  1. Come up with obvious solutions? Probably not. If I had a silverbullet that eliminated game balance issues and still kept players happy, I could probably end up a rich man. Or work for blizzard/bethesda/whoever makes games that appeal to a large demographic. Worth the development time to implement? No idea, since I haven't followed the games development, i.e. no clue how much resources went into it. If I should hazard a guess, a simple compromise between PST and BG2 might have been more cost efficient (i.e. only rest in certain areas or constantly being ambushed in unsafe places or both). Ah well, they had an idea, they implemented it. Odds are, I will find it more aggravating than fun, but not enough to ruin the overall experience. I wouldn't be surprised it there was a hack around somewhere already to disable the curse. Speaking of which... help! I closed my spirit meter bar. How the heck to you open the thing again? I checked the manual, no help, options -> keyboard shortcuts, no help.
  2. My memory is getting a bit fuzzy regarding this part by now... isn't there some kind of stat bonus that only T3 can get on the yacht?
  3. @Volourn + Gromnir: Points taken. I can't say if I agree or not, since I haven't completed the game yet (suspect I still have quite a bit of way left to go) Maybe I should have made it a more elaborate "how?". It was a question to Volourns "it *could* have been handled much better" part. Assuming it was to prevent players from sleeping and rebuffing I was just curious as to how to handle that much better. The curse doesn't bother me YET, but then, my spell caster have so many spells at these levels, that running out of ammunition doesn't happen very often, hence less need for resting compared to low level play.
  4. I suspected as much. I noticed earlier in the game, that not everything is linear in this world... what a refreshing change No big arrows that says "This way -->"
  5. How? Ok, made my way to the Skein. I am desperate to finds a certain old hag, so I can slit her throat... anything to make her stop "singing" >_ Got a few good laughs on my way down there though, especially the genasi prince and his experiences with ogre brew (made of fermented rodents among others) and the battle where my pet lich decided to help me out. All for the glory of Imaskar of course One thing left me puzzled, but I might revisit that if I make it back to the suface alive some day (with my sanity intact), and that is a girl in a cabin who seems trapped in a dream, hopelessly in love with Gann. I almost didn't believe my ears in the cabin btw. playing that music, like from an old vinyl record
  6. Completely illogical, but it is spelled out  I miss the teary eyed smilie too. As for favourite soundtracks, I guess most of my favourites are from 8 & 16 bit games. They may not have had 5.1 surround features, but those composers were creative enough to overcome the technical limitations of the hardware and create classics. Most stuff featuring Rob Hubbard, Martin Galway, Paul Norman, Anthony Crowther, Ben Daglish & David Whittaker Honorable mention to Jim Cuomo for the "Defender of the Crown" sound track. As for recent games, favourite soundtracks would be: VMBL, IWD, PS:T, Fallout & Kotor2. Since I have only started MotB, I can't really add it to any list yet.
  7. Yeah. I remember complaining about the box art showing Kreia with two arms, yet you spend most of the game having a single armed Kreia. Clearly a case of misleading advertising
  8. So, finally you confronted your lycantrophobia! There is no such thing as an unkillable werewolf. Currently splitting my time between Europa Universalis III and Mask of the Betrayer. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. has to take the backseat for a while, at least until completing MotB.
  9. Indomitable Guided Missile System Or was it Isaacs Greater Missile Storm? The D&D version of cluster bombs
  10. If "Cant" is right, this might be a good place to admit this place would be more boring without "Gromnir"

That is of course based on the assumption that he doesn't give a and never read his own profile.

In case he does, just ignore and suggest that he adds "HA! Good fun" (sp?) to his personal statement. If not there, where else ;)

  11. Oh, but it does. It costs you a lot of your social standing among your fellow forumites when they know that you are doing evil deeds while pretending to be good... How can you even sleep at night?!? Anyway, notes duly taken regarding usefulness of disintegrate. Edit: Atrocious spelling.
  12. Got it about a week ago. Fiddled around a long while with character creation and a few trial runs in the barrow. Now playing "for real", currently in Act II
  13. Yeah, in the face of such adversity, the game should really have been M rated. Mature audiences only I just started on Act II and I am having a blast so far. Playing a Spirit Shaman/Storm Lord I dissed Gann and kept Okku in my party. While not having the sheer size of BG2, it still boasts those lots of little detail that makes it a good experience so far. At the moment, I have decided to put the curse on the "back burner" so to speak, as I would like to play the game first without having to look over my shoulder for my innate octopus. That shouldn't be a problem though, as I suspect a lot replays in this one. Once I feel comfortable with the curse, I will probably play as a soul devouring anti-good something. I do suspect a bit of familiarity with the game is necessary before trying that path though. Btw. is there a point in fighting the content of door no. 3 in shadow Mulsantir? I got my butt handed to me repeatedly and decided that no reward was worth the number of reloads.
  14. So, it might be worth the wait and get a computer in second half of 2008 instead of first half? Yeah, I know, there is always something new coming up soon, but I consider motherboards (and sockets) to be the backbone of a new system.
  15. Let me get this right, you got an oversized PSU, therefore you needed to expand the casing, therefore you need a better computer desk? I am following this thread with much interest, since I am looking for a new computer after New Year, at a time where my economy will (hopefully) have recovered enough not to have to compromise too much on the price/quality scale. March is probably the starting shot for my shopping spree.
  16. Actually, it always did.
  17. Yesterday was one of those days best torn out of the calendar and just forgotten. It started bad enough, receiveing the resignation of a consultant. Tough luck, those guys don't hang on trees. Then I got the farewell email from a developer that I had to give the boot, as he was just not good enough. Yay, thats a part of my job that makes me feel melancholy. To top it off, I killed one or more little ducklings driving home. Mama duck and her retinue had decided to cross the highway in the early evening, during one of the rare south australian rainy days... the last thing I saw in my rear view mirror was mama duck and surviving siblings looking at flattened duckling(s) with something I could have sworn was a baffled look on their faces... way to go Gorth
  18. The same way that Microsoft is the largest publisher of PC operating systems? I don't know about Ubisoft, but the IL-2 Sturmovik flight sim series has been on my wishlist for a long time. As for the actual topic, lets just say that there is a lot of room for speculation and very little facts.
  19. I don't know if UKOZ mail is comparable, but that is anywhere between 2 to 6 weeks...
  20. Nice Now we are going to have those images imprinted in our minds, associating them with the names when they post here...
  21. You mean, being able to flee faster is going to improve his ego?
  22. Found this in sticky FAQ thread: Q. I am stuck in the Onderon Palace. I cannot disable the second terminal A. This is caused by telling the Captain at this station that you will disable the other station while you already have disabled the other station. To fix this you NEED to load a save from before talking to the Captain at that station. Sorry, not much help. Maybe some of the modders/hackers out there might have some input as to whether or not console commands/KSE can be used to help.
  23. I can't really say that I like the numbers... but it is better than no feedback. Technology allowing, a nice thing for future game would be to add a visual feedback when appropriate. I.e. facial expressions (grimacing, scowling, smiling, winking etc.), body language (a slight swagger, shking fists at you, outride rude gestures, constantly looking at you, smiling etc.). Devious npcs might of course chose to "cloak" their attitude towards you and spring some nasty/pleasant surprises on you.
  24. How did you arrive at that conclusion? (sounds more like an issue with the dialogue script, not the text string database) Can't say I have run into it previously, so I hope somebody else can help you out. It does have its share of weird issues.
  25. You can sell him to whatshisname the junk dealer. I hope you got a good price for the little beeper
