Summoner Class
injurai replied to Squeedlyspooch1's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS) Chanter can basically summon stuff but it's not necessary just summoning IMO. To me chanters magic comes from chanting phrases. It can focus on buffs, debuffs, dispell, offensive magic and i think literally anything if you asked me. Yeah, but when are summoners just summoners and not something more.

Whats the Chance we reach all the stretchsgoals ?
injurai replied to CaesarCzech's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)You want to know the actual chance? Hire a statistician. Even if it looks good, that doesn't mean it will happen. Promote the game, spread the word about slacker backing, spread the word that we could still reach stretch goals. Hope for the best.

What kind of intelligent weapon do you want to have?
injurai replied to Madscientist's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Having a few lines of light humor does not mean it has to be rampant or frequent. Honestly I think talking weapons is sort of immersion break in and of itself.

Stretch goal discussion!
injurai replied to TheisEjsing's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)+1 Though I was kind of hoping Kraken and Polpovir would be in by default, rather than by a stretch goal. Especially given the official art

So who is working on the game?
injurai replied to Flouride's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I don't like how CDPR is doing especially with the Witcher franchise. Sure they earn a truckload of cash but the game was casualized badly and I don't want to see PoE heading that direction You think? I don't think it was particularly "harder core" in it's earlier entries. So I don't really understand what you mean by casualized. If you were talking about Dragon Age or Mass Effect I would know what you mean. Not sure if you're a fan of Deus Ex (OG) but I thought that was properly "core" (ugh I am merely at a lose of good words to choose from, but you know what I mean.) I'm pretty excited to have something cyberpunk that draws upon an actual pnp game. If I recall in an interview with the founder. He said he only cares about making games that are rpgs first, and is only happy that they are able to reach a wide market and be profitable. But I only made the comparison to elicit the sort of hope I have for Obsidian's financial future. I'd love for them to be able to own an ip that get's to see AAA production values.

That's one ugly boat
injurai replied to PrimeJunta's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Nope, definetly Japanese, and devs even confirmed it somewhere, don't remember where now. I think they mentioned Ainu people's clothing as an inspiration. I can see the ornament resemblance here. And that footwear definitely looks Japanese too. I believe those sandals are called waraji. Clothes alone, of course do not mean everything else, like culture for example, are based on Japan. But seems fitting to assume that their ships look Asian. Wow, I was sure Maia was Chinese inspired. I was familiar with the Ainu but the didn't come to mind. This is fantastic. Also this is more interesting than just solely drawing off of mainline Muromachi and Edo period Japan.

So who is working on the game?
injurai replied to Flouride's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)It'd be nice if they could eventually self fund a multiplatform rpg. Something to go toe-to-toe with CDPR and Bioware. If they focus on saving profts from PoE and using kickstarter to fund the PoE games. They could launch another self-owned ip that could reach more people and rake in more revenues. I think that is partially what they are hoping to achieve. So they don't want to use all their PoE profts on such a niche market, even though that's where their most dedicated audience is. The average consumer just buys what looks neat, instead of following the output of their favorite industry talent.

So who is working on the game?
injurai replied to Flouride's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)The Pillars II team certainly isn't funded on Fig funds alone. They are using the profits from Pillars I. The game has already been in development for at least a year now. But the kickstarter not only allows them a way to get feedback on development from the community, but to offset the risk of development.

Stretch goal discussion!
injurai replied to TheisEjsing's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Pure. Number theory to be precise. Hah! Well I tend to think the latter. I just liked the sound of "invent maths" as a silly way of describing what I do. That said, there's a nonzero chance that anything I do is wrong, in which case you might describe it as inventing maths. In other news, the campaign just finished and they cleared 400%. Not bad eh? 500k+ to clear. Easy Peasy. Im learning about set theory and axiom of choice now. Im a layman so dont get any fancy ideas haha. Wikis are just soo damn interesting sometimes you learn sh*t youll never need hahaha Set theory? Bah! Type Theory is where its at!
