^ no you're right, they were also immensly proud. Basically Gwaihir owed Gandalf a favor, that he could only really call in on for taxi services it seems

Well the studies suggest that these micro singularities are subatomic, making them hard to observe outside of radiation etc

Dark Matter may end up 'just' being primordial Black Holes.

Unfortunately not, I don't know if it's due to limitations of the forum software or the way Steam handles images (think it's the latter), but you have to use a third party host.. I can recommend Imgur. -
Definitely too much so. Far too many films and shows have been ruined by staying too far or too close to the source material. Especially visually speaking, there are characters that work great in books, like The Stone Lady or Coldhands - but would seem out of place or way too extreme in a visual medium. Imagine Darios looking like this on the show Nah, I'm glad they are rewriting it to fit a TV medium..

Never seen those - can you post a screenshot? -
Hmm still a bit early I'd say, I'm around 2350 and I have ~30k in military power and ~30% of the galaxy (of course I'm playing a filthy collectivist slaver). Kinda dreading whatever crisis is coming

How early was that?

So I gotta say I love some of the emergent gameplay elements that can happen in Paradox games.. In Stellaris you can uplift presentient life - I found some beetles and made them into strong, aggressive and intelligent life to settle the Arctic planets in my empire (what could go wrong?) Then I genetically modified them into ravenous beasts to kill my enemies... (average damage is ~4 for elite troops) Depending on your empire's policies, which affect the research types available to you, you can go with slave, xeno, robot or elite troops (or all of them combined) Edit: Come to think of it, I probably just made Chryssalids - does that make me the baddies in Xcom? -
Some of the future plans for Stellaris, for those interested https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/stellaris-dev-diary-33-the-maiden-voyage.932668/ "ASIMOV" HIGHLIGHTS (NOT SET IN STONE!) Border Access Revision: Borders are now open to your ships by default, although empires can choose to Close their borders for another empire (lowering your relations, of course.) Tributaries: New diplomatic status and corresponding war goals. Joint Declarations of War: You can ask other empires to join you for a temporary alliance in a war against a specific target. Defensive Pacts. Harder to form and maintain proper Alliances. More war goals: Humiliate, Open Borders, Make Tributary, etc. Emancipation Faction. We had to cut this one at the last minute. Needs redesign. Diplomatic Map Mode. Much requested! Diplomatic Incidents: This is a whole class of new scripted events that causes more interaction with the other empires. Past “Asimov”, I can’t give you any kind of specifics yet, but I am currently leaning towards honing in on the following general areas for the “Heinlein” update (these are not promises!): CURRENT "HEINLEIN" INTENTIONS Sector and Faction Politics: We are working on a design for this. I always wanted to make Factions more closely tied to Sectors, for example... Federation and Alliance Politics: As a player, you need more ways of interacting with the other members, push your will through, and get elected, etc. Giving Directions to Allies and Subject States. Strategic Resource Overhaul: You should need these and search for them far and wide. They should be extremely important. Battleship Class Weapons. Some Battleship front sections will be repurposed for an XL size weapon slot. There are currently four ship sizes but only three sizes to weapons, creating an imbalance. Also, Battleships should have fewer small weapon slots and have to rely on screens of smaller ships. Fleet Combat Mechanics: Formations and/or more complex ship behavior is needed. Mid-game scripted content: Guarded “treasures”, mid-game crises, colony events, etc. Living Solar Systems: Little civilian ships moving around, etc.

Me too, but as Paradox has said - compared to their other titles, it's a bit 'bareboned' at the moment. Which means it's got flavor coming out the wazoo of course, but if you're used to Crusader Kings 2 etc it can fell quite a bit shallow after the midgame.

Old thread here. So what's new?

Is that Sean Bean narrating? Didn't know his 'Eddard Stark' dialect was his native one.

Check out the mod After the End... Ironically in CK2, less fair now than a few patches ago- they've introduced something called a 'threat mechanic' to curtail massive player expansion, so now the AI will try to forge alliances to counter you if you're too much of a threat. Sounds good on paper, but it gets a little stupid when the Papacy allies themselves with muslim kings to counter a christian duke. As for Stellaris and EU, less so - but there are some articial mechanics similar to this, not near as stupid as that though or what you know from CIV and the Total War games. For anyone wanting to play Crusader Kings 2, but don't know where to start- I can strongly recommend rolling back to the 2.45 patch (via beta in steam) and just play as a duke under an emperor, you learn all you need to in a safe enough enviroment, while not being threatned by the big boys.

First game I've preordered ever, but then I really like Pdx games so... It's fantastic to see them attempt sci fi grand strategy, as it is a genre that have been lacking a good open emergent game, most other developers seem to saddle their games with this mediocre story revolving around their 6 only races, instead of customizable and random aliens.

True... It's ironic swedes are behind the Battlefield series as they've been very absent from all wars in the last 200 years.

Yes, very similar to Red Orchestra, but my buddy tells me the last few updates have made it very arcade oriented- basically you have to keep moving.
-
That would be a very safe bet, judging by the trailer.. If you want WW1 I can recommend Verdun

Probalby dual class, Favored Soul or could be a Bard with a few good scrolls.

On the bright side it introduced a lot of people to the Ender books, myself included - but yeah, I wish most screen writers were simply better at understanding what actually works on the screen. You can convey progression much more intuitively on film, as we can 'digest' visual clues a lot faster than written words - it's like they don't understand the medium they are writing for, you can't have the slow paced story of a book, played out over a few independent scenes, the whole causality becomes disjointed and you ruin the flow. But showing Ender spend years, growing up and earning respect could have been done with a 5 minute properly made montage..
