  1. I think this is an excellent point. To me is seems like a lot of this games mechanics are being based solely on how to prevent people from doing this or that. We dont like "rest scumming": put in a system that forces you to rest in only certain locations, We dont like "ability / spell casting scumming": put in cooldowns, We dont like players "level scumming": put in quest based experience, We dont like players "topping off before battles scumming", see "rest scumming" and "ability scumming". So much energy is being funneled into forcing the players to play only one way. Im not even particulalry opposed to new mechanics, just mechanics that sound like their only purpose is to harsh my buzz. I just dont want everything to be a hassle, I want to have fun.
  2. So restorative magic is only available outside of combat but restorative abilities are available inside combat? I assume then that all classes will have some restorative ability inside combat?
  3. I didnt get it either. So if you get to 0 stamina and pass out, then what? You continue to lose "health" just lying there? Or if someone comes over and kicks you while youre down you will lose health? I too am a little bummed that everything is starting to sound like work. I may or may not have to wait for abilities to come off cooldown? Maybe sleep will fast forward that? And now little to no healing? Meh.
  4. If the quote in the OP is taken as literal, is looks like higher level spells will be a "per-rest" resourse (thank god). With that in mind we can probably extrapolate that there wont be too many resting restrictions otherwise whole spell levels could be on lockout after a particularly hard fight. Using the above example (level 10 / 3 level five spells) it would be very easly to lock out that whole level in one fight.
  5. Wheres the new picture of the megadungeon?
  6. Per Raithe, hes busy with work.
  7. Im playing the vanilla GoG version so Im not sure if any patches are included. I havent downloaded anything externally.
  8. Caved to the pressure and started Arcanum for the first time ever. Doesnt seem to have aged well as it looks terrible on my widescreen but I noticed in the "lets play" thread that his looked much better so I assume there is a widescreen mod I can download. Character creation is good, lots of choices. I ended up picking a human with no special traits. Bought some gear, entered the game. I dont care much for the UI but its serviceable. Got to the crash site, met the monk and walked over to the shrine. Walked 10 more feet and got one shot by a wolf, game over. Realized I had not saved and seemingly no autosave occured after character creation so I have to start the whole thing over. Meh.
  9. In matters of evolution vs religon and abortion vs right to choose, Republican hands are tied. Long ago they hitched their horse to that wagon and theres no coming back on those two matters. Thats where their voter base lies and ever flopping on either of those stances whould cause a mass exodus of their constituents. And theres a lot of people that support those stances.
  10. Wouldnt a failed pickpocket be evident by the fact that you didnt get anything off the person? Or are you saying it would be played off as if the target of the pickpocket didnt have anything on them to steal?
  11. Im probably the exception to the rule but I like being able to save and reload at will. See, I prefer to have every party member survive every fight so everyone stays on roughly the same level. You dont earn experience face down on the dungeon floor. For example, my first run through BG2 I was able to drop Firkraag on the 3rd try but a few party members died. So it took me maybe 8-10 more tries before everyone lived. Similar situaltion on Demogorgon, etc... Just a personal preference I know. Id like to know whats to be lost allowing players to do that? I see a lot of you say things like; "resting/saving between battles breaks the developers intended difficulty". Really? Do you think the developer has taken into account every possible party config and character build and have somehow scaled, for example, the fifth encouter into the dungeon to know that you have blown amount of spells/abilities and therefore these kobalds are only at half power? From my experience every mob has their full repertoire available to them, not some scaled to equal what you may or may not have used at this point abilities.
  12. Ah, about that, people think that Syrian government is attacking Turkey. And they don't think it's accidental. At first, people wanted to believe they were accidental but today when a person open a newspaper page and read, they would see this "8 times can't be an accident." and stuff like that on the titles. They believe, Syria is try and see if Turkey has the heart to attack back or maybe even start up a fight. Most of them at least thinks that way. What would be gained by Syria attacking Turkey?
  13. I meant, who do the people think is attacking Turkey? Syrian government, Kurds, rebels? And why? Accidental? To draw Trukey into a war? Another reason?
  14. Being there, whats the general feeling of the people on who/why mortars are landing in Turkey?
  15. Lord of War Good flick and I always seem to enjoy Cage's movies. (Except for Wicker Man) *shakes fist*
  16. Please try to pay attention between spastic outbursts. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10000872396390443768804578038682267184060.html?mod=googlenews_wsj
  17. @Raktul: Its always interesting to get insight from people actually there. Honestly though, the malfuctioning radar is about as believable as our accidental bombing of the Chinese embassy or their accidental ramming of our sub hunting aircraft.
  18. When did I ever give an opinion on whether I like Turkey or not? I have no opinion on Turkey, good or bad. While we are throwing around wild accusations of terrorism for unknown attacks I could easily use a similar example of a recent border guard that got shot dead in New Mexico. We dont know who killed him, some even suggest it may be friendly fire, but since it was on the border of Mexico it must mean the Mexican goverment has engaged in terrorism against the US and is killing our innocents. Do you think we should carpet bomb Mexico in response? Anywho, my point was that Turkey is seemingly looking for any reason to go overboard. They have used artillary for three days straight on occupied targets to "avenge" a lone mortar attack that blew up some dirt, very possibly by accident. From that we can infer that it would take little to no actual deaths or damage to goad Turkey into a full scale attack on Syria and the Syrian rebels would be letting a golden opportunity pass where they could get Turkey to do what they themselves obviosly cannot do.
  19. Heh, really trying hard huh? 1) You dont know if it was deliberate or accidental. 2) You dont know who really fired it. 3) Nobody was hurt. 4) Turkey, looking for any reason at all responds with artillary fire for three days for a lone, unidetified attack. Oh yeah, they previousy had their warplanes over another countries soverign territory. Wait, whos terrorizing who here? Go ahead and actually read the article. Syria is in a state of civil war for control of the country. They are not exporting "terror" for the sole purpose of advancing their ideology. I suppose I should now couterclaim that France is exporting terrorism by supporting the rebels. You do know those nice rebels have killed a crapton of civilians right? I get your trying to paint me into a corner and yes, I do believe the rebels of a civil war would be stupid to not use tactics that could possibly help them win control of the country.
  20. Mortar lands in Turkish countryside = acts of terror? Mmmkay. I guess the truth is truly the first casualty of war. Theres nothing nice or civilized about war. Turkey is spoiling for a fight and if the rebels can use that to their advantage they would be stupid not to.
  21. The rebels should attack and goad Turkey into the fight on their side.
  22. *sigh* Yes, because the other times they missed him on order of Bush.
