  1. Let's get out of the forests and dwarven ruins. This is a game set in a wonderful, unique 16th century world space. Show me something like the islands colonized by Spain...Cuba, Haiti, et al...I'd love to see a deep jungle setting, or the Arab world- essentially any of the great culture clashes of the real world. I liked the way that was handled in POE, but it's still the same physical setting as dragon age and most of the elder scrolls (with the caveat of morrowind). Stories like Solomon Kaine, movies like Apocolypse Now, that **** would be amazing. It creates a situation where you get a home base/ stronghold that is mobile- pirate ship? Also, I'd love to see the ranger class move away from ranged and pet to something more interesting.
  2. I run a melee rogue with 18 per, 18 res. it gives you high deflection for a rogue. If you add all +damage traits, you begin to hit pretty hard. This also gets you a lot of good dialogue options. It's counter intuitive, but it works pretty well especially on normal.
  3. My rogue is 18 perception/17 resolve....it gives a good deflection, which helps you survive, and i still do good damage. It's not optimized, but it works well, if you're worried about staying up.
  4. Why don't you find rogue fun as it is? Are you getting knocked out too quick? As long as you get an affliction on a target, you going to have the increased damage bump. Also, the rogues main function isn't traps.
  5. I wish the weapon you created was your choice. Spear isn't useful to me.
  6. Anybody ever watch the old movie, the duellists? Ridley Scott, Harvey kietel...duels. That'll teach you all you need to know about sword fighting. Really though, I hope they do change up single weapon. Maybe a modal toggle between add deflection/increased attack speed and crit chance for the talent.

  8. Thanks. The dialogue options were big for me, as well. I much prefer the subtle touch to slamming a guy against the wall when I want his lunch money.
  9. He gets a +10 bonus to swords and arquebuses I think. Consider letting him fire in your opening volley, then follow the tank into battle. He generally needs to be close enough to tank and flanking characters that his level 2 heal over time spell gets most of your characters. I'm pretty sure he has high deflection from perception, so he can take a few hits if you put him in chain/scale and a shield. He's been reasonably useful for me
  10. Eternitykeeper- we definitely need that as soon as possible. You have to be able to give your character a haircut in RPGs now, that's like a rule.
  11. But seriously, we had like 2 years to debate the classes and attribute system. The game is out now, let's complain about the story or the characters for a while. Variety, people.
  12. I'm using this set up. My damage is massive, but I am a bit squishy- if you start out with the blunderbuss/pistol, then flank, you can stay up.
  13. Also, it would be hilarious if they (or you) could write in how the character died - After valiantly slaying the magic dragon, Hero was torn to pieces by a pack of wild dogs. Why, oh why, didn't he rest before venturing forth?
  14. Rogue has several active abilities, but if you want the flavor of the bard- spells, song- chanter is the class for you. Check sensuki's youtube he has builds for two weapon rogue and tank chanter.
  15. so, I've really liked the way some of the community members have created builds with a video to help explain their thinking. I think seeing a build in action makes the information very accessible to new players and players who might like to try a class they don't usually play. Plus, it seems clear people enjoy posting their ideas for classes and talking about them (duh). Thus, to consolidate this information and help alleviate boredom at work around 4:00 pm, maybe we could build a thread where people post their build videos? it might be good to discuss how to go about this, but, mainly, it'd be great to just check one thread and see what people are thinking/using in the early days. anyways, just an idea.
  16. i love rangers. I've dreamed about being one since i read Lord of the Rings. I think that as long as they are defined by having a pet, they're never going to be the rugged, fast. skirmisher class i want them to be. Hopefully, OE will make them as awesome as they deserve in an expansion. If not, i can always (try and) build a sturdy rogue, or a fast fighter. either way, game comes out in a week. I tremble with anticipation.
  17. So they haven't changed the talent or the speed or anything like that? I was hoping to do a single wield character.
  18. Haven't played 480 beta, or the subsequent update. Is single wield still busted compared to other choices? Ant news on if they plan to fix it? Thanks
  19. Along these lines, I'd like to know if a rogue can be built for extra suvivabilty and still be effective, or are they relegated to squishy damage dealers.
