Stamina Regeneration POLL (Merge?)
Mor replied to Osvir's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
25% ? I assume its an arbitrary number. As for the last, I like the barbarian ability that allows him to ignore moving penalties and rush at your undefended weak behind. Stamina Damage is converted to Health Damage at a ratio of 4:1. [snip] uhm.. I am not certain how the health damage ratio relates to your previous statement, which I read as "You do not need to worry about your Health until its low.." -
Update #66: Double Whammy

Like I said before, the current stronghold looks like an early concept art i.e. to show us how it will work the two states for buildings ruined/rebuilt and present some of the "features"(building) of the stronghold. If that all it is then fine, otherwise it looks like a walled in collection of loosely related building, not somewhere people would live. For example, here I can believe people lived: Remove most of the houses add spread around a Forum, Hedge Maze, Botanical gardens and huge expansive wall and not so much... Like I said from the start, I am pretty certain that is an early concept art, it certainly lacks a lot of elements and I am hopeful that in the final version it will look more functional and alive. p.s. per previous reference here is NWN2 stronghold:- 208 replies

Right now we don't know much about Attributes, so drawing parrlles to other system is all we can do. Its a nice theory you built. It makes sense that Defense stats will be effected by attributes, but at the moment all we know is that there are class specific initial values. Athletics is one of the skills in eternity.

I didn't said that people can't adjust to 5 days schedule. There is little we can't do with time and determination, and bettering ourself is something that we should all strive for. However, there is only 24 hours in our day(usually it seems like much less) and there are many venues to better our life, which is why we pick and choose. Which is why I offered with bare minimum definition, if someone want to take the extra mile go ahead, but at the very least everyone should take care not to neglect themself. btw you are 200% right about the adjustment period, its really hard to get yourself into gear, especially to people who can be categorized as couch potatoes, but as with all things in month(?) they should start to feel the effects. IMO the important thing is to find a routine you can work with past the first month.

I don't know about celebrity fitness experts, but if but if you change "light cardio training" in your last sentence to "vigorous exercise" its pretty much the two medical expert recommendations. IMO the 5 times a week schedule is not a realistic for many people. Personally, I would never been able to keep up such ridicules schedule in the university, the army(mandatory here) or now at work\family life. Maybe if I was celebrity I'd be able to do more than 1-3 days a week and while I probably can't press as much as Woldan, I still more fit than 90% of the kids I see today. Also definition of "fitness" may differ, i'd settle for the more traditional definition of not being fat i.e. do whatever, as long as at the end of the day you don't need to make up cute nick names for your abdominal fat layers.

There are many games to occupy your mind. You can also use music to pass time(just make sure to pick something that makes you energetic). There is also the TV magic, you can loose time with it on treadmill, even when you almost sprinting. Although I personally not a fan of the gym, usually I prefer company friends\wife to jog\fast walk with a quick stop on one of the "outdoor exercise ares".(I think we got more of them around here than Starbucks used to be in the USA)

Mor replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
@Posbi, I think you made some good points in the previous post, the early concept art release for our stronghold indeed looks bland. Like a HoMM town screen, with a huge wall around it rather than an actual stronghold. Hopefully its just an early concept, because with few tweaks it can look just like this:- 208 replies

Stamina Regeneration POLL (Merge?)

Same here. I think stamina is part of the new combat design, tied with per battle abilities and possibly used for those attacks (as I suggested before) In that I don't think Osvir understand the designers goals by creating health and stamina, or at least his suggestion doesn't appear play to either strength. If the intent is to encourage people rest more, then going by BG like system, it should be a timer based drain on max stamina i.e. after several hours start to lower max stamina by % down to 80%. -
I don't know about you, but a wolf on the edge of my camp is not a "whatever" situation However, I think you are on the right path. Ranger are good woodsmen hunters, highly adept at tracking and survival, their companions should play on that. For example Scouting: a falcon will scout ahead of the party, warning you of incoming enemies(and give you extended range?) or wolf with extended senses that would growl in the direction of close by enemies, giving you advanced warning. Hunting: Wolf that would be able to "hide in shadows" i.e. get on his hunches and sneak by try to ambush your attackers archers.(would need a strong AI, to avoid too much micro) tracking/survival: maybe you can use your soul bounded beast to run around to help you find traps/secret locations better?

