  1. Overall it's probably smarter to do several smaller ones than just one big one, because that has the danger that people won't like it and then that's all there is. Given how extremely... let's say FICKLE "rpg fans" are, there is a good chance even this bunch will like at least one of the 3 (and of course everyone will like a different one out of the 3).
  2. And yet it is constantly compared. The last 10 articles I read on gaming sites about Pillars 2, had Divinity mentioned in it. Which is also the only reason why I brought it up. I'm not here often enough/read enough to know what people usually do here. Real reviewers? Reviewers shape opinions whether you consider them real or not. Trust me on this.
  3. I don't think they even had a choice here. After Divinity 2 (I haven't played it) had full VO, Pillars 2 had to have full VO too. It's very obvious to me, that if they wouldn't have done full VO, every single reviewer out there would have said right away, that Pillars 2 doesn't even have full VO like Divinity 2 already had last year (or whenever this game came out). Pillars 2 is a huge deal for Obsidian, so they can't afford to have it fail, having lots of people say at launch that this game feels "cheap" certainly would have hurt their sales.
  4. I'm sincerely hoping they aren't going to "waste" their time left to do another beta. I hope they invest all the time they can into actual dev work towards a solid release version. The beta is for testing purposes AFAIK, don't think it's supposed to be enjoyed like the final product (hopefully will be).
  5. Was pathfinding so bad? I don't remember that.
  6. If they switch the character, the game should have a new name too. Having a Pillars 3 with a new character would be weird too me. I'm all up for another story or whatever, but the title/name should reflect that.
  7. I had Aloth keep Iselmyr, just so all their work in Pilars 2 won't be in vain. :D Since they mentioned it so often, I expect major voice work.
  8. All I'm saying is, you can read information much faster, than a good voice actor, who pronounces everything correctly etc., can say it. So you are automatically in the situation to cut down text or have an audio book for a game. This is about so much more than just money for VO. No one wants to listen to 10 minutes of VO every few steps. btw: JS just answered a question about VO https://jesawyer.tumblr.com/post/171942616176/how-much-vo-should-we-expect-in-deadfire
  9. Wasn't "full VO" what killed this type of game in the first place? The reason stories and dialogs became more and more shallow in games, was that you can't have such a massive text dump in spoken form. It would be like an audio book. :D I absolutely prefer it if most of the stuff is just text and only certain important parts are VO.
  10. I disagree with the rating of every single character. :D
  11. So what? The Hylea ending specifically states that the souls return to the bodies of the hollowborn they were intended for. So even if she already delivered the baby, then it's no longer hollowborn now.
  12. I'm so happy about this. I mean it wasn't a dealbreaker or anything this severe, but I never liked this. Always great to find out more people disliked the same thing.
  13. Back in Gilded Vale, it's possible to meet Calisca's sister who's pregnant. Of course you can only tell her, that her sister, she's been waiting for, is dead - even the medicine you can get her won't help. It's just a placebo. I liked Calisca, she seemed to be a cool person, in the short duration the Watcher knew her. So this is what sold Hylea's option to me. By making this choice, Calisca's sister would have a regular kid. And that made me feel good about everything. I mean she's probably going to think that this worthless placebo did the trick after all, but hey - you can't have everything.
  14. I would obviously play it if they gave me the beta, but I don't expect this to happen. Overall I hope they just focus on the game and forget the rest. It must be hell to bugfix a gigantic game like this. I hope for the best. :D
  15. Wow, Steam still says April, while GOG is on May since before all the news sites published it.
  16. Well the stores like GOG already show May as the new date, so... https://www.gog.com/game/pillars_of_eternity_ii_deadfire https://i.imgur.com/F3laoR6.jpg
  17. How did you loose your saves? Big platforms like Steam or GOG all have cloud saves and restore your saves even if you delete them on your local drive.
  18. Turtles also have movies and what not. The last one is from 2016. :D http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3949660/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_5
  19. I really liked Durance's arc, if he learns and accepts what truly happened. I know it's not realistic, but I've not given up hope that he might show up somewhere in Pillars 2. His ending allows for him to wander, so... A small cameo could be nice.
  20. Yeah, if the turtles cartoon was Japanese, it would have been drawn so much better.
  21. As soon as I start playing, there will be zero time for anything else. I would only visit the forums if some sort of problem arose or if a patch came out and I wanted to check out stuff like the release notes.
  22. I watched videos of the backer beta and in them soulbound weapons work the same way they did in Pillars 1. Who knows if the reason for that is that some stuff wasn't implemented yet.
  23. If you still have the saves, then yes. It's the same game and it doesn't write different saves depending on which store sold it.
  24. I don't think that's possible, since that's the backer beta and you bought it on Steam instead of backing it. Also, do you really wanna drop another 20 for a beta that is only going to be eligible for another 3 weeks? That's such a short time span. The actual game comes out "soon".
  25. I remember a quest from Witcher 1, in which Geralt has to run an investigation into several sketchy characters. The interesting thing here and the reason why this stuck in my mind, is that you can completely bungle this investigation and yet the game will go on. The quest will always complete, but will have different outcomes. And even better yet, it will also affect the relationships with all the characters Geralt investigated. They will be more friendly or more hostile as a result. If Geralt plays his cards right (no gwent pun intended), he can even get a signet ring from the guard captain, which will also help with other stuff. So everything you do during this quest has an effect on the quest but also the game/world beyond that quest. It pays off to actually try and it's all very reactive. I was really impressed when I played the game again, with how different it all can be. I'm sure there are countless other great examples, but this is one of the quests I'll never forget.
