I know what this game needs.
Gorth replied to Maria Caliban's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Try asking a vegetarian that question :D Seriously though, try watching the movie "Osama" for some interesting insight into what other cultures consider "natural". It all depends in what moral values you were indoctrinated with, in whatever society you live in. -
What have past romances done right/wrong?

If you want to be all "natural" about it, Jedi knights are not allowed love (implies no sex either ), so they should just remove it completely from all Jedi players and npcs. It's not natural for jedis having any thoughts about the subject altogether. Would make an interesting game, if all you could do was helping non-jedi npc's with their own love life (and disasters) -

Doomdarks Revenge. All about grand scale war for the sake of love lost... the game is probably older than half the boardmembers though. Heart of Winter. (IWD expansion), Ichasaracht (spelling?) is wrecking havock on the world after the death of her mate... A stack of FF games (I don't know any of them) ? It would probably turn out to be a very long list... -

No, it didn't come naturally I like roleplaying games, as in, I try to empathize with my character. Playing male is more familiar to me for some reason. The only other game I played a female lead in was Tombraider I-IV. Since you didn't have any emotional involvement (although some study of her anatomy and inertia was involved) with Ms. Croft, it was just your sexless character jumping, crawling, shooting etc. Your "handy extension of my will" Actually trying to live the part of the opposite sex in a roleplaying sense turned out to be quite a challenge. Honestly ? I was taken by surprise. I hadn't expected LA to greenlight it, as they are normally known as beeing almost Disney like in their so-called "political correctness". Especially since it's a topic for some heated debate in LA's home country. If they had introduced a male Revan/Carth romance... :D My attempts at roleplaying might would have been seriously challenged, but only for a while. The more unusual stuff (compared to "traditional" rpg's) they put in the game, the better. Thats why I said in my post that, I'm all game, even if it's just for the challenge of playing something that is so different from the real me. -

Heh, gives new meaning to the relationship between a male Revan and Malak... Master and apprentice... *resist naughty comments*... Actually that would be quite a challenge. Heck, I found it almost impossible to play a female Revan. Seriously, how are you supposed to know how to act as a woman ?!? . When Juhani started hitting on my female Revan, my jaw hit the space bar. I say, bring it on. Could definitely increase the "difficulty" of the game, depending on your sex and sexual orientation -
I would love a nice horror crpg as an alternative to the horror fps games out there. Nothing against Resident Evil (not really a fps, more like a horror Kotor...), it has the right atmosphere, the controls just suck on a pc. MCA, say hello to Lovecraft, Lovecraft, meet MCA

Hmmm... How about the most recent save, independently of whether it was manually or autosaved ? People (me!) sometimes runs blindly into danger... Sometimes the autosave is the newest, if the game doesn't autosave before you get yourself killed, your most recent manual save, whether quicksave or ordinary save slot, would be convenient.

Depends slightly on you requirements. You said introductory, but introductory C or introductory C++ ? While having similarities they do differ somewhat in their architecture when "designing" programs. Some books are better at introducing programming paradigms, others are more platform specific. Personally, I had a lot of use from "Teaching yourself C in 21 days" published by Sams (not sure of the exact name, was a long time ago). I needed to catch up with VS6 and Windows

I thought birds migrate before winter comes so they can avoid it. You also have to take into account that different kinds sparrows have different migratory habits. Heres the White-throated Sparrow Migration for example. http://www.nwf.org/wildlife/whitethroateds...w/migration.cfm Introduction This common backyard bird is known for its distinctive song "Old Sam Peabody, Peabody, Peabody" or "My Sweet Canada, Canada, Canada." It spends the summer in Canada, New England states, northern New York and around the Great Lakes. It winters in the southern United States. It fills forests of both countries with its melody Heh, thought so. Forget if Sargy, there are too few sparrows in Icewind Dale to make your story credible It was Nym all the way.

From game development to timber exports? Hmmmm....ok. Interesting career choice. Thanks. Must have something to do with being Canadian...

I'll have to test the thing with using coconuts to undo virgins. Sounds very interesting. There was a few details that I didn't understand though. I can understand the need to trade for coconuts, the climate in Icewind Dale being generally unfavourable for coconut growth. But wouldn't it be more likely the Nym started the coconut trade in the first place (in secret) to destabilize the market ? And also, I'm pretty sure that Orrick's so called "Mythal Studies" were a cover up for his real studies, the aforementioned virgin undoing abilities of coconuts. Come on, the guy has been living alone in that tower forever (except the company of a goblin, Eek!) Sparrows are birds. Birds live in nests. Nests are build in trees. Kuldahar has friggin big tree. 'Nuff said. It was bound to happen that sparrows would be involved somehow. Leaves the question, do sparrows migrate during winter ? Icewind Dale is sort of one long winter.

Hitchhikers guide to coconut carrying swallows

Sunflower seed fed african swallows might have a greater chance of carrying a coconut then the Squirrel Posse. Although... there is still the problem of getting a good grip on a coconut ?!?

Poor spam quality.

Well i think you are right. What i am actually saying is that the programming of the KotOR`s engine was bad cause i have a AMD 2700+ with ATi 9600XT & 500MB RAm and still can`t play it well at 1024x760 resolution! It may be the drivers you're using with your Radeon. Any drivers later then the 4.2 Catalyst drivers seem to have serious problems with KOTOR. I had to go back from the 4.5 drivers because I was getting less then 5 FPS in some places of the game. After I re-installed the older ones I got much higher frame rates. I would suspect your drivers too of playing tricks on you. I have a slightly similar setup, though with a nVidia card. Runs absolutely smoothly in something like 1600x1200 with all effects on.

KOTOR 2 Interview with ValhallaGamers

Would probably be an ungrateful task with the engine they have at the moment. Enemies line up to the left, friends to the right, there you go, start hacking and slashing at each other. While having other limitations, isometric 3D actually offers a better tactical view for games, where you can expand your one dimensional combat into two dimensional combat by having "depth" and manouvres (spelling?) as part of your tactical options.

What do you think the twist(s) will be in KOTOR II

Leather clothing, rivets, high heels and a whip ?

Combat was probably on the easy side (most of the combats, with a few exceptions). Problem was that you levelled up too fast and too high in the game.
-
I'm guilty of voting Don't care... They could remove more of the combat of they wanted to, it was just a tedious distraction from the story and the game. No bonus points for guessing like I like roleplaying better than combat games (unless of course, you consider Kill Bill style combat games as roleplaying ) As long as it comes with a combat difficulty slider where I can adjust combat to suit my casual attitutde towards combat, I'm perfectly fine.

What do you think the twist(s) will be in KOTOR II
Gorth replied to Tyrell's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
The game plays in two time periods, one is a flashback to the Mandalorian Wars where you do stuff, then flashback to the "present" where past actions impact your choices, then flashback to the past, to the present etc. Then you'll have a game that happens 5 years before and 5 years after Kotor1 -
Not even two swallows are strong enough to carry a coconut. Not even if trying to use the thermals of Lac Dinneshire
