  1. I was just looking at that...not 100% sure but it made me pay attention at least.
  2. I dunno, bad voice acting can be distracting (cf many games at the dawn of voice acting in games).
  3. The American Dream passed away in June. He was 69.
  4. Yes, but if your phone/tablet/PC is on the lawn in the morning, you can't be sure the zombie apocalypse didn't start overnight.
  5. Infocom's Sorcerer. Nothing captures the feeling of being a mage then waking up in the Guild Hall and starving to death because you can't figure out what to do to escape the place. The place where you live and, presumably, never had problems getting out of before. I think mages face that all the time.
  6. No popup ads, quick load times and you can be pretty sure if the newspaper is on the lawn in the morning, the world didn't end in a zombie apocalypse over night.
  7. (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻) How dare you not anger me! Seriously, haven't played the expansion or the new patch stuff yet, so mostly here to hopefully bring good cheer.
  8. Konami ending all AAA development? http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2015-09-18-konami-ceases-triple-a-console-production-on-all-but-pes-report And new Japanese Persona 5 Trailer (amid news the title has been delayed since 2016)
  9. Wired's absurd creature of the week reminded me of this thread; http://www.wired.com/2015/09/absurd-creature-week-tiny-adorable-critter-half-kangaroo-half-velociraptor/
  10. it's either a very weird mutated cross breed, or its missing several vertebrae "Dillenbeck told Al.com Pig has multiple health issues, including missing ribs, incorrectly rotated joints, and damaged vertebrae." http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2814571/Pig-Dog-gets-DNA-tested-reveals-unusually-shaped-half-canine-mix-pit-bull-chow-chow-boxer.html
  11. Okay there's got to be a story there on that dog...?
  12. And yet, human nature being what it is, I imagine "Is it okay for me to bone this?" will still be at the top of the list of questions.
  13. I only caught part of the Nova before falling unconscious, but it was interesting stuff.
  14. I thought it was Darth Pilates. My bad.
  15. RE: ISIS, I imagine that Trump believes he can go after the assets of ISIS and its supporters as a way to stranglehold their ability to operate, and that would either be through lawsuits (if US operating organizations) or international courts, I'd think. Not that it means he'd be effective, just I imagine that is what he's trying to get at.
  16. I think the New York Times Style guide actually puts 's on plural abbreviations, but this is - again as I recall - so body text can match their titles.
  17. Well there was the "Obsidian Order" pledges; by topping the Kickstarter pledge with a certain dollar amount you could join the Obsidian Order, hence all the ___ of the Obsidian Order and such.
  18. IIRC the titles themselves correspond to the old D&D titles for magic-users. And credit to Magister Lajciak where-ever he/she should roam now...
  19. I don't know if Obsidian ever did an official list but...
  20. Well wanting a big P or big DDs are rather conventional and the appeal understandable. Roleplaying a pedophile is way deeper down the rabbit hole. Sure it is, not saying it isn't. I'm just saying because its out there doesn't make it true (or false). There's a lot more investigation needed to determine that, if warranted.
  21. Neither am I. However I do know that on the internet all women have 34DDs and all men had 2 foot long penors if they want them. The idea that someone posting **** when they think they're anonymous isn't new to the internet. At one point the magic of the internet was that you were who you wanted to be. Want to be a villain? Be a villain. Want to be a nice girl? Be a nice girl. Want to like dwarves? GO DWARFS GO! Didn't actually matter if you weren't a villain, weren't a girl or hated dwarves. Neither do I. Once discovered I'd expect responsible journalism to take place. Fair, balanced, well sourced and, yeah, in the case of uncovering potential criminal activity some contact with the police. Actually if she distributed child porn (which has been one of the accusations) the family has no say in it. It may also be out of the statute of limitations for prosecution based on the state even if something had happened that was actionable. I just find it lacking that the article doesn't even present pursing legal review (as they present the evidence as true) as an option in the articles. Yeah the reaction there is kind of sad. Not unexpected since aGG and GG tend to have a "look at the source then look at the information" approach to filtering information. Situational allies are a dodgy proposition. I can't help but think one that has the potential to come back and haunt.
