  1. The only thing worth noting about random drops is that a very rare item - Gloves of Manipulation (+1 DEX, +2 Mechanics) are dropped on second day of the month in Raedric Hold's main floor in lord's personal quarters. Everything else drops quite frequently in many places.
  2. Ok, if we can have infinite amount of heavy armors and weapons in the stash then why on earth are we allowed to carry only 4 camping supplies? Is it not degenerative gameplay to go back and forth to some merchant to buy more of those?
  3. Heh, playing this game again and I still can't put down nor this portrait, nor wood elf rogue protagonist: Guess, I'm stuck with this canon just like I'm in Baldur's Gate with this half-elf guy:
  4. This bug is till not fixed. Just got it in 3.01.
  5. I agree with the review in general, the game is certainly lacking in many aspects, but I'm not sure that the problem lies solely on bad creative decisions. In devs defense, I think that with what meager kickstarter budget Obsidian had, they've managed to do a pretty decent job, all sacrifices considered, the game still came out as quite enjoyable. So I hope that devs will gather enough coin to improve the game and make a sequel that will be a proper BG2 spiritual successor we've all been waiting for.
  6. Resting supplies limit is lacking any logical explanation considering you can carry an unlimited amount of items in your stash.
  7. Well, that depends on the player, the one I use recognizes it (WinAmp). If yours doesn't you probbly need to install some additional codecs.
  8. Guys, you do realize that all ingame music is stored in one of the game's folders with .ogg extention, right? That track is there as well. Not sure why it wasn't included in the official ost though, it's one of the most beautiful ones.
  9. I thought about choosing Hylea's option until I remembered those Wicht monsters in the woods and Eder's story about a neighbour's hollowborn daughter who ate her brother and later was chained and watered like an animal. Giving souls back to these damaged undeveloped creatures? No, thanks. Even Grieving Mother agrees that'd be a cruel thing to do not only to them, but to the parents as well. I'd rather choose the natural cycle of Berath that restores order and grants many families healthy newborn twins to make up for lost children. Or at least Galawain's choice that strengthens the souls of Dyrwoodans.
  10. I'm not sure if it was patched, but on my playthrough I did 2 quests for the Dozens and 1 for the Kinights of the Crucible before duc's assassination, and then in act III I returned to the city and took and completed the 2nd quest for the Knights. I'd have tried doing all 3 factions quests but Doemnels were sending assassins at me so I killed the lot of them. So it seems (unless it was patched) it is possible to do all quests for all factions, but they have to be taken in a certain order.
  11. Nah, it won't - I killed the lot of them after they started sending assassins after me. You get an overwhelmingly bad rep with Doemnel faction and that's it.
  12. Souls game are horrible with "exposition" in my opinion. I played all 3 of them, and I have very little understanding of the lore, and very very little memory of it. And the games never made me care about any of it. You should see those crazy threads about DS lore where ppl are gathering astounding amount of it from ingame items and sparse npcs dialogues. But it was just an example of a different exposition style, personally I prefer games where it is assumed that your character knows the world he lives in and lore unpervasively is in the background.
  13. Hey, we're in the same boat here, pal! I too started digging through all those 2nd edition FR and Planescape setting books after playing BG and PS:T respectively. Personally, old Planescape setting is my favourite - it's so amazingly bizzare and well thought out, and it ties all other AD&D settings together like mortar. Numenera setting from what setting books I've read has the same crazy vibe so I have high hopes for new Torment.
  14. Yea, BG companions, or FR setting didn't need exposition - you could just dive into the game and feel at home. PoE on the other hand being a new setting is way too self-absorbed with its own lore. Even most of the companions dialogue is about the setting exposition, that's why I can't say I find any of them memorable. But I suppose it's understandable for a new franchise, but I hope sequel will treat setting lore differently. For example, Dark Souls series is a quite lore heavy game, but in a "less is more" manner that doesn't stuff lore exposition in your face all the time, but makes intrigued gamers brimming with heavy questions about it.
  15. As a player who played EE versions of BG series and IWD just recently I can tell you it's not nostalgia, they're just that bloody good and worthy of occasional replays. Still not sure about PoE replayability though. THIS. So many times over. I confess I have put my latest BG1:EE all the way through to ToB (I never actually had ToB back in the day) on hold whilst I play PoE. They are waiting on Shandalar's Ice Island, where time means nothing... I put my recent playthrough of BG2 on hold for PoE. I could not disagree with you more strongly. I found Jan Jansen the most annoying little bugger on the face of Faerun. I sometimes murder him just because. Keldorn, on the other hand, is just boring to me. Minsc, though, is one of my favorite charcters in any RPG ever. I usually run with Viconia, Minsc, Jaheira, Yoshimo for the first half (replaced by Imoen) and often Aerie (even though I loathe her almost as much as Jan). I found the storyline compelling, the dream sequences riveting, and Irenicus a fascinating image of a sympathetic villain who is no less villainous for being so tragic. In short, I *really* love the writing in BG2. Lol, the fact that so many gamers still remember BG companions even to this day is also a testament to their awesomness. I'm still waiting in vain for BioWare to make a better set of companions and better romances. PoE companions while amusing at times are nothing to write home about, unfortunately. I hope they will be more developed in the sequel, their endings reactivity is a good step in that direction.
  16. Imho, EE versions allow for a better transition on modern widescreen pc systems without the need for numerous mods and that's it, but that's not the point of my earlier post. The point is that the games themselves underneath all that EE polish are still awesome and very much playable even to this day.

  18. If the story has a "love to hate" villain whom you just gotta put down for all the trouble he brought you personally - it's a good story. And that son of a bitch Irenicus is still one of the best in my books. And Bioware always knows how make the journey more interesting with memorable companions. So, yes, BG series is still one of the best rpgs out there and I can't take trolls who hate on it seriously. After playing PoE I've high hopes for the sequel, because for me it felt like less refined BG1 with a promise of vast improvements of BG2.
  19. Avellone's npcs were the most interesting ones, imho. I've high hopes for his companion in Torment: Tides of Numenera.
  20. I've completed all the Stronghold upgrades and yet there's no Steam achievement for that. And judging by global stats nobody has it yet, which means it's most probably bugged: http://steamcommunity.com/stats/291650/achievements
  21. I don't know about chessing but Adra Dragon in my fight was moping the floor all the time because of all the Slickens and other prone inducing abilties\spells my party bombarded her with. I think Obsidian's gonna nerf those, they're just too op.
  22. I like the damage output of a ranged rogue, it's ridiculously good.
  23. Could people actually list those silly names? <_< I mean none of the names particularly sticked out to me as silly.... Alll those that are very inconsistent with the ordinary game world npcs names. And that's like most of them.
  24. There's no reason to read the tombstones and I've stopped soulreading yellow backer npcs that are practiaclly littering the game world after Gilded Vale. But most of their silly names are still bugging me by breaking immersion when I use Tab highlighting. I hope that if Obisidan goes for another kickstarter backed project they will think of something less pervasive and more localized location wise, like that giant kickstarter tree in the woods in D:OS, for example.
