I am mostly excited about new Xcom. Hope to see lots of trailers and gameplay for it.

I also didn't get to hear from her at all except when you first meet him and when you do his quest and find out about her. The other companions also seems to tease him about her and that is it. As a result I find Aloth one of the more boring characters. The split personality thing could have been lots of fun if used better and more.

Annoyed by the end of Act 2
archangel979 replied to Scimon's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
I didn't enjoy end of Act 2. I was hoping Obsidian learned something from NWN2 and they would make a better game this time around but it seems that both the trial and Stronghold are worse than NWN2. If not for the superior engine, NWN2 would overall be a better game than PoE. -
A) Neverwinter has about as much to do with 4E as...well, I was going to say Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance has to do with 3.X, but BG:DA's rules implementation is several orders of magnitudes closer to 3.X than Neverwinter's is to 4E. Neverwinter is basically an action-MMO with a Forgotten Realms veneer.B) Sword Coast Legends is "using" 5E. From what we've seen so far, it looks like it's probably about as close to the actual rules of 5E as BG:DA is to 3.X. I figured they were going to base the game on the 5E, which I know nothing about. I was actually looking up some of the actual 4E stuff and most of the annoyances from Neverwinter were not present in the basic rules. Looking at the character building, 4E looks just as good as any other recent version. I think I have to mention that I've never actually played PnP D&D, I've only read through the manuals for 3.5. Anyway, I'm not too worried about the rule implementation. They will either make the system fun or dull, the faithful implementation is not really important.it is pretty important because dnd has a specific game play style that attracts its players. If you ignore it it is no longer a dnd game and using that brand is pointless unless you enjoy paying royalties to Hasbro. And dnd 5e has been praised and welcomed back by both new and old players, if they make a generic rpg with dnd name they lose 5e hype.

I was very happy at first about this game coming out first because I wanted to use it to turn a good D&D adventure I have into a good computer D&D adventure. But as this game will now be crappy action game I am not sure I want to spend months doing that. Worse thing is that you have to get a deluxe edition to get additional tilesets which is all I would care about when creating a custom campaign. It seems they want to charge more to people that would be creating free content that would in turn get them more sales LOL. Is there another newer game with a fairly large user base with a fantasy toolset I can use? (don't mention NWN 1 and 2 and Shadowrun ). Is D:OS toolset any good?

I got a better question: Why are any spells encounter? It just made me use those each fight and barely any others and resulted in game having very little resource management except for health. And the worst part is that on Hard I was able to get away with such playing in 99% of encounters

This is good news for me. I played WL2 after first few patches and then they started talking about the rebalance patch. I put my game on hold to wait for that but the rebalance patch was delayed again and again. Now I can wait until GotY edition is out and experience most of the game in its improved version. Just like I only played Witcher 1 in its EE version.

1.05 Patch is Live
archangel979 replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
It is called Unity 4.5 -
No, it was Obsidian. I have a NPC in the game and what I wrote didn't make the game. Obsidian wrote all of it. And other people have come forward on this forum and confirmed the same. That makes it worse as those time could have been spent making NPCs like in BG1 that have short funny conversations with you.

Sawyer on vacation?
archangel979 replied to MotelOK's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
*Backhand slap* Don't even joke about something like that! *Grabs archangel's lapels and pulls him face to face* I came here to escape them and their BSN! I won't go back I tells ya, and I won't let them turn this into another BSN! I'll blow us all up I will! I swear it! Who is joking? This game seriously lacks some flag planting and big horned companions of undecided sexual preferences. -
Sawyer on vacation?
archangel979 replied to MotelOK's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
A permanent one. The game didn't achieve a 95 metacritic score so they needed to find someone else. I heard someone from Bioware might be coming.- 167 replies

Depends on the definition of what a god is. The characteristics of the PoE gods are similar to pantheons found in Earth cultures. Limited in power, limited in knowledge and wisdom, able to be killed, etc. Right, the difference is the "gods" in PoE are *direct* human constructs. They're tools made by mortal hands to carry out a specific job. In classical mythology the "gods" were natural aspects of the universe who had form, sentience, and will. All religions that feature a god that I know of in the real world are pretty explicit in that those gods are either natural aspects of the world or the creators of the world, or both. Not something created by normal mortal beings to do their will. One can argue that a Christian God is a human construct as well. Only difference is that Eora Gods are proven to exist while our Gods are just based on faith.

I would also love some news for 1.05. Any news, eta, what can we expect... I don't want to start my second play before it comes out.
