No. Someone at bethesda had a brainfart and just "I know, the FPS combat in our game is the weakest part of it... so lets make an expansion that focuses solely on that!"

Crysis: Warhead is pretty sweet aswell, it runs smoother and it has some nice gameplay tweaks. He's actually kid of indestructible and you dont actually have to carry him, the end of the level will trigger anyway. CryTek didnt want to force the player to do a boring escort thing, but they didnt fully follow through and inform the player about it

Crysis is definently alot more fun if you go in the brave & stupid way. You need to infiltrate that base in the beginning? Steal a car, drive like hell and jump off a dock, kill everyone on the boats, steal boat, use the beach at the base as a giant ramp and fly smack into the base taking a tower and some destructible buildings with you. Chaotic madness and destruction is the way to go :D

I try a new MMO's once a year to see whats happening in the genre but I have never played anything I liked thus far.

Arent they doing the same thing with books? I know there was a big clash here in Sweden when Amazon tried to move in on the publishing bussiness turf.

I just want to pitch in that Lenin had his fair share of people butchered aswell, though nowhere near the Hitler/Stalin scale. It was the usual execution of "enemies of the revolution"/political adversaries, sending people off to 'labour' camps and so on. And there was the thing about intentionally starving a couple of thousand farmers to death.

The esoteric club of gentlemen discussing Bush' mind
Kaftan Barlast replied to Meshugger's topic in Way Off-Topic
I would say that if you look stupid, talk stupid and do stupid things.. you're stupid. And is there anyone here who would seriously disagree that GWB fits that description? -
Excellent news, Better off Ted lives!! :D http://tvbythenumbers.com/2009/05/15/bette...d-renewed/18747 Its easily the funniest show on TV right now, in any part of the world. Proividing you like intelligent comedy without a laughtrack.

The most annoying character of them all was that whiny blue lolita girl. I would rather have done the freaky alien cyborg-lady than her.. yuck. I dont understand, are you talking about more camera angles/modes or something completely different?

How well does Integration of Immigrants work in your country?
Kaftan Barlast replied to Morgoth's topic in Way Off-Topic
I think the situation is more or less the same in all european countries with high immigration. Ghettoes form where immigrants have no chance of becomming a real part of society, leading to poverty, alienation and crime. But I did hear that in Finland, a land with increadibly strict immigration policy, the same ghettoes appear only that theyre filled with poor finns instead of immigrants. Is that really true? -
The inventory was changed in the PC version, so they'll probably use that on ME2 for the 360. I cant remeber what was so bad about it though, it wasnt like RE5 where you cant move weapons to your mate in co-op or have to stand fumbling to mix herbs in the middle of a fight because the game doesnt pause.

Im just going to go out hard and say it, the IE/NWN/KOTOR had pretty bad combat. You should have it full turnbased or actual hands-on realtime control, that kind of half-assed compromise only makes nuts like Volo happy. I really hope DA wont go down that road, it looks terrible enough as it is Maybe it's because I know how the tech works, but the people who complain about the way textures are loaded are friggin' morons. You have two choices, either you see them load, or you can stare at a black loading screen for a couple of seconds instead. Thats your choice, take a pick dumbass. (not you, I meant the typical whiny player who complains about things that arent broken)

With the Unreal3 engine you get the basic mechanics for free, how good you manage to get it just depends on how much resources and time you're willing to spend testing and tweaking it. They have had a lot of time to do just that with ME2, so the question is just how much of an improvement we will see in the end. All Bioware's previous game used the old IE-NWN system of the 6-second round, that was inherently flawed. Trying to get good combat out of that is like trying to make a turd taste like cake, you just cant do it,
-
First off, you guys are complete morons. Just so we're in the clear about that. But regarding the trailer it sounds like they're looking to improve in just the right areas; making the combat faster and more dynamic. It was good in the first game, but not great. Always a bit too slow and unresponsive, and the weapons didnt have any real punch. edit: and it was sweet to see that BioWare are using Mudbox for ME2, not that satanic piece of user-hostile crap Zbrush.

But magic boxes that instantly rejuvenate your health is acceptable? Oh, come on!

I really liked the single player campaign, its not any harder to accept that illusion than to accept that of watching a film. You know its fake and scripted, but its still sweet. ...and we play Cod4 multiplayer ALL THE TIME

Nightshape bagged it, but if that wasnt an option I think Id go watch Jesus to see if he really existed and how songofgod-like he really was. Subtitled, of course since I dont speak ancient arameic.

GRID and DIRT are awesome! No, they're arcade racers with no real driving feel. And GRID is so unrealisticly sped up that you cant play it with a wheel, because you'll break it trying to navigate a chicane at 500mph. ...they're very pretty to look at though p.s Blimey games will rule you with Need for Speed : Shift

When we grow old, I wonder if were going to sit and reminisce about the good old days when the internet existed? Because by then, the entire net might have been replaced by a completely regulated giant iTunes store where users can only consume, never participate. I should write a novel about this, I could call it 2048

I love it when politicians vote on laws without having a clue about how either the law or the technology works. Thats how we Swedes got the brilliant FRA-laws that no one really knew what it was for. Its like corruption out of ignorance. and a fair share of: "These guys from the copyright lobby bought me an all-expenses paid golf trip to St Andrews, and I dont use those computery thingies anyways so.. Im gonna vote yes on this."

Yup, these nasty "open office landscapes" are satans invention. Im serious. What you want is peace & quiet, privacy and space. The last time I had to work in a big office like that, I had to buy these huge expensive sound-dampened headphones so I wouldnt be driven mad. ..but the worst thing is when someone walks in and stands right behind you watching you work. That really pisses me off, especially if they give stupid comments -Cool, you should make the ears bigger, though. -I know, but Im working on the feet now. -You could just make the ears bigger real quick right now. -I will, when Im done with the feet. -Come on, do the ears already. -RAAAAAARGH!!!!! KAFTAN SMASH!!!! *violence*
-
Its hard to focus properly with all the ambient noise of an office in your ears all the time. Drowning it out with music or radio in your headphones is a great relief. Its also good for when you just want some peace and quiet. And maybe they dont feel they have much in common with the other, older workers so they dont want to socialize with them?

BREAKING NEWS: NEW DRAGON AGE GOTY TRAILER
Kaftan Barlast replied to Llyranor's topic in Computer and Console
I think BioWare should have dropped Dragon Age years ago, we've seen enough LotR bullsh*t already in the gaming world. ...though it would be funny if you could be rude and disrespectful to all the uber-serious elves and magical dragons.
