  1. Merchants should definitely have top tier items in certain cases, however, their super stock shouldn't be readily available early in the game or linked to dumb pre-order bonuses (hi NWN2/BG2) and they need to be priced appropriately (i'm against of being able to BUY EVERYTHING in one playthough. You should have to make tough decisions with your money and maybe be forced to pawn off a useful item to actually afford something good). Being able to to buy the Robe of Vecna within 30 minutes and then never taking it off was really, really dumb. An update mentioned special merchants being available through the Stronghold under certain circumstances and I'm down with that and other special requirements/decisions/quests that will open up potential gear through merchants. What I'm against is making merchants meaningless as many of you are suggesting. If they are just there with limited gold and no worthwhile stock so my adventure Baron has to merchant hop to sell his useless crap then whats the point? It just becomes silly busy work. When you say Elder Scrolls I really hope you don't mean Skyrim where they were absolutely meaningless and you can craft any item into god tier essentially making looting/buying anything pointless.
  2. What if they die off early? Definitely rolling path of the damned/Ironman first playthrough so the Adventurers Hall will be most likely essential to preserve the story bros until I can twink them out in absurd gear . Not to mention, there will probably be a few NPCs that are annoying (read: Grobnar/Neeshka) with weird/inferior builds that will bug the hell out of me if I'm running a theme party. With a thriving stronghold up and running hopefully party shuffling will be viable. One of the things hated about BG2 was being stuck with the same crew for two long-ass chapters.
  3. Reading the stronghold update gave me more enjoyment than D3 ever did. Were you addicted to the AH or something? I don't even, your posts continue to baffle me.
  4. I'm fine with no multi-classing but hope we get a prestige class-like system in the expansion/sequel.
  5. Depends on the stronghold content. It would be cool to hire out adventure hall rookies for Keep Security and then take them out for some 'exploratory dungeon diving' once they gained a bit of experience on the job as a final test. It'll be like Xcom, but in Dyrwood.
  6. Don't want: Durlag's Borefest. Watcher's Keep wasn't much better. Want: TOEE. Non-linearity (entrances and quests/story) especially.
  7. Submitted a ticket, but not only is my KS badge not showing up. The additional funds I added two weeks ago aren't showing up on the main backer portal page.
  8. ... Unless disabling traps doesn't provide free XP. And infinitely? Really? How ever did you even bring yourself to play a game with traps in it, if traps made it infinitely less enjoyable? You'd think that would make it the absolute least enjoyable game ever. Or, you know... at least tied in last place with every other trap-bearing game there is. . I was talking about the BG series specifically where you spend more game time searching for traps than actually fighting things. It's quite a grating system when you reflect on how stupid it is.. but I never implied PE should get rid of traps.
  9. Although it does have a 77% "yes" rate, this is only from the hard core fan base, that regularly come to the forums to check for updates. Only about 1,700 ppl voted here, while the initial kickstarter had 73,986 backers. That is more than enough sample size. The game is going to sell more than 80k copies so those backers are pretty the much the 'hardcore' anyway. Voting on a poll in the forums doesn't make you a hardcore fan. Putting down money 2 years in advance does.
  10. Pretty much the only way I can finish BG/BG2 again these days. And really, by taking them out it just makes the game a tad bit harder with less free xp and infinitely more enjoyable.
  11. Muscle gishish wizard. Probably godlike depending on bonuses.
  12. It makes it a mediocre game... and what specific audience would that be? Those very fans backed the game and are just as disappointed unless you're claiming W2's reception has been positive. When you look at what Expedition: Conquistador dudes did with with 80k~ you wonder what the **** Fargo did with all that money. Have much more faith in Obsidian delivering though as they have proven themselves over the past 10+ years. Inxile however has yet to release an actual good game while profiting on people's nostalgia.
  13. RPGcodex has plenty of great things to say about it!
  14. Don't get greedy now. 2014 is going to be a huge ****ing year for cRPGs.
  15. More worried about ludicrously overpowered hand placed stuff easily obtained within the first 30min of the game. Christ, do I hate that.
  16. Interplay as an incompetent actor needs some of the blame here.
  17. Carsomyr was really lame. But I'm totally in for upgrade-able hand placed stuff, but the cost needs to be insane so you have to pick and choose what your character will invest in. Uber Urist-Mcsmith should be able to upgrade most weapons though, rather than just a select overpowered few (see: FOA).
  18. ^^ Badass dude on the horse there is definitely balling. Thanks for the wallpaper Karranthain.
  19. But it's not your only choice. You can continue on with that injured party member. Alternatively, you could have prepared yourself better before the encounter and/or made better tactical decisions during said encounter. In 99% of every other game you would just chug a potion/cast heal and continue on. Fun!
