  1. Pale elf, obsessed with death. A little on-the-nose, no? At this point everything has been done before. Imo she doesn't actually come across goth at all. Blue skin, okay. But she's dressed rather posh. Her affinity to corpses can be not to unlike Leonardo Da Vinci's fascination with studying the muscular form of human bodies. It all depends on how she's written.
  2. Well, BG was also the hot thing back then. Now crpgs are a bit more niche, there budgets lessened. The frontier is elsewhere. Different standards, different budgets. A combination of a lot of things.
  3. Maybe they will move her down after the campaign has been over a bit, and the pledges start to fall off. But as I said earlier. She makes for the perfect carrot on a stick at the moment. They want as much funding as they can net. So patience and do whatever part you can muster. Spread the word if its all you can do.
  4. dunno. inexplicably clumsy, comic bad at cooking and your younger sister from a past life? got glasses-girl scientist already, so the anime clichés is gonna spontaneous develop like cancer if you let 'em. there is innumerable options to do poorly. is easy to do bad. HA! Good Fun! Yeah, didn't mean that so literally. But those glasses do have me a bit worried as to the tropes that lie ahead. Back anime back, away from my western rpg!
  5. Manic pixie is the one way to commit character assassination on Ydwin.
  6. You mean like these? http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/83241-translations-mods/ Ah, lovely. Glad this already exists.
  7. So she basically became nouveau riche when pursing an academic life, so she isn't so much eccentric but a walking faux pas. The friction basically caused her to turn away from a formal career, and now the watchers provides are bountiful opertunity for her to still make it big as an animancer outside of the typical channels. I like it.
  8. Yeah, I really like Maia's premise. I just wasn't all that into rangers as they were in PoE1. I actually re-rolled away from one into a cipher because I wasn't enjoying the early game with one. Then Sagani never really grew on me as a party member. Her story was alright, but I just felt I didn't really desire her class role as much as picking up say a druid or paladin. Hoping I like rangers a bit more, or that multi-classing solves everything.
  9. Obsidian should make a repository on github that holds translated text, that the communities can support. Fill in pull requests to fix typos or improve the translation. Maybe the could release a tool that will side-patch the text with the most recent version in the repo.
  10. Given what we know about Ydwin, I don't expect her to be that critical of some of the watcher's grayer actions. The impression I get though is that she is somewhat single-minded. At least in her professional pursuits. Seems like she wants to operate as an independent animancer. She has to stealth around because she doesn't have the conventional means to operate. Maybe she is not all that eccentric as a personality, but she is estranged relative to the cultures she finds herself surrounded by. Always subverting the status quo. Maybe less critical of others, but highly academically argumentative when challenged on her own pursuits.
  11. 1. Ydwin 2. Takehu 3. Maia Rua 4. Serafin 5. Xoti --- 6. Bonteru 7. Rekke 8. Radora I'm also considering classes a bit with this list. I'm not sure I'm a big ranger fan, but Maia just seems awesome. Plus I think her story will be fascinating. Curious if she and Takehu have a history.
  12. You only have to pre-load every scene in which you have an active potential transition. You could even stream the data based on your locality to a particular transition. Example being in a big city, you don't need to keep buildings on the other side of the map in memory. So you probably don't even need to load an entire dungeon. But given that we no longer have the Endless Paths, it's probably not that big of a concern to load a whole dungeon anyways.
  13. This might be the reality. Even the strong premise, it doesn't mean it's contingent with what Obsidian plans to accomplish with the other earlier planned companions. But I'm sure they will do her justice regardless. PoE1 went through some companion iterations before we got the final roster.
  14. Kana grew on me. I liked that he was scholarly. Always seemed like a level head. He might have been underdeveloped but his connection with the Endless Paths makes him all the more interesting. Considering both his interest in this mysterious place, and what we now know about it and it's place in relation to the main path.
  15. Chanter and ??? Where ??? might not be an additional "potential level one choice" but will always be potential level two multiclass choice.
  16. I really like this idea. Ydwin trying to study you on your journey together.
  17. The Aumaua Godlike is named Takehu or something to that extent. We've only heard his name spoken.
  18. Maybe the 4.5 and 4.75 goals will be really worth it. Enough to string people all the way to 5m. I think an 8th companion is worth it alone, but... it helps to have some goodies along the way. At least we can technically fund her after the fig campaign is over.
  19. I didn't know people liked PoE around these parts.
  20. Or maybe she has to be light on her feet because animancers aren't exactly welcome in this world. She has to sneak around to conduct her research. It sounds like she is an independent animancers as opposed to a state animancer. She has to sneak around to examine corpses etc.
  21. The true treasure was the friendship you formed along your journey.
  22. As of now I think the Orlan is the least interesting of the new companions. Maia has ties with Kana. The Godlike could be really interesting. Yeah, it's a shame we might not get Ydwin. What am I saying! Have faith! We must get her.
  23. Fulvano uses an A* sweep pattern to explore the world.
  24. I mean, it's sort of like that. It's certainly true that if you touch it correctly it discharges energetic projectiles. That's assuming it's already primed. Sometimes it needs a blow. And you gotta make sure the ramrod gets in nice and deep. This is the wrong analogy... ouch
  25. I thought it was basically for any "zone" the buildings within it wouldn't break out into a load to transition. Which basically means the whole thing is loaded, then they just change what gets drawn on screen.