  22. Who is arguing that? I hear there are police officers and that they're actually really useful in getting the laws of the land enforced. And I hear that sometimes, journalists actually work with law enforcement to cover stories where they've uncovered criminal acts. So you think Milo would have investigated 7-12 year old chatlogs of just anyone? 'Cause if so I'm pretty sure that there are a lot of people who were 22 in 2005 quaking in their boots now. Neither do I. However there's not a lot of credible evidence on display. Even with that, I can understand how the story might be considered news but I've found the reporting incomplete and highly reliant on assuming that criminal activity has taken place (because, why bring in the police and risk having them determine nothing actionable happened) If you're writing an article, there actually is a really good reason to report its been done because not doing so is leaving facts out of the story and also presents unproven ideas as facts. People read these articles and assume that crimes did happen and have acted accordingly. The harassment since these articles has been vile. And since we're talking about ethical journalism, by not going that extra step to work with police to determine that something did/didn't happen I think the articles have been irresponsible IMO and encouraged the threats and harrassment. YMMV.
  23. Well arguably aGG is against "harassment of women and minorities online" and believes GG is a hate group designed to silence women and minorities. Arguably GG is against "unethical behavior in journalism" and believes aGG is a hate group designed to protect unethical journalists by using women and minorities as shields against criticism of their unethical behavior. The problem is that aGG and GG both have harassed and attempted to silence everyone who is critical or it and/or sides with the other side - women and men, majorities and minorities, sexual orientations of all kind. I guess that makes both side's true primary focus "winning" in any way possible, no matter how hypocritically?
  24. I confess, I actually have no clue what you mean.
  25. This probably won't be a popular opinion, but... Having glanced over the logs when this came to light earlier, my first thought was it looks like the kind of ****posting a lot of people do trying to get a rise out of people. Could be wrong of course, but ultimately isn't that something for for the police to discover, not the internet? I've seen someone say "well it must be true, because it was said repeatedly for years". But we have examples in our own community that have kept up alts for years. I kept up a mod personality account for a couple of years myself on Black Isle. We have posters like Gromnir or Sargalath Abraxium who have maintained a posting style for almost 20 years. Back on USENET there was a group of Discordian posters that maintained a chaotic posting style for years because it allowed them to maintain connected to their internet group. Sure there's some wonkyness with her defense post (like indicating 4Chan community acceptance as being a motivational factor potentially prior to its creation). It being wonky from a timeline perspective doesn't make the basic argument wrong. Yes it throws doubt on the situation but people with troubled pasts will often compress time and events. In such a scenario spiritual precursors to 4Chan would be easy to confuse with 4Chan itself. Maybe this is the case, maybe not. But lets say the doubt is enough that you think the explanation doesn't work. So you think someone has abused a relative? Or have proof? Or even an admission of guilt from that person? The appropriate thing is to contact the police. If you're a news outlet and you uncover a crime you work with the police and cover that story. But that doesn't seem to be happening. And, not coincidentally, it didn't seem to happen at the time the posts were made. So either the chatposters were some awful people or...they thought she was ****posting too. The problem with arguing SJW = "Its okay when we do it" is that it seems that Gamersgate has become (or always been) the same thing. There hasn't been made - in at least the articles I've read - any attempt to make a connection between this information on Nyberg and ethics in journalism; its presented solely as an attempt to discredit an aGG opinion article writer and thus the other side by association. Which is the exact same thing the aGG side is accused of doing every time they claim GG is a vehicle for harassment by associating harassers who claim affiliation with GG as legitimately representing GG which GGers have been claiming is bad form for over a year. GG and aGG appear more and more like different sides of the same coin in this. Same tactics, same demonization, same moral outrage whenever anyone points out that each side is using tactics they accuse the other of using. And to be completely honest a lot of responses to Nyberg I've seen haven't been "I think you've committed criminal acts, I'm contacting the police" but instead has been "look at the freak" style stuff that is frankly uncomfortable and doesn't seem easily connected to any kind of ethics in journalism argument.
