  1. It's nice to read some positive feedback, for a change. While it might be exaggerated at some points it's still better than your usual 'OmG oMg OmG KoTOR2 R0x0Rz j00 Box0rZ!!!!11'
  2. The questions are too simplified for the test to yield an accurate result. From what I've seen you would have to be authoritarian by nazi standards to be portrayed as 'righty' by the test. Feh.
  3. The funny thing about that is that Bloodlines wasn't rushed. It was finished about a month before release date. It couldn't be released though due to the agreement Valve had with VU that prevented anything using the Source engine to be released before HL2 hit the shelves. Somebody would think that they could have used that extra month to polish the game... but no. As I said, funny. <_<
  4. Yeah. Ultimately it's the greedy shareholders fault for wanting their money NOW. Call it what you will, I don't care. It's not the bugs themselves that bother me, it's the fact that, for whatever reasons, somebody didn't do their job.
  5. Which is 100% true. Shrapnel and low caliber ammunitions are the two top hazards the soldiers are exposed to. Incidentally, that's what ballistic body armor is designed to protect from. Sorry, every time your arguments are defeated you cling to minor, technical or outright irrelevant details such as 'the variety of colors of the vests would offset the fact that they are bought in bulk'. You have proven to be one of the many people on these boards who are totally impervious to reason, logic and facts. Congratulations. I am done with this thread.
  6. That would be funny if it weren't people we're talking about. I guess you would just go to war in sweatpants and a t-shirt because armor vests are only good for providing a false sense of security.
  7. No. That example isn't applicable to body armor because your reasoning is based on that the different configurations of humvees (due to different functions) raise the price. I don't know about that but I'm willing to accept it. However, there are no different armor configurations because those things only do one thing - protect against fire. Basic logic, you lose. I don't need to put words into your mouth. You said it yourself: So, when proven wrong by evidence, you just deny what you said earlier, eh? What will be next, deleting your own old posts?
  8. I don't know. However, I have seen some slow-mo videos and pics of fruits being shot with pistols, and every time the fruit is blown to dust/tiny pieces, literally. I guess getting shot in the liver is bad news. Much worse than getting shot in a knee or the hip, vest or not.
  9. Well, lately it seems they barely have time to do the beta testing so... no. <_<
  10. What kind of game is that?

  12. Depends on the armor. There are quite a few links about body armor in this thread, I suggest you read them. 100% true. Rifle rounds are usually much faster than handgun rounds due to the greater length of rifle barrels compared to shorter guns. Penetrating power doesn't entirely rely on the round's speed, though. Anyway, the body doesn't need to absorb all of the bullet's kinetic energy since when hit without body armor, the bullet will usually not stay in the body. With the larger calibers though, getting hit by one of those ensures there won't be much left of you to be recognized, due to the massive kinetic impact, as you pointed out. That's not what body armor is designed to protect against however, since larger calibers are used mostly against vehicles. And it's not like the militias in Iraq have plenty of .50 Barretts to play with. No. Penetration ammunition will not fragment upon impact. It's designed to resist the impact and be strong enough to go through whatever protection layers it's designed to defeat. Consider that when a bullet is fragmented, the individual fragments will have a much lesser chance of penetrating due to less kinetic energy, oblique trajectory, and irregular shapes. In that respect, penetration rounds are less 'damaging' than hollow point ammo.
  13. Can you provide figures about how much each Humvee costs to the Army? I didn't think so. However, and if indeed they are more expensive in comparison to the civilian versions, perhaps it has something to do with the military equipment they bring, namely light/heavy armor, TOW launchers, whatever? Either way, it doesn't really matter. Purchasing in bulk is cheaper, and your reasoning and example don't apply to body armor because that kind of equipment has only one possible function. That is, preventing you from getting a lethal overdose of lead. It's not like they are going to use armor plates as frying pans, you know. As I said, until you can prove that the Army gets the same prices for their equipment as you would, I'll go with what I do know. That is, buying in great numbers decreases the costs. First you claim that body armor is next to worthless. Then you state it would cost too much to equip every soldier with it. That's arguing that it's not cost-effective, even if you don't say that explicitly. Again, leave politics out of this. I'm just discussing facts here. You are trying to turn this into an argument about how the democrats f*cked up the military budgets. I don't know nor do I care about that. You want to whine about it? Don't let me stop you. However it is rather cruel to have soldiers dying just to make a freaking point.
