  1. Why? Does the "free speech space" not extend to faculty? Yep. There is a world of difference between a paid professional educator and a student. Sure, they could tell a student to bleep off, but that doesn't mean they get to keep their jobs. Students have to do considerably more to not be allowed to pay money to go to school.
  2. My kids are good at leaving the freezer door just slightly afar, so it defrosts everything. I actually check it every night before I go to bed as part of my routine.
  3. Labels are just for people who are too lazy to actually engage in conversation.
  4. I don't know Volo, I didn't even see anyone from Variety at our latest Social Justice Clubhouse meeting. Ooops, I mean, what social justice clubhouse? I definitely didn't snack on any gluten free quinoa granola or drink kombucha served in mason jars.
  5. Expecting an entertainment rag to be well researched and intelligent is foolish. Misinterpreting it as some sort of SJW agenda is tin foil hat territory.
  6. I had the same initial reaction to a number of changes. But I did get comfortable with it after a couple hours. I think it is like turning to a radio station in the middle of a song, and how it just sounds like noise for a bit before you start to recognize the rhythm. We were headed in expecting one thing and it was jarring to find something different.
  7. Commit to the bit people. Ribs will heal.
  8. We were just talking about this in a staff meeting the other day, apparently our sex ed curriculum is about 50 years old. Of course, most teachers are good enough at their jobs to modernize it a bit.
  9. Those jetman things are terrifying.
  10. Hey, I'm just excited Bethesda figured out how to use some colors this time around. DC was pretty dang grey.
  11. Hey, I'm a history guy, not a science guy. That doesn't get under my skin as much.
  12. As a candidate for President, I certainly do not expect you to be an expert on archeology or even history. But I do expect you to be smart enough to listen to an entire world of experts who have actually done the studying, or at least not dumb enough to throw out your own unfounded opinions. I am no longer interested in Ben Carson as a candidate.
  13. Sorry to hear you are going through a rough patch Orogun. I don't know if it will help, but I always try and remind myself that there is no rush to get to the end. We will all get there eventually, and no matter what you believe happens after, it is final. But there is plenty we can do to make the trip a bit more enjoyable. Drinking is one thing, the thought of a good beer can get me through a few of my tougher tasks, but that also can lead to some headaches, literally and figuratively. I'd say the biggest change I've made recently that really improved my life is being more active. Playing hockey has always been a good way for me to keep my sanity week to week, but I've also started running and doing yoga. It gets addicting, and that is a pretty good thing to be hooked on. Best of luck, I'm sending you positive thoughts.
  14. I got campaigner (ENFP-A) Variant: Assertive Role: Diplomat Strategy: People Mastery Basically me and Ros are the same person.
  15. Yeah, it's a few bucks off right now on Steam, so I've been thinking about pre-ordering it.
  16. Schools change to help whichever demographics are struggling. At my predominantly Asian school, we are supposed to focus on raising the test scores of the white kids, because they perform lower than anyone else. Volo is becoming harder to read than Gromnir. Realistically though, the good teachers just focus on helping whoever needs it the most, regardless of race or gender. But superintendents, administrators, and talking heads need stuff say in order to justify their salaries.
  17. I am disappointed in Hoonding's choice for a hot flash joke. Clearly you people do not spend enough time around middle aged women.
  18. I think I was about 12 when I played the first Warcraft. It was a pretty amazing game at the time. THen WoW recaptured that imagination. The first time I explored a keep was great.
  19. Well I would love some furniture that wasn't as old as the school itself. Our tables and chairs seem to be designed to be as uncomfortable as possible. But getting a district to replace furniture in every classroom is an uphill battle, I'm guessing I'll get new stuff the year before I retire.
  20. Saint's Row 5 is already out, and it takes place in Hell.
  21. Kids are way less tied to their seats than they used to be. It is standard pedagogy to get kids moving, talking, and interacting with materials. Not always easy with 35 kids in a room, but it happens.
  22. Apparently Punisher will feature heavily in the new Daredevil season. Given how awesome that first season was, and given he is my favorite comic book character, I'm pretty excited.
  23. Yikes Nep, my wife had that. It was worse than the colonoscopy according to her.
