  1. As far as I can tell, it was. Unreal Engine 3 and all. NO it wasn't. There were no jaggies, and the lighting was too perfect. This was prerendered stuff. Nah, Ive worked alot in U3 and that is definently in-engine stuff. Some effects might have been composited in afterwards, but that is not a pre-render. You can see its mid-poly ingame models too, not fancy hires film stuff.
  2. I dont have the patience to wait so I bought the first one, will try it later this evening.
  3. To be fair, compared to my favorite sport Formula 1, baseball is probably quite entertaining. As far as common man is concerned anyway. I personally think things like a pull-rod based rear suspension and fuel weight strategy is quite exciting, but none of my friends do. Football is football, soccer is the name the yankee imperialist pigdogs came up with.
  4. I had a chat with a diabetic friend today, regarding his surpise ambulance ride the other night. Turns out he used the wrong injector, got a massive insulin overdose and passed out. How can you go for years using these injectors and then all of a sudden use the one bright red one marked "DO NOT USE. WILL CAUSE DEATH" ? I suspect he is secretly retarded.
  5. So whats the new game? Werent they supposed to have announced it already?
  6. In Sweden we play 'br
  7. If they say oldschool, they're probably referring to LucasArts 'golden age' of the 1990's which is the period from X-Wing to Grim Fandango. So no republic commando for you! Hah!
  8. Im spending a week or two at a friends place. This particular friend is not of the caucasian persuasion, so Im having a very difficult time trying to not take my usual 100-kilometer leaps over the line of the acceptable.
  9. Who ISNT nervous before doing something in front of people? I have this weird thing that when Im nervous I cant feel it in my head, but it goes straight to the body. So I feel normally focused mentally, but my hands will be shaking and my legs will be spaghetti. Thats not helpful when you try to play an instrument, Im not a good guitarist normally, so onstage I reach entirely new levels of ineptitude
  10. Thats the first thing that popped into my head. It would be pretty sweet. The second one was Indiana Jones.
  11. I like chocolate of all kinds as long as its got +60% cocoa in it, otherwise its more like eating a block of sugary brown fat. ..and swedish salted licorice is horrible, the man who invented it must have had some sort of sensory disorder. Putting salt on licorice is like eating porkchops with jam.
  12. When I have to do something in front of people, my brain just clicks in 'extreme improvisation mode' which usually enables me to pull enough something out of my ass to get away with it. I think its my old class-clown habits that make it possible.
  13. Just walk around enjoying the spectacle, and the more nervous you are before you go onstage, the better it will feel once you're there. What will you be doing by the way? Theatre, musical performance or playing colonel bogeys march with flatulence?
  14. I played City of Villains for two weeks and its without a doubt the most boring and repetitive MMO Ive tried thus far. Customizing the character was lots of fun, but playing the game was about as exciting as doing the dishes (a huge neverending pile of exactly similar plates). It was more of a character creator with a small excuse of a game attached to it.
  15. Im not the only one who hears this retarded "duuuuhh.." voice in my head when I read something thats really poorly written? I get it when I read 'internet-speak' too, when people replace 'you' with u, and so on. edit: And abbreviations are often transformed from 'an' to 'a' in both swedish and english. Its the correct way to do it. So while you say 'a rocket-propelled grenade' you have to change it to 'an RPG' when you abbreviate it. Swede example: 'ett prickskyttegev
  16. Good language skills are not required for admittance here, so even borderline-illiterate people can get in. But it seems like it gets worse with every new batch of freshmen.
  17. You know how people are always racking down on kids for being a step down in quality from the generation before them? Well, it seems that today we have reached the level of degeneration when kids cant even express the most simple things in written text. Today I experienced a disturbing lack of basic language skills with two freshmen at the University. The first one was me asking this guy what object it was that casta reflection in the window of a 3D rendering he had made, he replied (trans) "I dont know about the reflections but it is what you see in the window" -Yes, I know that its a reflection, I was asking what the reflected object is. The second one was a guy who wrote about the Worms "the game worms is defiantly a game play." -Its definently a gameplay? What game doesnt have gameplay? What is this?!!! When did people lose the ability to make sense? And whose fault is this? Bad parents, bad education or just basic stupidity?
  18. This reminds me of the Swedish camping holidays of my youth. Spending all day carsick in a hot car, and every evening in a smelly camping park with nothing to do. Atleast I was lucky enough that we didnt have a caravan, those are plain awful. ( we had a ford transit that dad would modify so we could sleep in it ) This is what summer is like for most of swedens lower-middle-class children:
  19. An island in the south baltic sea, we get the most sun per year in Scandinavia.
  20. Spent an hour in the scorching sun, good thing I bought a pith helmet last year. Ive got the full set of khakis to go with it aswell so Im quite fashionable. But we northerners arent very good with the heat, its quite difficult to do anything but sit around perspirating unless you drink large amounts of strong coffee.
  21. It's absolutely scorching hot here today, couldnt take our usual lunch coffee outside because the chairs were so hot it hurt. I dont understand how people living in hot places like California can function when its like this. Its so hot I can barely think, let alone work. And it will be even hotter in a few hours.
  22. Interesting side note on the WW2 era propaganda cartoons; none of them were actually banned. They were just removed from circulation after the war for obvious reasons. Disney's "Der Fuehrer's Face" apparently even won an oscar for best short animated film in 1942.
  23. No, I wont go near the thing until the clean it up. There is a demo available on Steam, thats what I played. http://store.steampowered.com/app/33920/
  24. A lot of these seem very, very right wing. Funny political cartoons are supposed to be anti-establishment and make fun of everyone, this is just plain propaganda.
  25. I tried Arma2, or "Operation Flashpoint 3" as it would have been called hadnt Bohemia sold the name to Codemasters. It seems to be just like OF except better looking and more polished, the story is probably very good aswell. They're not pulling any punches with the gritty realism either; torture, rape and a mass grave on the first mission alone. But its all screwed up techwise. It's a textbook example om how NOT to use hdr lighting, motion blur and depth-of-field. Add to that a headbob that is so extreme that few players could go 5min without vomiting form severe nausea and disorientation. And in a curious finale of tech weirdness, the game doesnt use antialiasing, instead you set the framebuffer manually to either scale up or down a set resolution. And to top it off, they're using the most satanic DRM ever concieved: FADE. If the game detects the slightest alteration in the installed files or your disc, it will actually destroy the game. It starts by fudging up gameplay settings and then gradually destroys your installation until you cant start the game anymore. Its apparently sensitive enough to go off if the disch becomes scratched or you try to install mods for the game(and you pretty much have to install mods that disable the visual effects to make it playable) Or just that you have a cheap dvd reader that the drm doesnt like... or that you simply have daemontools installed on your computer. So, a great game thats completely ruined by some very dodgy technical decisions. Stay the frakk away until they release a patch that both fixes the graphics and removes the DRM.
