularly clumsy), I think its the strongest. The visit one is good when it gets into it but the family is so loathsome to start with its hard to get into. Once the meat of the story starts, it turns out pretty effective with a nice end (although one pretty telegraphed). Santa facing the zombie elves is a funny idea and there are some effective zombie fight sequences but feels rather repetitive in the middle. The movie subtly establishes how it ties in with the other stories, but its easy to miss so may be the best "twist" ending. The three kids had some effective moments and (outside of Shatner's DJ) possibly the best developed characters, but it also perhaps needed more time to explain. Unfortunately it has a somewhat repetitive middle once they get trapped in the school and the end while somewhat explained doesn't actually make sense based on the information we have leaving the whole thing somewhat unsatisfying. That said, I think the movie itself was a lot of fun (plus, Shatner) and worth seeing for fans of low budget horror films.

Of course you kid, we all know you'd make it to the end of your second drink so that you don't spill any during the ensuing brawl.

Yeah AFAIK Semester Credit hour = 2/3 Quarter Credit Hour. So 5 quarter credit hour class is equivilent to 3.33 semester credits

I think there's only so much they can do with Lash (who was heavily stylized anyway) on a TV budget. I thought it worked for what it was. Overall I thought Season 3 of AoS started strong. -
Why do you need to celebrate it in order to condone it? And neither side seems willing to do anything about those who will attack the other side so they are, at least through inaction, condoning it. GG has been against harassment since the beginning, they even tracked down the guy who made bomb threats to Anita in Brazil and offered her information on how to press charges. What has happened since then, only Anita knows. Or the numerous time Brianna Wu has been doxxed on /gg/ at 8chan and users willingly reporting to the mods to delete the info? aGG has been quite proud about trying to people get fired for being part of GG, tried to shut down 8chan permanently, tried to falsify that 8chan hosted child porn, they shut down pretty much all the discussion of GG in most places (4chan, reddit, etc), falsingly claiming that GG are racists, misogynists, rapists and everything that is bad in this world. So who here is being unreasonable? who here wants to give anyone a chance to speak? who wants to silence everyone? who wants control and who wants just to be left alone and play games? I agree GG has probably taken more steps in some cases. I still see fringe elements claiming GG-hood and harrasing people being referenced and so my wonder is why does it persist? Is it just too many people to check everyone? Is it the nature of things on the Internet? I do see aGG not really doing anything about their harrassing elements. Just by publishing the story online, he's established copyright. No need to formally copyright it with the government.

I decided to mess around with Aarklash: Legacy. So far I've enjoyed it.

Yes and knowing that, neither side seems all that bothered by stopping - or even complaining - about it as long as the targets are the ones they want them to be. Curious or SOP? Why do you need to celebrate it in order to condone it? And neither side seems willing to do anything about those who will attack the other side so they are, at least through inaction, condoning it. That's kind of how I saw it too. As I mentioned I think Carrera has had better more interesting arguments. Which in one hand is understandable if regretable. What I'm curious about is the phenomenon where loosely affiliated Group A sees Self-Identifying Group Member 13854 going on a vitriol tear and just silently nods because, hey, they're attacking the "enemy". Its that mentality I don't understand. And its made worse when Group A protests that Group B has members that spread the same vitriol against them. The vitriol is either right or wrong; I reject the argument that there are no bad tactics just bad targets. I thought the author made some good points.

I'm pretty sure Meshugger was using "war" in a pretty loose and figurative way. No one here has suggested it's okay to shoot anyone, burn a person's house down, or issue death threats. We are all against real harassment here and no one wants to see anyone come to any physical harm, regardless of how much we may disagree with or dislike certain people. You might want to cut back on the sauce and dial the accusatory tone down a bit. Relax. I wasn't suggesting anyone had suggested anything I mentioned, so I'm not sure why you suggest I did? Mind you I'm not exactly sure why my request for calm and rational debate was met with a "THIS IS SPARTA...I mean WAR!" response either, and I'm even further confused that somehow anyone would think my clearly facetious response to a somewhat confusing reply was remotely serious in nature. Bottom line: I don't understand why either side wants to keep the barnacles on their boat which, metaphorically speaking, represent those who issue death threats, doxx, etc people on either or both sides. And as we get more and more days/months/years into this long raging internet disagreement it confuses me more and more.
-
Wait, what? Did you forget to take your meds this morning? Meshugger said it was a "war between good and evil"1 in response to my call for calm, rational discussion and a move for both sides to call out the ****-stirrers who have no interest in anything but furthering arguments for lewls. So just trying to see how war-like this war between good and evil for the soul of art is. Because it seems like so far both sides are okay with at least phoning in bomb threats to places the other side is speaking at (or to their own so they can blame the opposite side).
-
So its okay if I shoot a person because they're trying to censor art? Or how about if I burn their house down? Mail them death threats? Exactly how far can I go and still be okay because I'm defending art? Seriously, I'm very much a proponent for not censoring game content because of "feels", but I think there is a proper way to with this argument. And allowing provocateurs to stir the **** on both sides and not calling it out because some of it happens to be against targets you don't like just ain't right, IMO.

Sad news, Catherine E. Coulson (aka The Log Lady aka Margaret Lantermann in TWIN PEAKS) has passed away. She was 71. http://welcometotwinpeaks.com/news/catherine-e-coulson-log-lady-deceased/
