judging by online propaganda Wahhabists want a holy war in Syria and are hoping for Muslim procecutions in Europe. Which will bring about the end of times and a new dawn of religious rule.. If they succede in their insane plan, sparking a religious/race war, I fear we'll see a repeat of 1918-1945

It seems some of the more disturbing elements are clamouring for a civil war.. Looks like they may get their wish, although I think not the outcome they want.

This funny little place where we literally alienate people we disagree with.

May be if they had a little more of that military hardware that you and Obola say they shouldn't have, a few more would've survived in Dallas. It's funny how you guys always ask for just a little bit more opression. Yet the more you get, the more terror there is.. Strange coincidence.
-
So it turns out the guy was another war veteran.. like in the other shooting. I suppose, by the logic of many here- that this should put all veterans under scrutiny right?

He's not a moron, as some would undoubtedly claim, so in that sense sure more intelligent than many think.. But I gotta say that his actions does not point to great or even above average intelligence as Pidesco point out, most of what he touches fails him, but he's a great liar/bull****ter though and a very charismatic speaker. I'd rather say that he's a natural socializer and very instinctively adept at steering a conversation.. In a different life I'm sure he would've made an excellent interviewer. Reminiscent of the Kennedy/Nixon debate, where anyone who saw it said Kennedy won (due to on screen charisma) and anyone who only heard it said Nixon won (due to stronger verbal argumentation).

The Weird, Random, and Interesting things that Fit Nowhere Else Thread

So due to a funny clause, Denmark will be presented with the opportunity to buy back the West Indian Islands next year (st Thomas and st. Jan).. Here's the check America wrote 99 years ago.. -
Is exactly the question we should be asking. Sure 'Islam' will pop up- and should be adressed- as 'communist' or 'liberal' did back in the day or 'Christian' if we go back a little further.. but seeing as clamping down back then didn't work at all, perhaps we shouldn't stop asking when we hit the first label...
-
Sigh, if that's what you took from what I wrote then I don't really know what to say. How is it victim blaming to say that we as a society must meet this with responsibility and measure? To be equally polemic.. You think people just go mad when they convert to Islam? That the red mist descends and all reason abandon them and they are compelled to mass murder? Perhaps the answer then is simply carpet bombing everyone with 'the wrong religion' - preferably with drones right? .. But yes, I blame you and me for this... For the fact that when it happens we bicker like idiots..
-
^ Last refuge of the unimaginative indeed... How did we historically deal with religious extremism here in Europe? How did we deal with the IRA and the religious infighting in Ireland (oh how quick people forget about the old terrorists when the new arrive) I guess we could just have carpet bombed all of them. Did we learn nothing from the peace of Westphalia? .. or well I suppose we learned all to well didn't we...

Of course... It will always be the safer bet to improve the condition of the many over the condition of the few. We are defined by that action.. since before the dawn of civilization, when we went out of that cave to find food for our family and friends, knowing that it might well kill us... No, see people died and paid with their lives, finances and general security of an uncertain amount of time- in the hope that you would one day be able to exercise the right to complain and debate all you want. Edit: Even for those they didn't like and disagreed with - but sure, should the day come, when these boogeymen you speak of are as numerous as you think, I will be right there with you on the barricade. It's just that I know them and they don't want your kids in burkas.

Then let's exaggerate for effect.. Even if we took in 40 million- we are still 700 million people in Europe. They are a single drop in the ocean of mankind... Stop being afraid of numbers and go talk to people.

I have to say it's even more disheartening to see so many voices- and many more each time- join in on the fear chorus.. even on this board. Europe took in a huge amount of Muslims a little over 30 years ago- in the beginning they were over represented in the criminal statistic, there was violence, there were problems, most of them traumatized from horrendous experiences - but local governments, businesses and people decided to help them out and so the violence and problems started to fade.. and now they are no longer over represented in criminal statistics, they're good neighbors, boy/girlfriends, coworkers.. and still very much Muslims. Only difference, they were from Balkan.. But I guess those are the 'good kind'? I'm worried because I live in a multicultural neighborhood with friends of all creeds and colours - and I see them getting more and more radicalized, more and more insular and more and more fearful of what us natives are gonna do- that fear doesn't stem from hateful imams though, but from constantly seeing that look on everyone's face.. That fearful look they get just by walking down the street. That look is killing them and their response is to slowly pull away- and the weakest of them find solace in the worst of places. There are huge problems we need to address, but pretending that we are not all responsible for what's going on and jumping on the blame-train is extremely irresponsible and dangerous... I'm gonna quote numbers here, because a lot of you need to read this a second time...

I fear we're all underestimating the rapidly growing discontent of the western middle class with the status quo.. To the point that I fear both Trump and Le Pen have a very real chance to win in their respective elections.

Old Thread Here. Returned from an 11 day trip to Poland, which was awesome- I was there in 1990 and 1999 as well - and things are definitely looking up for the country (at least the people look a lot happier)

Sorry to hear that for both of you.. And on that note we end this thread - and continue here.

American culture is a bit like Dutch, a mix of everything to the point that everyone can find it familiar.

True and even 20 hours in I was still loving it - seeing that loser Uruk that took a lucky killing potshot at you, rise the ranks (if you don't kill him of course) is great fun.. And their banter is really contextually reactive as well. Saw this one captain fight a Graug, decided to kill 'em both d he was all "I can take you both on ****!"

Shadows of Mordor- great fun.. It has stolen everything from Batman and Assassins Creed/Farcry and it works very well.. Horrible ending though

All who would confirm are dead though, those who can and are alive won't.

She indirectly killed all of their kids - I imagine he's ready to kill her (what with the prophecy that's she'll die by the hand of her younger brother). As it stands the Lannisters and the Starks are the only major houses still standing. It seems George and the series writers wanted a 'clean slate' for Dany's arrival.

A little cross refence joke to Overwatch... (heavy spoiler) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCLLShlmmSM

That was always obvious I thought, the only time it really annoyed me was with Littlefinger, because he clearly travelled way too fast.. Especially with the army of The Vale.

Haha yeah - He had a surprisingly good dialect .. (edit: so it turns out that was dubbed) For those who don't know, the librarian that Sam met was a Danish comedian - it was a little.. strange.. to see him in a serious role. Especially when this is how you "normally" see him vs Apperantly the writers of the show were fans of Hvam's comedy show "Clown"..

I realize this is a hard topic not to derail with everyone's all time favorite subject "How Muslims are the reason for everything bad in the world" ... But let's try shall we?
