Old thread here. True. I still haven't completed a single raid yet. SteamWorld Dig is really excellent. The follow up, SteamWorld Heist, is also a really good game, albeit a completely different type of game that only shares the setting with its predecessor. That looks interesting. Can't remember any devs doing something like that since the late 90's. Will check it out, thanks!

Reasons for (dis)liking a class
Rosbjerg replied to hrwd's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Nothing prevents you from being Honest and Rational as well with a Bleak Walkers, I had a playthrough doing exactly that - and it went perfectly well with Cruel and Aggressive. Dispositions are also more reputation markers than personality indicators any way. -
I think I've played Gekokujo for ~200 hours haha - it's almost perfect as of 3.0+, except for the fact that waaay to many bandits have guns. but agreed, it's how Warband was made to be played, that or as a Viking in a shieldwall- so when you're used to the combat and gameplay and want a harder challenge, try out Brytenwalda (or the official expansion Viking Conquest). Brutal fun.

Games you want that'll likely never exist
Rosbjerg replied to Barothmuk's topic in Computer and Console
I don't really think Alpha Centauri needs a remake - it's still very playable. But a sequel, spiritual or otherwise, would be interesting. Would love a Civ game that evolves into AC, where you continue playing etc. Like Test of Time did. -
It's a fairly chaotic show, in which they didn't know exactly where they were going (the Lost comparison is unfortunately pretty apt) - but it's still a great run.

15 years... Back when I was in Highschool and felt the world as I knew it was about to end, it certainly did in many cases- but most importantly it didn't in so many others.

Are you rewatching? Because otherwise I won't spoil too much. I think though that it's roughly a retelling of the Jewish exodus mixed with the story of Christianity's spread at the expense of the older religions. So their god is not only very similar, it is implied He is the same (pre-jesus at least). Which is also why He is so vain and vengeful against those who worship false idols.

They're almost immmune to radiation, so a glowing planet is of little concern- and even so, they have eternity, waiting 200 or a thousand years is nothing. But it is revealed during the show that the annihilation was not a unanimous descision, but rather something forced through, when Hawkish elements within their collective took over. Which is why they later tried forced coexistence when the more peaceminded gained majority. And they believe they are Nietzschen übermensch, elevated above such petty concerns as human morality.

Do you really want to? Shivans would lose their mystique in a sequel I wager True, a modern sequel would probably suck. Volition also shifted towards making less than serious games now. Question is if they could handle grimdark without making it cheesy.

So they're to blame for the fact that haven't seen a Freespace3? Good riddance then..
-
Nay, it'll be released as a standalone, they're too greedy not to do it. In the meantime, I'm sure there must be interesting shooters made with a little more love?

Hmm I actually thought it was one of the more refreshing settings in the last 10 years or so- the idea of a religion being build around opposition to the literal man made personification of the divine, instead of praising the creator, was pretty cool imo.. Also the whole animalistic mysticism, with whales being sort of vessels for the void - and man's industrial revolution based on the exploitation of that.. I don't know, it was a lot more thought out than what I often see in games..

They did the original extremely well imo - it's fun to both play as high chaos lethal and blinking stealth.

So this is from June, but I couldn't find any post about it. Looks like Dishonered 2 is shaping up to be pretty bad ass. I especially like the sequence from 14:40, creative approach. So am I and most of the games from that time could be applied the same criticism- there were a small handful of very creative and very groundbreaking games, which all spawned an endless stream of copies.. Sure Doom was awesome - but was Redneck Rampage? Not much has changed, the scale just got bigger.

We live in a quality golden age.. There's so much good content out there that it's physically impossible to play it all. Of course there's also a lot of ****.. But throw most of the current EA/Ubi/SQ AAA game to the late 90s consumer and they would call it a masterpiece. It's just that we are getting a little saturated, like the movie industry.

Pictures of your Games Episode VIII The Fast - The Picturesque
Rosbjerg replied to Rosbjerg's topic in Computer and Console
It's interesting how similar Fallout 4's graphics are to Dishonered- the almost painted palette with the dust effects - even though it's 2 different engines. Dd they ever say they were inspired by Arkane's approach? It certainly seems so. -
Danish laws are very different from Sweden's on this regard - to the point where most here think they are insane to have expanded the definition so much. With high numbers before immigration as well. Interestingly I think it would be more telling to look at the socio-economic background for many of these crimes.. Are well to average educated immigrants also over represented? Statistics here say no, but I don't know about Sweden. But yeah we generally think they're too PC as well- but I don't see that as the future of Europe, quite the contrary. It seems we're running down the 'ol fascist route again with curtailing of civil liberties and more and more power concentrated in the hands of the morally inept.
