Instead of picking or start a topic that does interest you... Trolls are Internets ass clowns. Life's too short to worry too much about anything. As for health, life expectancy is going up and up, and healthcare cost rise, eventually things are going to change or what your old folks live like will be deluxe compared to what will happen when you get old . I prefer that for once it don't get changed in the way of more hands reaching for my pay check.

For the same reason your body generates that heat in the first place? Other than that when in the thick of it keep hydrated, eat if possible and rest(use pillows to keep "up", they are not for your comfort per se, but to let gravity do its work for that crap in your respiratory system)

I was going more in the direction of why some people love women tennis i.e. short skirts and those wailings (why they are not banned?!), but sure why not.

Uhm, yes.. the government taxes and regulate a lot of things. However, that not what you meant, you were going with demagoguery BS about 'they take our freedom, we need to put our foot down'. Again, what I said was that: It is the governments job to address Public health issue, obesity is regarded as the most pressing issue of the century. The specific solution that I proposed for addressing this issue(which effects others and preventable through exercise of control by the individual) was incentives through taxation(direct or exemption). Maybe. Though your income is already "regulated" (notice all the tax deductions), if "health" clause is added as prerequisite for deductions it can be just one more forum to fill or covered through other means like the usual medical checkups.- 165 replies

I never understood Curlng, however, after another reflection many people find activities which involve bending over and rubbing exciting.. so who knows ...

I liked the first couple of minutes, the foreboding condemnation warnings and the futuresk aesthetics. But once I figured it will be about "zombies" outbreak, hiding in the ventilation shafts I said pass. Also what kind of retard security chief don't realize that the reason someone will chop off a hand is exactly why he had to meet his new guests couple of hours ago.(it was soo obvious) As far as I see this show lives on two things, the BIG secret behind this whole thing(i can assure you that the soldier boy is not it, they will change it midways to have another BIG secret behind it) and you liking the characters, thus the sexy(voice/look) whatever his name, the barely legal assistant and the predictable love triangle. (sex scene incoming) It can be a good time waster for someone who hasn't seen this same thing hundreds of times before.

or improve my English... I don't know why do people discuss politics and policy, for that matter why do you?

I recently seen the first episode of Helix, IMO it is a uninspired time waster. On the other hand HBOs 'True detectives' so far I am loving it, but then again I love crazy detectives. Also surprised that to learn that True blood still running, didn't care much for it other then its intro, love it.

Walsi, you know your food ( also for once I know all the ingredients by name. unlike last time, when I had to punch it in Wikipedia before I realized what it was)

You know "the point"? It's on the opposite side of the Earth from you. In regards to the post I made and the reply. Ignoring that, more than half the people in the US are "health crazy people on the fringe" by your definition. The proportion of Americans who smoke tobacco is about 17% these days. Laws and ordinances going up to prevent secondhand smoke (i.e. you smokers bothering other people by giving them cancer, or with your noxious hobo-like stench,) are constantly popping up in cities and states without fail. Yes, you are being persecuted. It's a tragedy. My point was that as long as people smoke on their own time( no extra smoking breaks ) and their own dime( paying the extra indirect taxes to support their habit ) and without effecting anyone( not in public places) then the vast majority don't give a ****.( You can choke on your smokes in your own apartment and most of us won't care). While the fringe being those who try to convert you from smoking or those who see this as huge scheme by the big corporations. Also this is not persecution, this basic common sense e.g. if farts were toxic, I wouldn't fart in your face and regulation against people who do isn't persecution, but basic boundaries.

Ofcourse, that why there is a HUGE indirect tax on cigarettes(at least here) More like you put words in others mouth, because no one said that. Here what I said with highlights: This is the leading preventable cause of death worldwide, with increasing rates in adults and children. Which is regarded as the most serious public health problems of the 21st century.- 165 replies

I read about it, I am not certain that it was a marijuana overdose per se. No more that people dropping dead in the steam room from hear attack is steamroom overdose..

Off course it is, look how you all got riled up trying to make it seem as if it is unfair tax or unwarranted intervention by the government telling you what todo, cranking up the melodrama with compulsory camps BS. Fact is that this is the leading preventable cause of death worldwide, with increasing rates in adults and children. Which is regarded as the most serious public health problems of the 21st century. - So, yes this is exactly the domain of the government. And like most laws, its not about baby siting you, no one can force you todo what you don't want todo, its about you paying for your owning habit.- 165 replies

You guys over thinking it, as long as you smoke it on your own time and dime, without effecting anyone else, no one gives a ****(maybe the usual health crazy people fringe)

Did you guys know that Smart people die everyday?

Ouhh more people acting out... despite the crazy analogies, it is really simple, everyone else shouldn't pay for your habit.- 165 replies

This maybe true, but this path has a slippery slope. For example the black population in the US, how much time has passed since and iirc they are still the poorest population sector, even compared to Hispanics which have a large immigration component to it. I am not saying that you are wrong, they very likely earned the right to making a big deal of it. However, at some point it start to become counter productive, no one likes "drama queens" (intentionally going with stereotypes) not entitled white rich boys ranting about daddy issues, not poor black boys from the hood ranting about oppression, nor homosexuals who stuck in the teendanger attention/recognition phase. Also FU guys, it was 43 extras minutes of being stuck in traffic, with way too many commercials, crappy music and "joker" radio host as companion, all the while contemplating a monster truck road rage..

