^The %75 side steam-dev split but we dont know the details yet^ ...but this thing is another example of Free Labor. While peasants fight for some change bigger companies gets the cash. What a good way to make revenue from modders. No need to worry for social worries, payments, health... anything. No need for devs to hire real employee just make money from modders back. This was all started from TF2 workshop, gigabytes of items sold and made millions to the one company and split the %25 to other houndred thousants of modders. While some may argue Its better than nothing lets Its not really true. In the long run this is not a real full time job and for those who (real employee) made their living by this are gona get paid much much less because of this. Not the mention there is no infustructure to prevent stealling the modders work! There are allready fake accounts publishing some mods as their own nd making money of It. How are they gona protect the publishers? How are they gona protect the consumers about false projects or abondoning (bugged-out) projects? You cant just make one button and expect a good service. This is absolutly greedy system on Steams behalf really upset by this s***. Also no wonder Todd Howard behind this s*** and be the first conpany to make this happen outside the Valve. Also, I'm upset with another thing which is Steam just made something and throw the modders into the gamers feet. Therefore now modders have to deal with this s***storm and Gaben just grabs his popcorn while counts his money. What a utter s***storm this is

This is a joke, right? Cities: Skylines is still in the top 10 fastest selling games on Steam (since March 10th, so ~40 days now), has been on that list more or less continuously since it was released (despite several high profile AAA launches), and has just passed 1 million units sold (according to SteamSpy). And it has done all of this at a tiny fraction of the budget of SimCity 2014? If that's not hitting it out of the park, then I think your standards are unreasonable, to say the least. Now, it is perfectly reasonable to say that PoE hasn't (and won't) "crushed" DAI, but I suspect it probably has met or exceeded Obsidian's internal sales targets -- in short, "an OK entrance to the industry". But to say the same thing about Skylines... No It wasnt a joke. Skylines is a marketing success, yes. Just because It fully supports modding doesnt make It good. A broken traffic simulation game which is fed from the hatred of simcity 2013 is not a successfull game for my liking. Then why did I have so much fun with Skylines whereas the latest Sim City releases sucked balls for me? :/ I'm confused... Dont get confused, we are different people =)

Just Right? (Difficulty that is)
ruzen replied to Marceror's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
In every game -from childish to professional- the rules, what makes the game or breaks the game. What I felt like after 30-40 hours the rules of the game restrains my imagination or skill/tallent and after more hours, the game became unbearable level of easy. Because of the rules of the combat and the diffuculty, I keep playing the same tricks and stopped looking beastry. and after more hours I stopped playing. Couse I felt like I'm playing someones game who is spoil sport. so no the diffuculty is not right. Because the challange is not there to begin with. Once to become used to it and get to 4-5 levels the game becomes too borring. Because the only big gameplay element is combat and If that doesnt do well then game become unbearable. Take a look at this example. Arcanums combat could be quite annoying in some areas(because of some OP spells, darkness thing,etc..) but It wasnt the only gameplay element you could have use. You could be talking, sneaking, gambling your way out without a single sword swing you could beat the game. Imagine If Arcanum could only have unbalanced combat It couldnt be the classic today. -

Party Dialogue Checks?!?!
ruzen replied to Brimsurfer's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Well I guess this (OP) is consider "exploit" by the developers with 6 member 6 different talent you can exploit the dialoge options and you know how Obsidians feel about "exploits". ...but for the sake of the this game. There is no party mechanic here. It could be pretty OP when you have no alignments or generally no management for party and have all the dialoge options avaliable. -
PoE has too much clicking!
ruzen replied to Marceror's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
In seriousness, if there were party AI, I'm pretty sure I'd have it turned off 90% of the time anyways. Just like I did in IE. So what was the point? -

too much random junk

A hero shouldnt be filling his/hers backback with lots of swords and armors; Its imersion breaking. Usually you dont undress every man, woman or things you killed. Its a maniac level on different level but In most games the income is a problem so therefor the best idea to prevent making player to feel like he/she's playing diablo: some enemies drop gold. You are going to sell the "common" items anyway so why do all this work Its like we are in need of gold and selling scraps to live. I belive the best way is the loot should be somewhere in the dungeons: treasure chest or some npc's possession. ...but again this unlimited inventory thinge' limits everything. As I mentions most games are kinda forse to make a income in game so selling "loot" is a feature most rpg has but the sad thing is the loot is generally turned into weapons & armor where It should have been an artifact, old scrools, etc...Also there is another wasted opportunity rises: The stronghold. You could have make the players rely on stronghold income so we wouldnt strating to grab everything undrees every oponent like a deranged "hero/adventurer" The wasted potential of this game is more than Troika games but with less fun. -

too much random junk
ruzen replied to Ichthyic's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Making players their main income is selling junkfull of items... Some may call "reasiltic" but I say poor call on devs ( or who suggested the style) behalf. Generally you dont try to make them feel like scrap hunters (except in some cases) because Its not fun to loot 999 useless weapons and sell them 999 times. So thats why generally killing mobs gives you gold and sometimes drops regular items, which is same thing without clicking 999 times. Also you have to put real HARD efford to balance those prices but wtih just gold style you can do it easly and be smartly avoid useless borring clicking.
