  1. Seeing as the real world inspiration for Brunhilde was a Spanish Visigoth, I don't really see the problem - she's clearly already changed colour before. Spider-Man himself and his support characters are also pretty racial neutral. The characters could work in basically any racial setting. Casting Thor as black however would be a bit weird - as they did with Heimdal. But the Marvel universe is pretty diverse as it is and since the Norse gods are a race of aliens, I guess skin color is the lesser detour
  2. But you're the good SS! Nothing new about it - most works of teenage fiction (which is the target group of most games these days) revolves around an absolute morality of some kind.. and even more so in the post-apoc genre. It'd be almost genre defying if you weren't an absolute, be it copper or raider.
  3. The Way of Life dlc was such a cluster**** when you actually paid attention to what happened in the logs and made Ironman mode and multiplayer almost unplayable - partly because crafty players could essentially screw you over with game mechanics that there was no defense against. Losing a 10 hour game because of a coin toss you have no influence over, is not that fun. The addition of coalitions also made the game extremely unbalanced for the player - in one instance in a game I played, the pope united with the Abbassid (whom they had just holy warred eariler) against a single Italian county ruler that conquered a neighbor... Then a 60K+ deathstack mauled that little count, because the mechanics decided he was such a threat that Christanity and Islam had to unite to destroy him. This happened all over, with mortal enemies coming together because single counts doubled their realm size (something the mechanics decided was a huge deal). It's been dialed back ,but it's still moronic. It's a design policy that plagues many new Paradox titles, where they throw in mechanics haphazardly and without much fore- or afterthought. I hope they're gonna be smarter about it with Stellaris.
  4. Same problem with Crusader Kings2.. They need to learn to let go, almost a unique problem in the industry.
  5. Moved to 'Stories' so you can spoil away.
  6. Wasn't that the game where the developer got massively cheated by his "friends" because he didn't contractually oblige them to do any work for their pay, so they just burned the cash from the kickstarter on booze, parties and left?
  7. A Game of Thrones mod for Crusader Kings. Playing as Robb Stark I honored the marriage to Freys daughter (saving my head), marched on Harrenhall and defeated the Lannister armies, freeing Arya. Then sieged Kings Landing until I won the war. Sacked the capital and installed Stannis on the throne, personally executing Jaime and Cerci (both of which lost trial by combat with their father and Clegane as champions).. Now the incest kids and Tyrion rot in the dungeons while the South fights over the crumbs. The North Remembers indeed.
  8. After finishing Pillars I've benn trying to find a new game. A Game of Thrones for Crusader Kings 2 was just updated, so in prep for season 6 I think I'm gonna conquer Essos as Volantis or Lyr. Or maybe topple the Marcells as a smaller lord.
  9. It failed to deliver on what was promised, but the game is in and on itself fair enough at the current price.
  10. What about the new Ashes of The Singularity and Grey Goo? Both look pretty 'old school cool'.
  11. And even so are often forced to pay taxes back home any way.. heh
  12. It's automatically taken from your paycheck, but you're free to edit deductions etc yourself and give corrections. If very clear indications of tampered inconsistencies are discovered however, the fines can be pretty brutal. The Scandinavian tax laws are however some of the most complex in the world, where you can basically get taxed (or get tax refunds) under a myriad of conditions. Policy makers have been on an austerity campaign against the tax system for the better part of 2 decades now (both left and right) and have pretty much succeeded in ****ing it up beyond repair.. which they then of course blame on the system itself, meaning a lot of the specialized workers have fled to greener pastures as spin doctors or worse yet, personal consultants for the very very rich. Rich nationals can therefore remove their taxable income in much the same as many of the leaked papers show, through investments etc.. and many of the richest in Denmark are also personal friends of policy makers and high level bankers etc, which makes it a even easier to dodge the system. It's a small country after all even more so in the corridors of power. The only reason it's not worse is probably what you would call an "honor system", and likely the reason we're called the least corrupt, it's considered improper in the extreme to cheat the system excessively (although 'a little' never hurt anyone apparently). The comparison to your system would be that Clinton would never have been booted out of office here for his affair, we don't really care about that - personal matters are personal.. but if you're caught doing severe financial crimes, your career is basically over, political or otherwise.