  14. So much for 'Designer Ramblings'.

  16. I agree. I don't know about Zelda because I've never played it. However Starcraft going TB doesn't make much sense because it's a RTS (as in Real Time). It's as if you propose they did Half-Life 3 turn based. However Fallout is a CRPG and there are examples of CRPGs with a RT based combat. So as long as they manage to make combat fun an balanced, anything goes for me.
  17. Well, it's not only that there were lots of combat. The fact that there were like 4 sidequests in the last part of the game doesn't help much either. I like a bit more of role-playing in my CRPG.
  18. hmmm So you roleplay your character per his "leadership", but you don't roleplay them per the force powers of light/dark? Interesting... You beat me to it.
  19. Whatever floats your boat.
  20. Yeah, that's nice and all. But there are two important facts about that you are ignoring. Purposefully or not, I can't say. 1) That's not the body armor issued to US soldiers. The standard-issue armor is called 'Interceptor OTV', you can find details about it in the link I provided, if you actually bothered to check. 2) The prices listed there are for sale to the open public, and NOT the price at which they would be sold to the US Army in case they were a Defense contractor. And you accuse me of bad reading comprehension? Oh well, it can't hurt to clear it up, again. Obviously it won't save everyone. Nothing will. However that's not reason enough not to provide adequate protection for the troops. Yep. Standard armor issued to police officers. I have already proven above that military grade armor can and will protect against rifle fire, including 7.62 mm rounds. Politics have nothing to do with you claiming that it's not cost-effective to adequately equip US troops.
  21. You weren't allowed to do anything but fight through the whole den. That is not the approach my Ventrue would have taken. In a PnP session you would have had more options (bring down the building, lure in a team of vampire hunters, deceive them, whatever). You could do nothing but fight. Suckage. That one should have been able to be solved through stealth. Due to the level design and enemy placement, it was impossible to do it without a slaughter. Yet another part of the game in which you were forced to fight unless you had lots of levels in Obfuscate. No possibility of a stealthy/mental/social approach. That's not V:tM, that's DOOM. Not if you wanted to get any ending other than Prince Lacroix. You are forgetting the Nosferatu warrens, too. You could skip that one too, right? The last part of the game sucked because it completely wasted the mental/social talents your PC had been developing through the whole game, just to favor senseless killing. R00fles indeed.
  22. Don't give me all that politics crap man, I'm just discussing facts here. I'm not interested in politics. And so far, you haven't posted any figures about the prices of body armor, so I'm just not going to take your word for it. Usually Defense contracts reduce the price of the acquired product due to the large numbers bought, so I don't think the same price you can get an armor vest for is the same price the US government is getting. Will body armor prevent all soldiers from dying? No. Will body armor save lives? Yes. You lose. And um, about teflon coated rounds, I suggest you do some more thorough research. It appears that while armor-piercing ammunition is effective against soft armor (the lower scales of the graphic you posted), its effectiveness against heavier types of armor is greatly reduced. Most hunting/assault/sniper rifle ammunition is considered AP per se, so if the armor protects against rifle fire, it most likely affords protection against teflon coated handgun rounds. You might find this read informative on 'Cop-Killer' bullets.
  23. From the 'Interceptor OTV' body armor manufacturer:
  24. Your point? Surely you are not arguing that soldiers shouldn't be equipped with body armor because it's uncomfortable? Or perhaps you think that since it won't prevent you from getting shrapnel in your face, body armor is totally worthless? And you have to remember that the militias in Iraq are not a professional, well equipped army, either. Obviously, body armor is not designed to be effective against machine gun fire, but that's not reason enough not to have every soldier well equipped. Body armor is an efficient protection against small caliber firearms and it appears to offer a certain degree of protection against rifle rounds. And it's definitely a lifesaver against shrapnel. I really can't understand how you are defending the idea that US troops shouldn't be equipped with every possible protection measure, even if that protection only provides a small chance of getting out of a combat alive. I am inclined to believe that if you were over there, you would want some body armor for yourself, too.
  25. I'm gonna try real life. I've been hearing cool things about that lately.