If I didn't know better, I would have said what a nice Photoshop work. Also congrats to her for her 4th gold ! (ETA: Actually bad google work on my part, its much more then 4 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marit_Bjørgen) I find it healthy to look around myself and look for straight people going "Look at us!" It's pretty much everywhere. I find it healthy to remember that part of being normal means being treated like everyone else.. i.e. the last step that gay people need to take is to learn to accept criticism, otherwise they will never be normal in their own eyes..

To be honest, initially when reading about the law(I think there was more then one) that Russia passed to limit LGBT parades, I was ambivalent about it, first its not the only country with similar laws iirc there few such as this in the USA, but mostly because I am so sick of those parades, which at this point seem like call for attention, seeking universal recognition which no one have. HOWEVER and that is a huge huge huge however, I remembered that it is Russia we are talking about and not where I grew up, where LGBT kids at school treated far better then any of the "usual suspect" for abuse, who get the blind eye from society. For those who had similar misconceptions about this issue, in Russia. Here is a nice video on the issue: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMTbFSJ_Tr4

Speaking of slowly eroding the sanctions and get what you want by played for time. The recent Syrian "peace talks" end in nothing. The chemical weapons disarmament agreement started with nice headlines and ended with Syria missing its deadline, sending only 4% if its arsenal most useless arsenal, claiming its because security risks demanding various daul purpose security equipment such as armored jackets electronic countermeasures, while international ships are waiting in port spending money... All the while Assad solidfy its controll with the flow of new arms... Which is not surprising considering Syria previous track record nuclear inspectors, where it only appeared to be cooperating. Which is why I don't really care about Syria and Iran fancy statements and claims, I look at their track record. Which shady at best, as I noted in the snipset above. Also those who think that the new Iranian figurehead is more moderate, forger that he was the lead Iranian Nuclear negotiator and see how IEAE describe Iranian effort at that time...

It always easier todo something when you have a goal in mind, some event, some woman, whatever. But what I have been trying to say all along, that in the end you are doing it for yourself. Just like with personal hygiene, you don't shower and brush your teeth so that someone won't get grossed, you do it for yourself, fitness is exactly the same. Its about not neglecting yourself and should be a basic part of life. I didn't spoke about strong and weak, I didn't tried to quantify the path a person took, refer to his past or put it in relative terms to other. I only spoke about people who give up. I agree, positive encouragement, support and communication are perfect if we are talking about a personal approach, but IMO in terms of making policy this approach doesn't translate i.e. fliers on your windshield, in your mailbox, commercials, seminars and other general non personal approaches are regarded by most as "spam"... and you can't make it personal without going 1984 and big brother and becoming really intrusive. Just to make sure, no one is banning anything or saying that you shouldn't do what you want. However, some of the thing that you want todo has consequences on all of us, direct like in secondhand smoking or indirect like medical bills over smoking and obesity related issues. So what I suggested is that you can do whatever you want todo, but pay for its the consequences, not shuffle it everyone else.- 165 replies

Interesting. The "Sochi's Mayor Says the City Is Magically Gay-Free" sounds like the Soviet when before the party parades cities where made free of undesirables, who were forcibly institutionalized and some in cases those who dared resit were "treated" in a way which is now described as crime against humanity. Also I just checked the location of sochi and was surprised its on the Black Sea, I though it would be further east. Yeah, it also usually a one way ticket to late life medical issues.

No, it just follows tax laws in most of the world, in which the financially weaker part of society contributes next to nothing to direct taxation.(in some places they even have negative income tax)- 165 replies

Everyone have a sad story... its not about that, just as with crime it is not about correlation and contributing factors, it is about the realization that you can overcome then and improve your life. Every social change start somewhere exposure on media, social pressure, education etc, however, there is nothing better then personal realization and will to put an effort. You are a personal trainer, tell me how many of the people who came to you and said they didn't care or shoveled excuses, at the end of the road said they didn't know how they lived before? So yes my bottom line is the same. It is about not giving up on yourself, self control, small steps.. If understanding contributing factors is part of that then great, but more often then not it used as excuse not to start anything. There are two kinds of people losers and winners, winners are not losers and losers are those who give up. "Big brother" is such a cynical term, used by certain people to describe any policy they don't like. After all the "government" says what you can and can't do about every aspect of your life, from how the wiring in your house walls should be, to what can or can't be show on TV. After all you wont say big brother telling me I can't have kidy porn(hopefully). So it is a point of view kind of thing. Anyway personally, I am all in favor of incentives and education(they sound so much better then the alternative) but there are so many issues that need to be addressed and so little of the budget cake. So what you see as punishment I see as personal responsibility. * You can finance educational campaigns addressed at smokers and pay for extra medical costs due to smoking, through indirect taxation. * Drinking is trickier, because its not the alcohol per se(it is even recommended in certain cases), it is about its consumption. Which is kind of hard to address so i'll skip. * Food is in the same category, it is about consumption, so indirect taxation to address obesity is a collective punishment and can hurt many people who can't afford food. However you can hit it through direct taxation or tax examptions, which will tackle only obese people and wouldn't hit the financially weaker part of society.- 165 replies
