very nice work, you really seem to know your way around graphic editing, it looks very nice and works well inside within the limitations. I think its smart to put the portraits/abilites button right in the middle and I really love the inventory backpack, journal and character buttons(kind of reminds me commandos UI), with that said its hard not to notice how compared to them the rest of the buttons which will take most of my attention are hard to distinguish.(like the number 5 over what looks like a red potion) So, I know there is a very little vertical space for you to work with, but if possible i'd make everything other than the portraits bigger even by a couple of pixels: 1. Starting with the bottom indication circles under the portraits. (Btw I don't know what the devs are planing, but as is unless they are supposed to be some kind of color coded general indicators, that you'd have to hover over the character portrato see what it actually means, I don't know what the point) 2. The abilities(?) buttons on top of the portraits, you can easily steal few pixels from the wide panel above. 3. The actions(?) button to the left of the portraits, you can easily make them larger.

similarly I can say that you assume that damage bonus you get from int is the most important/effective among the rest.. without even knowing the specifics of the attributes effects or how it balanced out among the abilities/talents/etc My two cents: It was said that Rouge class has the most per target damage, but that resolve(AoE damage) is important to them, so it possible that you have several path of developing your skills for whatever attribute you choose. Monks relies on getting hit to power their abilities and Barbarian has some special thing involving stamina/health, I doubt that int is their most important attribute. Personally, I would start with a fighter who is responsible for area control, to hold on and soak up the damage(Again no healing), not a heavy hitter. Also going by defense groups you have to focus on health\stamina dexterity\perception or int\resolve.

People will continually defend allegedly "crap" cops, for the same reason people crucify cops based on some one sided story the heard on the news. Such media Crucifixion, which is not even black and white observation, but completely ignoring due diligence in gathering all the facts and just running with the allegedly "victim" story, because they already know what happened as seen in the last paragraph "What can you do? SPREAD THE WORD! Let people know what kind of POLICE STATE American citizens are facing". Is a great reason why good cops(or anyone else) should never slap down anyone based on some news crap.

@Rostere, you mentioned that we "must fight nationalism and all try to live together", its interesting because I have been reading some of your post here and they stink of right wing radical who has nothing todo other than post smear post against Israel.. I wonder ... Also I don't agree with your characterization of the situation. I hope you are not trying to suggest that Israel and Palestinian actions paint the former as THE nationalistic among the two and the later as the one who want to try to live together. While I understand the motivation behind some the actions taken by the international community at the time, I also think that many of them has proved counter productive in the long term, and served only to solidify and exacerbate the conflict.

Keep inmind that there is no healing, if you dump your health stat, you'll be going to have to run back and forth to rest... I am not certain about Endurance, but landing that damage will be hard unless you can actually hit your target and if I understand correct many classes has powerful abilities which provide critical damage and or AoE abilities which rally on duration, so without Resolve and Perception you'll be limited to standard hack and slash only. Other than that, there always will be min\maxing.

My thought exactly. Considering that all of our abilities(attack/healing) are soul related, it only makes sense that whatever attribute that tied us to our soul, will improve upon its abilities. It can fit very nicely with Elerond variant.

It's not surprising at all, but taking care of one's body isn't the same as raw physical power. According to your system the stronger you are the more attractive your are.. which doesn't sit well with me, sure I find fit people more physically attractive, but down that road you got strongmen which I don't find physically attractive.(I am trying to say its bell curve rather than liner correlation) PR wise what it means that our pack mule would look like Greek god... while our Greek godess are only those who can bench press like a mule :/ I agreed with what you said(I said as much before, though not as eloquently), which is why I was surprised that you wanted to lump mental faculties with perception, which I see in the traditional sense as physical attribute i.e. how well you can see\hear\smell and everything else is pattern recognition(just like you read) that allows you to pick on the right spot to hit, or avoid stepping into a trap(in our case skill). Which is not the same as wits or picking on social cues, but if we don't get too anal it might work.. so I guess the real reason I wasn't happy about it is that it replaced intelligence with a more limited option RP wise. I still think you splitting hairs between personality traits, which can be RP with your character disposition or play style and it doesn't sound counter intuitive that Barbarian use Resolve when Fighters use Ferocity. How about a more neutral name? Just making sure, also the highlighted part suggest that you are more informed then I am The devs tend to spread around a lot of breadcrumbs across multiple forums/posts/interviews, which is why I generally prefer the wiki, the guys there doing a nice job of keeping it updated. If anyone stumble across something they don't either add it or post in the wiki thread here in general)

@aluminiumtrioxid: 1. "I'd prefer if it was a useful ability outside of combat" - Just in case, it should be mention that every attribute already has some use outside of combat in scripted interactions, even though we don't know it atm. 2. "Can help in displays of raw physical power, and seduction" - teeing physical power and seduction :/ 3. "Acuity replaces Per" - I don't think that the physical attributes and mental faculties that allow us to be Perceptive in conversation and combat are the same. 4. "Ferocity" - The examples previously mentioning by indra wasn't about Ferocity as much as about some underline pumped kid being cornered, acting out of desperation and ambushing unsuspecting bigger guy. That something everyone has and has much less effect on experienced fighters in real fights, compared to Resolve/willpower to win. Your distinction between Ferocity/Resolve feels like splitting hairs between personality traits not attributes i.e. one is passion, the other is lack of passion, but what if max both? Overall to me your changes come down to: Body - Strength/charisma Acuity - Perception/Wits Ferocity - Resolve/Ferocity Resolve - Resolve/Composure