Many of the post above reads as "I want more freedom", and others noted that without a human DM, it's very hard to express real life possibilities in game terms. Combining spells seems like a presentation issue a "crafting" system for spells(I am certain it was done before) and sword breaking spells is easy to add behavior, iirc you already had a shock sword dropping in BG. Unless its a spell this effect a built in mechanic like disposition and dialogue option are already planed with mutliple options, something like that will be very time consuming. Which is why we don't see too much freedom in video games, a computer don't do loose interpretations of the rules, to address any quirk of imagination we might have takes will require huge amount of effort and time for very little gain. Which is why we go by what we can quantify into the general system and AI routines we are all familiar with.

Like I said before: So being fit is not about being anal with floss, its about not neglecting your self. This is nothing more than a standard advice that you would give any kid about self hygiene and seeing this as being yelled at speaks to some insecurity more than anything else.

I'm guessing that's exactly the kind of arrogance that leads others to react with hostility ("looking down on it", as you put it). It like teeth brushing, no one is forcing you to brush your teeth, but neglecting it soon become noticeable, unhealthy and generally doesn't feels good to you or your surrounding, it also takes a lot of effort to "fix" the effects. What so arrogant about pointing this out? What piss me off is the guys who don't brush their teeth making the situation uncomfortable to others, and on a road to costly dental plan, but claims that "he is ok with that", that people who suggest that brushing teeth is normal basic thing for every human being are some product of "modern" bla bla enter excuse here... well this analogy got a little out of hand but you get the point..

never mind. -
Just a little thing to add, being fit =/= being "pumped". You don't need to be a jock, and spend hours each day in the gym. Just have some basic self respect/control. For example both of my parents in their late sixties and do 4km fast walk at least once a week. Also at risk of sounding like a fortune cookie: The first step is the hardest, but its getting easier with time. Also finding someone to support or work with you will be huge bonus(even better than music).

Twin Elms Fan Art from Chris Bischoff
Mor replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
Nice concept, though not how I imagined it, there is nothing saying second large town about it. I thought 'Twin elms' would be like Kuldahar in IWD, centered around the tree\s and embedded into the surrounding only much larger.- 38 replies

Is it possible that European/American armour/weapon designs seems like "rehashing their childhood DnD memories mixed with american football gear" because it was done so many times before that they try to distinguish them-self by trying a more stylized exaggerated approach? which is exactly how I perceive anime style in relation to the Japaneses armour/weapon/people design.

The problem is that some people cut down on one thing, supplementing it with another. Fact is you can eat whatever you want, as long as its in the right proportions or if you are willing to work out to get off the extra and there is a simple measurement of your success to know if you are doing alright or deluding yourself. First the mirror(stand sideways) to see if there is extra hanging, and mostly the weight scale.

@obyknven, Mirror? You just a teenager in a nationalistic phase, after discovering the world of internet and how differently your country portrayed in it. It gives you purpose to think you show "us" the "other side" of Russia, while you are walled in your perception of the "west". Mirror mirror on the wall tell me who is the preties of them all... I understand it can be a shock sometimes to people from countries with limited press freedom. I think its good to try to discuss issues through information. But this here is nothing but cheap PR pamphlet stuff. @Walsingham, the T in the translation, should be S, for S***, just like Г is for гавно.

Wow, I didn't realize it is the same person 14 pages in... This youtube clip hunt and national pride expression are cute, but more often than not those sentiments are false, as it is, on most international indexes Russia ranked near far from the top near the "3rd world" countries. Too bad I can't find a speicifc index that deals with police performance, but I can connect the dots with corruption and civil liberates indexes. Police is not measured by how good some Special response team can shoot or how bad an exception can captured on youtube.

I am annoyed when people look down on this, or suggest that some people shouldn't bother, to me fitness is not different from basic hygiene i.e. integral part of you life.

Well no, because with data retention your personal data will remain on their servers until one day it's felt it might be needed. Then if you ever become an undesirable in any way, it's nice and handy. I thought most developed countries has laws which stipulates what kind of information can be stores and for how long(as well as bunch of other related issues)