  13. Not sure this is fair to the reality of the modern world? Most systems work and deliver more good than bad. Corruption is a choice ultimately...yes there are factors that influence corruption but I still believe its a choice Also what systems reward the dishonest ? I know this point is subjective but because you live in Denmark which is consistently rated as one of the least most corrupt countries in the world I am interested in what systems you would consider so flawed? It frightens me how corrupt the rest of the world must really be, when we get voted least corrupt. In relation to this it was just revealed that Danish nationals annually hide upwards of 200 billion kroner each year, in contrast the state earned 1 trillion. That's a pretty big share of our potential income being tax dodged.
  14. Not so surprising to be honest, our current systems breed corruption by empowering the fraudulent and dishonest.
  15. But couldn't that be said for capitalism as well? The argument always goes that the system has been corrupted by red tape, sorta like how Batman could never work as a cop within the system of law. I don't disagree with your analysis, but rather I don't see how it doesn't work for capitalism. Your typical capitalist would, in accordance with the ideal (as Batman is), react in unison with reality, he has a very real attachment to the world and must also see the broader consequences (invisible hand). Morality however is true enough, just another cog in the wheel, if it is needed it is heeded, if not... Whereas Batman must dogmatically adhere to morality as a guiding principle to all of his other actions, in that sense he's more of a social liberal. Therefore the 'crude' comparison. I would still argue that Superman true strength flows from his ideals, not his physical prowess. Doomsday is (and in reality all of Superman's greatest arch enemies are) used as contrast to illustrate this, as he is capable of being/becoming physically stronger and ultimately more adaptable, he is pure evolution of strength whereas Superman is the pure expression of idealism. Superman is also stagnant, which is in reality his greatest weakness and therefore it is apt to compare him to Greek mythological heroes or even Norse mythology - unable to escape themselves and their fate as they are ultimately bound by laws that supercede even themselves (with power comes responsibility), but he is seperated from humanity much more so from his actions than his power. As Tarantino's analysis of Superman in Kill Bill - Superman is alien because he alienates himself from humanity by choice.
  16. Which is of course the way to do it, the west learned long ago that they are the only one to benefit when simply giving stuff away. As Kreia would say, you sap the strength of people you 'help' in this fashion, making them dependable. Social liberalism is often miscredited with the notion of just taking and giving, but it's rather the idea of having a government that helps to ensure it's easier for everyone to participate equally. Just as conservatism is about making sure that the individual has maximum freedom to do as he or she pleases, whilst not limiting other's freedom, with as little input from systems as possible. It's just that both ideas, which are great in and on themselves, are hijacked by idiots. In many ways I've always seen Superman and Batman as a kinda crude expression of both ideas, as you say Batman is as much a product of said corruption - but so is Capitalism and he is in many ways a pure capitalist - Need leading to action. In it's darkest form dogmatic, borderline fascist and violent - but when it works, extremely creative, fluid and adaptive - "always with a plan" While Superman represents the unshakable, almost unattainable ideal, that we are fundamentally better than the sum of our parts and true strength comes by standing together behind an ideal, not by working for selfish gains. The dark side of that is suffocating and inflexible doctrine and the corruption of power - but when it works it's unbeatable.
  17. Independence Day: Resurgence is coming soon, with him reviving his old role - other than that I think he mostly done minor serie roles and b-listed movies.
  18. A common misconception as well.. It's the other way around actually. We're among the richest 10% in the world, in truth I think we give far too little back (I'm sure Batman would agree, given his business practices). It's the fool that think his fortunes are entirely his own and jealously keeps his neighboor from achieving the same, for fear of diluting his own.
  19. I think he means they are turning into an EA equivalent.
  20. Yep they all do and there's party banter between the old and the new as well. The new also react to the main game world.
  21. In many ways Batman is a conservative wet dream, a morally just rich man beating poor criminals and mental paitents to a pulp each night. All of which due to a failing, overbearing and ultimately impotently corrupt system.
  22. You missed one of the spirits, you need to learn that the phrase has been magically tampered with.
  23. Zahua's was the one that've stayed the longest with me. Quite a devastating story. As for best, probably Aloth, it provides the best lore backdrop and ties well into the main story as well
  24. * should have.. And they did, but not enough I agree. You get option to level scale when you reach Elmshore.