UK Muslims targeted for speaking out about terror
Mor replied to Walsingham's topic in Way Off-Topic
Yes, but benefit is also very much in the eye of the beholder. Its no secret that colonial power made a lot of profit of their investments, after all no countries are in the philanthropic business. As for colonials, I am intersected to know how you measure the benefit to them?(In terms of infrastructure investmentindustries, education, social progress etc.. many of them still use variants of British "modern" laws ) are you saying that they would have done better if they were left alone? Also I am not certain how the discussion got sidetracked, but I hope it wasn't a long the lines of "sins of the father" apologizing. You can find "daddy" issues everywhere, but when I hear those, more often that not its about excuses or people who like/exploit the victimization angle, because it means that others own them and they don't need to do ****. -
@Elerond, Just the other page I said that it might be best to leave things as they are(to avoid making the game less intuitive to fans of the previous games, with alien terms which are just as vague/abstract/confusing) but your variant changed my mind, it is simple and common enough. The only thing I am still not sure about is any variant of intelligence, I'd really want to know more on how its known benefits applies, what its use in conversations and if it has any bearing on anything else like skill points. Because right now it seem wrong. Also with all talk about strength of souls in PE, who knows maybe "intelligence" connected to it somehow.

Stamina Regeneration POLL (Merge?)
Mor replied to Osvir's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
I don't think you understand how stamina\health works... what you suggest will make health redundant. also if you want to make the game more difficult play on the hardest level with all challenge modes on.(Modes) If by the time you finish your first game, you still require more challange, I am sure you'll be able to find some mods that will help you to that fix. -
I think that in general you'll find increased suicide rate among people who lost their job, especially if they go from demanding job which filled their life, to doing nothing at home with disability. Also for many workplace is their social circle(like school/University/etc) and loosing that might feels like they are alone... I'll put my money on most of those suicides being committed by singles. Anyway, I think such statistic show that either they got a lot of suicides or very little death on job, maybe a comparison to other population groups is in order.

I like the name as they are, while somewhat differently interpreted in game terms, the idea behind them is the same and renaming them to something will make it less intuitive. IMO the problem is the carry over from BG, attributes used to be simple/familiar: Strength favored by warrior types, Dexterity rogues, Intelligence sorcerers, Wisdom Mages, Charisma Druids.. But atm we don't know/familiar enough to pin down what will best fit for our first build and that makes us anxious(that or maybe the balancing act for better gameplay came at the cost of intuitiveness )

Sounds good. More companions so we don't have to suffer annoying ones and have more options in our party composition is always good. I am not too happy about wilderness areas, because they tend to be easy mob mopup but other love them. Stronghold can be easily expanded, with the help of people you meat through your adventures or rule, and who can say no to more questlines?

I agree 'Power' and 'Might' seems little off, concerning the amount of items you can carry in your backpacks, i'd rather go with more familiar Strength.(btw did item weight has been mentioned anywhere?) Also as far as I know there are no restrictions on what weapon or armor characters can use not per attribute nor per class, Its all about speed. http://eternity.gamepedia.com/Attribute http://eternity.gamepedia.com/Armor

I agree that compared to going the publisher way, kickstarter is great funding method for the developers, in fact its a low risk gold mine. However, from the consumer side its worst case of pre-orders, which I am not happy about and skeptical that they can maintain the same level of funding with only those "premiums" for long. Lets leave it at that

I think you confuse the role of intelligence and skill, otherwise using the same argument intelligence should give bonus to almost everything in the game. Simply replace warrior and weapon with any other class and skill.

Stamina Regeneration POLL (Merge?)
Mor replied to Osvir's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Skyrim is bad example as it doesn't have attributes in the same sense as PoE(or any cRPGs). I think since morrwind they are down to health, mana and this stamina which is the measurement of how fatigue you are. In PoE stamina represents how much punishment you can take in combat, while health is how much punishment you can take without resting. -
So compared to BG animancers are like Mages and Wizards like sorcerers? In the sense that Mages suppose to be the masters of arcane knowledge. There was many schools of magic, ways to tap it and innate abilities, but overall being a mage is about pursuit of arcane knowledge. So Wizards aren't the master of arcane, they are just a subset of soul magic, they are people with some innate ability, who learned how to trap soul magic in one way.

If people want to play PE on something with a controller(Steam box, PS,xbox, whatever), then as long as you don't mind a port which would have to be dumbed down compared to the PC version and can gather enough money specifically for this goal. Then sure why not. I wonder what is the cost for outsourcing such cross platform solution.
