  1. I would like to be called: Empty Husk of the Obsidian Order Thank you.
  2. Barask's Nail Clipper. Barask had been a mighty blue dragon. He suffered from a genetic disorder that caused his nails to grow very quickly. Each time he trimmed or nibbled his nails they would start growing back so, as you can imagine, he spent a lot of time looking after them. This made him very self conscious and he never travelled out much. He became quite depressed. One day a wizard came into his lair in search of his treasure. Barask had noticed him since the wizard first set foot inside the door. The door being one of the surface entrances to an underground prison. As the wizard tiptoed into the former prison hall, the largest space in the building, which served as the dragons nest; Barask hissed at him. "If you would like to make this quick and just jump into my mouth, I would be appreciative of the saving of time." The wizard calmly faced the huge dragon. " My lord, magnificent among beasts and men, I greet you." Barask, a little surprised, smiled an indulgent smile. " Well now. It has been quite some time since I've spoken to a well-mannered human." The two spoke of adventures past. The dragon reminiscing about previous barbarians who disturbed his peace and the wizard, who called himself J'hai, described stories of his journeys in lands very far away. " So J'hai, what brings you to my home?" "I have heard that a fabled amulet, which had once belonged to the elves, had come into your possession. It holds a power which will save my sister from a life-threatening illness." The dragon looked back into his memories." Ah yes. When I first moved in to this home of mine, the little elves greeted me with a warrior band. I had a small meal but I find elves a bit stringy. They never came back but I did find a nice amulet around one of their necks." He dangled it in the air in front of the wizard. "May I have it?" asked J'hai. "Well, my friend, what is in it for me?" " I have heard your story from the descendents of the elves. Your little hygeine problem." He whispered the last bit. " I have created a tool for you to use so that your nails will no longer cause you worry. This tool will work on its own to trim your nails." He opened a bag that had been under his cloak and the clipper floated out, flying towards the dragon and started to trim its nails. The delighted Barask handed over the amulet immediately and the wizard left and so the great red dragon was no longer blue. Use: Barask's nail clipper is shaped like a hoe (the gardeners tool) and can be used by both hands as a two handed weapon aswell as floating on its own. It will only attack the toes of the enemies. Chopping them off in a single hit. (As the wizard had heard of the dragon's depression, he magically made it so the clippers could not be used on more sensitive areas.) - This will cause them to reduce their speed by half and sometimes fall over. On creatures dragon size or larger, it will give them a manicure.
  3. The heart that loved. Anahar was the god of love and the heart. He blessed all beings with the love of the universe. He was radiant and magnificent. Those who saw him saw a picture of the perfect male. This of course was different for each race who viewed him. In seeing him they never felt jealousy or lust, only admiration and love. The gods were harder to convince. His wife, O' Liara, the goddess of roots, permeability and transition, loved him very much. However, her sister, goddess of entropy, Erentis, was insanely jealous of their bond. One night, in a fit of jealous rage, she confronted her sister. O' Liara had expected her and told her that she could not destroy her to reach Anahar. Erentis knew she did not have the power to kill her sister but she didn't have to. She grabbed Zig, her vibrating dagger which was shaped like a lightning bolt, and plunged it into her sister's side. O' Liara exploded into fragments smaller than the human eye could see. Erentis, knowing it would not be long for her sister to reform, removed a piece of her own being to keep O'Liara in a constant fractured state. This became the shattering crow, whos beak was the dagger Zig. It would chase O'Liaras essence and make sure that it could never reform. However, it was prone to distraction and also enjoyed shattering other things for fun such as the golden pin of Heisigger that held together the planes of reality but that is another story. When Anahar realised O' Liara was gone and convinced she was dead, his heart broke. Utterly distraught, he became enraged and vengeful. His appearance changed into that of wildness and fury. A beast. The gods had never been so afraid. He was after blood and he found it. He found Erentis and condemned her for what she had done. Erentis denied everything and using Anahars chaotic energy against him, convinced him that his father had permanently placed her in the earth as part of the natural fabric and never to be a goddess again. Reaching his fathers' abode in the skies he roared to bring his presence out. His father, Vostaff, the god of skies and expanse, came down from behind the constellation of the horse. Worried by his sons unfathomable rage, he tried to console him. It seems to no avail. Anahat violently tore into his father's chest and ripped out his essence. Never had this happened to a god before. A death that would never be forgotten. He ate his essence and became Anihilinth, the servant of rage. With little control of his own thoughts, Erentis quickly took control of his energies and made him her companion. Many of the other gods and goddesses abhorred their actions but none could face the strength of Anihilinth. Erentis had a great victory that day. The object of her desire was hers and she continued to feed his rage with her own powers. The time would come, however, when bonds are shattered and others remade.
