What you did today
Took a walk into the city, enjoying the spring weather. Slightly cool, but pleasant. Went into Dymock's (a bookstore) and grabbed a handful of Black Library books: "Gaunts Ghosts - Only in Death" (I think I'll start with that one) "Gotrek and Felix - Elfslayer" (oh, how I love that title!) "Palace of the Plague Lord" (no idea if it's good or bad, but I've liked C.L. Werners work so far) and a big heavy hardback art book, "The Horus Heresy - Collected Visions" On my way back, I made the mistake of stopping by E.B. Games. Grabbed "The Witcher EE", "S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky" and "Painkiller - Overdose". Now i need to flip a three-sided coin to make up my mind what to play first

*The* DRM thread
Thread pruned a bit. Lets keep this one on topic, as the subject does merit a "safe" place for earnest discussion.

Members of the forum who are no more
I miss Eldar (brutally mudered and hidden in Cantousents basement) and Phosphor (wasted away and succumbed to the WoW disease. Nasty case of MMO).

Do you think the Middle-East should be nuked?
...and I find it rather tasteless wanting to kill a bunch of people you don't know, based on ethnicity or just the misfortune of being born in a troubled geographic region...

*The* DRM thread
I know the feeling. Bought Heavy Metal FAKK2 a number of years ago. Never could make it run off the disc. Guess which "shady" step was the only one that could make the game run like advertised? Took me a year to figure... No, I am not a friend of DRM, not even the old cd check ones.
- EA does it again!

*The* DRM thread
Coming to the conclusion that the increasing number of threads regarding the subject is getting a pain to a number of people, there is a slight change of plans. For the time being, this will be the thread to discuss DRM in any way related to gaming, sentiments for, against, degrees of obnoxiousness, alternative suggestions etc. For the time being other threads will be closed and pointed to this one. Trolling, baiting, provocative circumvention of this, hijacking other threads etc. will be met with a visit by the M.I.B.

Economic meltdown!
But damn, she makes Dan Quayle sound gifted by comparison

What you did today
I am probably horribly unqualified to give advice on the subject, which makes it sound fairly cheap when I say "chin up!". No matter how bleak it looks, it won't last. I know the feeling of having to dodge the guy with the eviction notice because you haven't paid rent, but eventually when things swing the other (your) way, it will just be a memory, even if a painful one But not knowing what living and market conditions is like in your area, I am afraid that truly useful suggestions are in short supply. I hope some of our fellow forumites may have more valuable input than me.

Election
(In a deep voice): "I have a dream..." I seem to remember that we had a philosophy thread four years ago, and then one about a few years ago. It's surprising what people can disagree on

Walmart is shutting down its online-activation servers for DRM protected songs
Way off-topic actually So is downloadable vs. cd music and whether Walmart is a good company to do business with, urban and rural areas alike
