  1. You could learn something from Singapore then. They have the death penalty for arms possession, drug possession, kidnapping etc. I don't know the numbers, but I would guess they have very few repeat offenders.
  2. There is always Guantanamo bay... On a more serious note, I've always felt uncomfortable with the death penalty for the simple reason that the system is not perfect and innocent people sometimes gets convicted falsely. Sometimes they get released again when proven innocent after all. Very hard to even partially apologise to/recompensate a dead man. Accepting the killing of a few innocents here and there as collateral damage just to "get back" at serious offenders is not good civilised behaviour in my book. As for the actual case, I would like to say that castration and a tattoo on the forehead would do, if it wasn't for the fact that is just as permanent damage to a man as the death sentence. Separating him indefinitely from society does seems like the best solution, but thats just an (my) oppinion from somebody whose only encounter with the legal system is a speeding ticket. Since speeding sometimes is putting other peoples lives at risk, somebody out there would probably also think that it is worthy of the death sentence :ninja10:
  3. Spent Monday and Tuesday working in Sydney all day. Got bored with the Hotel and the entertainment there Monday night, so went for a night walk down to the harbour and a trip around the Opera House. Not sure what the crazy birds flying around over the building were doing, but it looked rather amusing when they were in the upwards pointing spotlights, gliding around in the air. Looked a bit like those old WWII documentaries where they show night bombers being caught in the searchligts. Flew to Adelaide tuesday night and grabbed a rental car, off to the countryside to stay and work for a few days. Im Westen nichts Neues...
  4. Isn't there an option in Windows (possibly depending on version) that allows you to see icons on your desktop or not? Maybe it got toggled somehow? Just speculating on what could match your description.
  5. I installed Kotor2 again... Now just waiting... I'll be a good boy... promise...
  6. Arghhh! That reminds me of my first encounter with Kiwi Cuisine (although that toxic green glowing gunk was called "Vegemite") It would be nice if they just called it by it's right name and said: "Here is our very own most belowed PC games that we can remember right now.". Admittedly, it doesn't sound quite as catchy, but at least it would be honest. If they wanted to be serious about it, they need to separate genre and list a set of rules and criteria up front that they judge each games merits on. As it is, it's just as good as any Obsidian Forum Poll
  7. Heh, nothing a Google search couldn't fix. Seifer seems to be the proper spelling... http://www.ffshrine.org/ff8/ff8_chars.php Can't say I ever got into the games. The FF8 demo for PC years ago being my only experience with it, totally put me off.
  8. My thoughts exactly when I ran into that "feature". As it turned out (somebody pointed out to me) what happens is, in the scripted encounter/party changes (i.e. outside the Flagon), it sends a "Hold your Ground" message to your party members when done with the selection screen. The work around is to select you character and then broadcast a "Follow Me" command. Watch them wake up and follow you again
  9. That is not what they are doing. In the end the cat lands on its feet. In anti-grav. That's pretty amazing. Actually, it looks like it doesn't. Assuming that cats land on their feet and assuming that there is no "down" for the cat to land on, it should go into an ever increasing spin until it reaches infinite rotation speed. Thats what it looks like is about to happen in the video, if it hadn't been for human intervention when one of them grabs the cat again If they didn't interfere, would the location of the cat turn into a singularity?
  10. Custom builds... Just couldn't imagine buying a computer which I didn't know inside out. Going to build a new one in the near future. I had to "cheat" a bit to get a Windows XP Pro for my new computer to be. The retail stores claim that they don't have XP on stock anymore and all they wanted to sell me was Vista. Time to find a less than legit version of XP and make it fail the genuine windows test thing. Microsoft then offers you to buy a legit version shipped directly from Microsoft (and much cheaper than the old retail store price). I am such a crook. Ironically, I had to do it twice because the first one I found passed the check. I'll wait for Windows Vienna (at least, thats what I think it's code name is) which should be out in two years time.
  11. Which is more than you think Edit: As for New Reno in FO2, it felt out of place, I still liked though. It would just have been more appropriate for a 1920-1930 organised crime type crpg...
  12. I saw an Uwe Boll movie... Stuck in hotel room late at night (and I couldn't be bothered to do any more work), it was either "Bloodrayne" or some generic adult movie. I should have gone for the xxx one, at least the acting, directing, story, camera, lighting, plot and music would have been better
  13. Are the parents wealthy and/or in a position of power/influence? It could be blackmailing. A disgruntled patient of the cardiologist? It could be an opportunistic hotel employee, trying to make a buck (selling the girl to the highest bidder). Or just someone unrelated hanging around the tourists waiting for something with a sufficient perceived market value to get his hands on. It could be one of the parents. Maybe they are not happy people? Too few facts at the moment to do anything but speculating wildly.
  14. I really have to try this one some day When I feel particularly brave that is...
  15. No idea how, but I agree it definitely feels like it's always dawn, night or dusk in the game. I guess thats why they call it Neverwinter Nights 2 Still playing X-Com 3. Finally got personal disruptor shields for my troopers. My medical bills dropped like a rock and I now only need half the amount of men in my roster (since 2/3 of them no longer hang around being seriously injured).

    Spam

Use the proper noun, indicated with the first letter as a capital, as per agreement with the makers. Hormel originally were a little upset that their product had become a byword for unwanted, useless (and tasteless) crap, but then (I guess when they realised the amount of marketing it resulted in) they were happy as long as "spam" was the internet verbiage and "Spam" was their tasty product. From the article you linked to... I'll just stick with the SPAM All Uppercase Edition (thats what they print on the cans anyway)

    Spam

I have a can of SPAM lying around in my kirchen drawer. I bought it six months ago out of curiosity. It's just... I have no clue what to with it >_ How are you supposed to eat that stuff?!? And no, google search for spam gave 217,000,000 pages. Not sure where to start.
  18. Hanharr. Finally a wookie worth fearing (unlike all his whiny, whimpering walking carpet relatives who features in movies and other games).
  19. Every little detail counts. Oh, the Pun! Meh, wasn't there something about various appendages being available in one of the patches. Maybe there is a console command there can give her what she needs. Maybe she would look good with bat wings too...
  20. Sadly no. I patched the game first thing after installing. Ah well, some other time perhaps.
  21. Nope. Straight to 1.05 Either it has been amputated by the bandits that were harassing her at Fort Locke, or it was part of one of the previous patches (and missing from the 1.05 cumulative patch) or I was just plain unlucky that the game decided that she should miss one of her most prominent features next to her horns Edit: Anybody got some needle and thread?
  22. What did they do to Neeschka's tail?!? I just reinstalled NWN2 and patched it from 1.00 to 1.05. I swear, when I first played it and patched it gradually 1.00, 1.01, 1.02 etc. a tail appeared on Neeshkas butt after one of the patches Now her tail is gone again
  23. What age range are you in? __ 18-24 __ 25-30 __ 31-55 __ 56+ Are you male or female? __ Male __ Female Do you think overpopulation is a problem? __ Yes __ No What do you think should be done to solve it? __ A maximum limit of children per family enforced by law. __ Colonization of currently non-habitable environs. With the global warming, both Siberia and Greenland should become new prime quality farmland __ Nothing, new technologies will be developed to allow us to place more people in the same area without stripping the planet of its resources. __ Nothing because I
