Not crazy about multi classing - it did quite a lot of damage to d&d. The kits or prestige classes are a good solution. I hope Obs put a lot of thought into this and don't wreck the game. At the moment the classes are actually in a good spot - I really hope that whatever changes they make, they don't mess it up.

I think Eothas has some deep seated emotional problems. He keeps asking for people to kill him. Well all the gods have to have some serious issues. They should all be seriously schizo for one. You can't take thousands of souls, and presumably personalities and merge them into one and expect everything to be hunky dory. I mean, look at Aloth and he "only" shares his body with one other person not a couple of thousand.

dual wield pistols
rheingold replied to Gromnir's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Dual wielding pistols would be nice - if it's done properly, they need to address the reloading animation first though, I suspect it will be difficult to do properly. Speaking for myself, if the animation is clunky and looks rather silly I will probably end up skipping it though. -
It would It would be a really tacky solution, starting at level one. Which is why I wanted a new character starting at level one. The problem is while Obs make fantastic games they also make some really silly design decisions which paint them into a corner. I'd say dropping the watcher to level one would be on par with choosing to have a mid game expansion like White March. You end up complicating things needlessly and end up having to compromise on issues like story and balance. It would have been so much better if WM had been an end game expansion from every point. It's the same with Deadfire, either a new character at level 1 which would be simplest or a mid to high level watcher (more complicated). But it's their decision and if they choose to make life more difficult for themselves, well it's their choice. Though a high level campaign doesn't have to be bad, it can be done properly - like Mask, but it is tough, specially to think of some justification of why common bandits are a higher level than an archmage. Still it's no more hackneyed than dropping a 16th level watcher down to 1st level. BTW I think a compromise might be in order - I'd say 8-10th level would be a good place to start, much like Shadows of Amm.

Got to be high level, like Motb, makes no sense otherwise. If they where going to do a low level game then it should be with a new character. Once they decided on the watcher it really has to be high level, which they can do fairly easily, they just have to rework the current system for balance. Actually shouldn't be to difficult considering in the first game they had to create a new system from scratch. I'm more worried about the multi classing option to be honest. That seems to me to be a complete overhaul. I'm not against multi classing but I like the classes as is and I'd prefer any changes to be small, not reinventing the wheel.

Not sure I want all the companions back - even the ones I liked. Sagani, even though I liked her a lot should be home with her family. It would be tough to justify her appearing in the story. Grieving mother was also rather heavily tied into the story, so much so that her story ended with the first game. Durance also got wacked with a major body blow, pretty sure unless this story comes with a slice of revenge against Magran he'd probably pass. Kana also seemed more like to head home and lecture everyone on his findings. Hiravious is a wanderer so who knows. The most likely, and the easiest to justify with what little we know about the setting/story seems to be: Aloth, Eder, Pellagina and oddly enough Maneha looks like a good fit. Other than that I'd be happy to have new companions, though it would be nice if there is some reference to the others.

Looks like a ranger to me:) At least If I were basing a character on the image, I'd probably use Boeroers riptide build, and just open with a couple of shots with an arquebus. There was also a gun build ranger floating around - used powder burns. I played a ranger using a blunderbuss and it was loads of fun. Hardly a powerbuild but still pretty impressive with swift aim, gunner and a chanter you fire pretty fast. But I ignored powder burns for swift aim.

So does this mean that putting a couple of points into dex is a good thing ? Don't claim to understand the maths, but suddenly it seems a good idea to put, say 2 or 4 points into dex (12/14) rather than maxing it.You would get some benefit out of it and the rest could go into might.

Hopefully it won't be a high level campaign, in fact it would be great if the pc was a level 1 noob. Some of the previous companions like Eder and Aloth would be in the game, but it would make a nice change if they were powerhouses and above the the pc's paygrade. They could be some of the more established npcs in the game. Could supply quests or just be in he background. I would really prefer if the watchers story ended...

For me, the character as a whole has to work for the whole game. All those neverwinter power builds which would be completey useless until level 30 where the ONE ability which would make them into a God came, really irritated me Same for pillars, the character has to be viable from start to finish regardless of equipment. Of course, I don't mind if a particular piece of equipment improves it, but it's gotta come relatively early, say before level 8 otherwise it's pretty useless as a substantial amount of the game has passed. That's why I like equipment like tall grass, hours etc...

Well Eder, Aloth and a lesser extent grieving mother tie into the story really well. And they are great companions, so I am really looking forward to pillars especially as the devs are hinting (not very subtlety) that Eder and Aloth will have something to do with the sequel. Who knows, maybe their va has been recruited again, in fact it is likely. Not sure how far you are, but the character aldhelm has just about the best voice acting I've heard in a game. He is superb. No idea who he is though.

BROKEN savegames!
rheingold replied to IamNOOB's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Gog can be.... painful. Not sure if you are using Gog galaxy? I had loads of problems when I didn't use it for auto updating. Since then, it's been pretty good though.
