  1. That's the only part of Troika going down I care about. Oh well... Check again.
  2. KotOR III is old news. It's time to begin thinking about KotOR IV.
  3. I thought Bio had stated they were done with license projects.
  4. Where fanaticism and bigotry meet inter-breeding.
  5. Yeah, Babylon 5 is a great show. I'm hooked to Enterprise, too. Best ST show IMO.
  6. Yeah, TV ads have those things, too. Are TV ads an art too? LMFAO...
  7. Heh. Yet another baseless retort accompanied by (un)witty banter. Pathetic. You're really lowering your standards. No, in fact that's one of the things I've been saying in the last posts. Perhaps you should actually read? You are discussing the gameplay and that is not what's being discussed here. Gameplay and story presentation are different subjects. Obviously the gameplay in FPSs is different from that in RPGs, but then again, that has nothing to do with the storytelling. Sorry you failed to grasp it, and made your own version of the discussion. Game, set and match. I have posted no opinions so far. Are you so obtuse that can't distinguish between opinion and fact?. And now I'm discussing different things? Well, let's see what the discussion was about in the beginning: There is a glarring difference between the story progression of a first person shooter and the story progression of a roleplaying game. He's trying to compare a genre, that is by DEFAULT, simple and straight forward, with a genre that is largely populated with more complex game elements, from character creation, to interaction, to story progression. Any idiot can make a "point" by grabbing one extreme and comparing it to another. If you're going to handicap your arguement with some asinine comparison, at least keep it remotely similar in game genre. Diablo would have been a better choice than HALO, since at least Diablo, by a small minority, is considered a "RPG". Well, it appears it's YOU who keeps changing the 'subject' of the discussion whenever it suits you. No, you can't, unless it's a stealth oriented FPS. Quit making stuff up, you're not good enough at it. Really, you're making this all too easy.
  8. I'm guessing that if you really need to go to the dictionary to look it up, it's you the stupid here, not me. But let's get on with it.
  9. No. I'm hell bent on disagreeing with every wrong thing you say. But don't get too happy, it's nothing personal. I do it with everyone. For starters I wouldn't pick a game blindly over its 'genre'. That would be pretty dumb. But then again, no amount of examples of past bad story FPSs and excellent story RPGs is going to prove that FPSs have to have a worse/more shallow plot than RPGs, because both elements aren't connected. Aliens Vs Predator 2 had an excellent story, both in pacing and writing. The way the story was made complete by playing the 3 different races was just awesome. There you have your 'pure' FPS example. Game, set and match. So says the guy who claims others to be part of his 'fanclub' just for disagreeing. That was almost funny. A pity you lack the brainpower to make actually fun jokes. Keep trying, though. Sometimes sheer effort can make up for the lack of talent. Did you actually read what I wrote earlier? I said RPGs are about choice AND role playing. The catch here is that, in RPGs you are actually given a choice on HOW to roleplay. Next.
  10. Yeah, such as in Ps:T and KotOR in which you play a predefined character, eh? Again, the only difference between FPS and RPG plots is that in some RPGs you can actually affect the outcome of the story. Nothing more. The same can be applied to your statements about RPGs being equal to story and FPSs being equal to combat. You lose. What about mixed genres? A 'genre' is just a commercial label to appeal certain groups of gamers looking for certain characteristics in a game. Another wasted argument. Next. Proof, please.
  11. No. True RPGs are about choice and guess what: role playing, not story. Not anymore than FPSs, anyway. The story is just the setting upon which the game mechanics are applied, and is not defined by the those or the POV. If so far most FPS games have a simple story is just because their devs didn't put enough emphasis on that aspect of the game. Not because FPSs can't have a deep, complex plot. And I believe that oversimplifying an argument is not a good way to make a point.
  12. By default, perhaps. That doesn't exclude certain instances in which that isn't true. When I agree with you, you lash out at me. When I disagree with you, you lash at me, too. Not that I really care what a sad little troll like you thinks, but I still find your lack of coherence somewhat amusing. Keep going, at the present rate, soon you will reach the point in which each new sentence will contradict the previous one. And, um... what gave you the impression that somebody actually cares about you enough to be your 'fan'? Other than Hades that is. Irrelevant. Gameplay mechanics have nothing to do with how a story is presented. You keep associating both concepts, when they aren't really connected. VtM - BL is a FPS with RPG mechanics, and the story is presented in a masterful way. Others have given you other examples. So far you are unable to prove that FPS = simple plot. You just can't prove it because it isn't necessarily true. No amount of examples is enough to establish a rule. Bottom line is, you are just too immature to accept that you are wrong. Despite overwhelming proof or flawless reasoning, you will just keep charging ahead, repeating the same lines over and over. Grow up.
  13. what are you talking about? Games are announced months, even years before they are on the shelves. I mean, we all know kotor exsists and is 100% official - yet it's not out here until Feb 9th Have you heard about game cancellation?
  14. No. You are running out of arguments and hence you are starting to make baseless claims. Time to concede.
  15. No, I don't need proof. Just like you don't need proof to state that the game will be crap. Both of us know that you will get it, and that's enough for me.
  16. Usually famous people can afford better lawyers, too. That might have something to do with it.
  17. Well, that remains to be seen. I for one am glad that somebody got FO3 started. To be honest, I don't think Beth will put out a game that is true (as in a carbon copy) to what Fallout is, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they won't be able to make a good game. And that isn't a very common thing these days.
  18. If only I'd realized that before I wasted my time and money. :'(
  19. It's an anime beat-'em-up of sorts. It has some gun combat, too, but the game mechanics are geared towards hand to hand fighting. Not one of the worst I've ever played.
  20. No, it's not going to cause anyone's eyes to bleed. But for starters it may cause interesting threads to be pushed back to the second page. The search function is there for a reason, you know. Having lots of repeated threads is good for nothing. If gone unchecked it might even affect the overall forum performance. Use your brains next time. So, yes. Search before you ask.
  21. PES3/4, Tekken. I don't play online much anymore. Used to be a Jedi Knight/Jedi Academy pr0 lamer/scripter/overall d*ck, though. I would have liked to try Freelancer online, and from what I hear it's good, however rentals aren't that great for MP gaming...
  22. That is true. But you forgot to mention that that works both ways.
