  1. One of my all time favourite movies Together with The Fifth Element one of those movies I can re-watch like once a year (same thing with Galaxy Quest come to think of it, even if not made by Luc Besson)
  2. I'm probably "gimping" myself a bit in my current Lich game, because... not sure. My head cannon just decided my character is a powerful necromancer (eventually, give it a few more levels), commanding hordes of under minions and holding sway over the already dead. Unlike my Trickster/Legendary game, where Nenio and Ember both had beefed up Evocation/Conjuration and Enchantment/Illusion capabilities to overcome magic resistances. Necromantic spells feels a bit more subtle in nature. Several of them works best against undead/dead opponents by the look of it. It has some direct damage and some control ability, but nowhere near the aforementioned duo did in my first play through. Also trying to add a bit of abjuration to the mix, because I feel a vulnerable without a tonne of armour and 500hp whatever silly amount my Legendary Barbarian ended up with.
  3. It was easier back in the 80's in Denmark. The draft was a thing, and whether or not you joined the military was a lottery thing (quite literally, you drew a rolled up piece of paper from a barrel). High numbers went free, mid range numbers went to the civil defense (I did) and low numbers end up in the military. I guess The US is not too keen on reintroducing the draft after Vietnam? Edit: I could have excused my self from it, as I had bad enough vision, that I could get exempt on medical grounds, but I was never really one to shirk what I felt was everybody's responsibility and so participated in the lottery.
  4. It's apparently not only Scotland who wants to get rid of the UK... https://www.bbc.com/sport/cricket/66082593 The Orkney Islands could change their status in the UK or even become a self-governing territory of Norway under new proposals. A motion will go before the council next week to investigate "alternative forms of governance". Council leader James Stockan said Orkney does not get fair funding with its current relationship within the UK. He wants to look at Crown Dependencies like the Channel Islands and overseas territories like the Falkland Islands. I wonder if they asked Norway first, or just assumed they would be welcomed home?
  5. I know I've posted an Isle of Man TT video before, but this year, Peter Hickman broke the lap record on his BMW. 136mph/218kmh (that's average speed, not top speed, which gets close to 210mph/330kmh) (not recommended if prone to motion sickness)
  6. She does have a certain charm I doubt I'll do the same in my current Lich play through. I'll refrain from various bad "boner" jokes, even if my characters avatar is looking less and less lively (I'll probably end up looking like a skeleton)
  7. Your strength of will is commendable… no way I could turn down a gift from such a hot girl
  8. I haven't seen the audiences feedback (comments were turned off on the tiktok, not sure if the other links had comments), so I don't know what the responses were. My own response is probably not very flattering... for I do find her entitled in some ways (and she's forgetting gen x like everybody else, the only things that exists are the dreaded baby boomers and me). I know when I was a young teen, I was constantly bombarded with the "make sure you pick a marketable skill to study" message from multiple sides (my parents, friends, the governments public service announcements, you name it), because if I picked a university degree in advanced clay pottery sculpting, I would only have myself to blame for a lack of job opportunities afterwards. I do agree with her, that older people are forgetting the impact of inflation and the housing prices are through the roof (pun unintended), to the point where most "normal" people will be either without a home to call their own or it will be something their parents would have scoffed at as unsuitable for human occupancy. Negative gearing strikes back!
  9. I would love an independent take on this as I wouldn't trust Sky to give a fair and objective version of anything race or gender related any more than I would Fox. Sadly both The Independent and the BBC has no sources other than Sky. Not saying what is claimed to have happened isn't true, but with their obvious far right bias, I wouldn't trust them to give you the full story.
  10. Maybe this should've been in the funny thread, but despite all it's humour and memes, I must say as a Gen-X, I can relate wholeheartedly to this
  11. What happened to Putins open window policy?
  12. Black Library books are a bit like the old Dragonlance books, D&D books, Forgotten Realms books, you name it. Some are good, some are bad, some are getting close to great reads and some... you grind through because of sheer dogged determination to not give up something you started. Even though it would’ve been the sensible thing to do
  13. For me, it's a toss up between 'First & Only' or 'Necropolis' (book 1 & 3). Milo still features in books succeeding the ghosts. That is, various books covering The Sabbath Crusade, including my current reading material, The Magister and The Martyr. Anakwar Sek Whose Voice Drowns All Others! is an interesting villain, which you get to see way to little of until the very end). Edit: really just in a few cameo roles Edit2: As for what my favourite recent 40k books are, that is actually a wh30k novel, "The Buried Dagger" and a... not a crime drama, but one not featuring space marines "The Wraithbone Phoenix". The latter is about a ratling and his ogryn friend, who're eking out a living in a scrapyard, where old decommissioned starships gets salvaged. All the while pulling off cons and scams to make extra credits (they're fugitive deserters from the Imperial Guard and have a bounty on their heads). The ogryn is one of those subjected to cognitive enhancement surgery and is both surprisingly smart and philosophical. Sometimes that is.
  14. She actually got her own series. Two volumes, Pariah and Penitent. Lots of intrigue and mystery and a possible reconciliation between Gregor and Gideon? (Ravenor). It's been so many years since I read the Eisenhorn trilogy, that I've forgotten much of the details. Must have been very early 2000's...
  15. The Waaagh! is on.... there can be only one Warboss
  16. Those Wagner soldiers are true mercenaries... https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-66023631 "The bald waste of space destroyed Wagner PMC with his own hands. And screwed everyone he could," fumed one online poster claiming to be a Wagner fighter on a Telegram channel with 200,000 followers. ... Mark Krutov, a journalist with the RFE/RL outlet's Russian Service, has access to the Telegram group chats used by relatives of Wagner fighters. He shared some of their messages with the BBC. "They were simply betrayed," one women wrote. "I trusted Prigozhin, but what he did is dishonourable." "He shouldn't have done this. This is pure betrayal," agreed another user. Edit: Just to clarify, people are upset that he betrayed Wagner, not Russia
  17. Just got a letter from Immigration an hour ago... getting invited to the interview part of the citizenship process next month. I better make sure I have any old Danish documents translated by the officially approved translators
  18. According to the BBC, Wagner is relocating their forces to Belarus. Didn't specify where in Belarus (like just north of Kiev or close to the Russian border in the east or whatever) Summary The head of the Wagner mercenary rebels is to leave for Belarus after calling off his troops' advance on Moscow
  19. I have two FF games on my drives, that I bought on some ridiculously cheap steam sales (less than $10 iirc). But I never played either of them. I think the FF8 demo was such a traumatic experience I never felt like touching the franchise again, despite the blurb and screenshots looking interesting for the two I purchased (in the naive hope I might get into it some day). That was before I picked of Guild Wars 2, so there is some stiff competition for my game time. Edit: Checking my steam account, the ones I bought were FFXV and FFX/X-2
  20. Never underestimate the trouble that could arise from replacing an incompetent overall army command with an at least semi-competent one.
  21. Wasn’t the Wagner boss the one who kept whinging about the Russian army never sending any ammunition his way?
  22. I suspect you’re looking for Obsidian the product www.obsidian.md and not Obsidian the game developer