  4. The dearly departed: People who have died may not wish to leave the material plane. Their bodies have gone but their souls remain. Usually they stay around towns or cities. It depends on their life but usually they wish to carry on their lives oblivious to the fact they are dead. Hanging around people in doorways having delusional conversations with the people nearby. Sometimes alive people can hear them. Ciphers will pick up on them. They are usually harmless, only hurting themselves by not leaving. Sometimes they see people and hook on to them. This can result in a number of situations. 1: It inhabits the body quietly and does not disturb the individual. Living in its own dreams and illusions. 2: It realises the person is not communicating with them and tries to force communication by violently hurting their psyche. This manifests as nightmares or even aneurisms. 3. If the individual is susceptible e.g. the ghost may have caused the victim to go catatonic. The victim is possessed and the ghost automatically lives its old life again in a new body. Of course at this stage it's presence has become noticable to people who meet it. One ghost has caused a lot of chaos a few hundred years ago. A godlike named Askree had trained for most of her life as a mage. She had been struggling with split personalities but her tutor Sohur had been training her with meditation to keep her mind together. On an expedition to an ancient ruin with her mentor, she stumbled on a book that was barely preserved under dust and dirt. As a scholar of the dead language, she read the text and found the book to describe the creation of the universe. The more she read, the more she found it not to be allegory as it gave examples of certain sorcerers who had recreated the process in smaller fashion. Overwhelmed by excitement, she started an incantation, reading from the book. As her words diffused through the decaying hallways, the air dried up, and a vacuum started to form. Sensing immense forces at work, Sohur ran to his student. In horror, he found her, eyes widened, absorbed in her recitation. The sound of deepest thunder or deeper resounded from all the molecules of their locality. The almighty ohm from the creation of the universe. Sohur had to stop this before their own reality gets erased. He struck his dearest student on the head with his finger, unlocking all the mechanisms of control they had placed to keep her mind together. At the same time he introduced a paralyzing fear which drove the different minds into their hiding places leaving Askree unconscious. Sohur felt his reality bend under the forces that had been so pushed in one direction and now stopped so suddenly. The air shimmered as the last of the vibrations gradually quieted. Askree was never the same again. She spent the rest of her life in one or another of her various personas. Due to the shock of Sohurs attack, she had developed many more personalities than had been present before and they clung on to their identity with grim determination due to the fear they constantly felt. She died only a few years later. However, she did not depart to the other side. Her soul wonders still, but due to her personality disorder, is able to invade many hosts at the same time. At one time she had taken over the bodies of the entire population of a small village. Each person carried a different personality and they communicated with eachother as if it were a real village. However, they were all under the control of one soul so could not go far from eachother. When a passing adventurer found the village, he knew something was wrong and questioned one of her personalities. Instead of recognising the truth of his words she quickly dispatched him with a mob of her hosts. Eventually the villagers died due to starvation. Askree wonders the world still. A powerful cipher would have to face her and reintegrate the different parts of her mind. On top of this, when she is made whole, she will try and recite the words to create a new universe. This will destroy all of the current one. Of course, she cannot do this without the vocal chords of a host body. If she is able to comprehend words and listen to reason, then maybe she will leave this plane. Until then, she will be a danger to even the gods themselves.
  5. The Twins Garupa and Svanne: Sister and brother. Aliases: "Night and day", "Dark and light", "The storm and the eye". Portfolio: Masculinity and femininity. Yin and yang. The duality of reality. They have no enemies or allies as they are inherent within all living and spiritual beings. Symbols: All forms of duality represent them but where they become one is where their presence is felt the most. The twins were born in the beginning from the cosmic One. In their presence, the universal physical elements came into being. They both love and hate their individualised forms. In one moment, longing to be together and in another, wanting to be as far apart as is possible.Their actions manifest in many forms throughout the world and beyond. When the tide gently caresses the shore it is Garupa stroking Svannes' shoulder. When an earthquake splits the lands asunder, it is Svannes' fury unleashing upon his sister. They are never seen seperately as individuals in physical form. They are too spontaneous to remain physical for long. However, ancient rumors exist of a silent hermaphrodite who walks the planes of existence. Speculators suggest that this is the manifestation of the two as one. When, in those rare moments, the twins merge and are at peace. They are present in all moments of all time. They are inherent in all human interactions and, whether for good or bad, all actions are representations of their cosmic play. This is why they require no offerings or even recognition. An individuals recognition of him or herself is acknowledgement enough.
  6. I dont get it. He wears little clothing because he is a minimalist monk with few possessions. He's balding and wrinkly because he's old. There looks to be a sadness in his eyes. As if he doesn't want to fight but does so for the greater goal whatever that is for him. Looks like a pretty good base for an interesting character to me. I also like how he doesn't look like your regular joinable npc. I wouldn't say he looks weak but I think the way a character finds strength in spite or because of a said weakness makes them extremely interesting. A trend with a lot of martial artists is their longevity i.e their ability to maintain high physical fitness in spite of their age. So, to me, Forton isn't cliche or completely ridiculous. He's just right even wih the kung fu pants. Calling him horrible looking and old peasant is a bit silly. Someone mentioned bad character design. A good story to go with the picture would solve a lot of issues.
  7. Betrayal is only one of the many different kinds of interactions the party can have. Planesape Torment spoiler: I suppose betrayal is a really good mechanism for creating interesting party dynamics. What about a character who's a bit ditsy and says something antagonising to the guild your trying to appease. As you come out of a cave a band of warriors are surrounding you. They look ready to kill you. Their leader says: "Halt! I would know who you are lest we slaughter you on this spot!" As you think of something to say Ralph jumps in ahead of you: " Why good sir! We are here to rob you of your pockets and chase your women folk." As Ralph starts laughing the leader shouts: "Right, then. Chaaarge!!" Obviously he missed the joke. Later you can talk to Ralph about when and where it is appropriate to talk, or tell him to leave or kill him. Or something better. Just something interesting and new would be good for PE, I think.
  8. Inventing new monsters may not be too hard. An animals abilities and features are related to their environment. So it would be cool if they looked at the environments they were creating and thought about what creatures would evolve and be successful in them. I assume this would naturally lead to original ideas.
  9. I just deleted my comment on how censorship is the death of democracy. I'm just going to let this go. Phew. I feel better now.
  10. I think the main story is meant to be a sort of whodunnit mystery. Or am I wrong? Some incident occurs at the beginning of the game and we have to figure out who's behind it. I'm sure it'll be good if it's main story or side-quest.
  11. This was great to read. Thanks. I feel that leaving it in the hands of the team will lead to them fulfilling their own dreams as to what this game should be about. These guys are talented and creative as hell. We all know this. Now, for the first time ever, they can create something without constraints. No intrusive publishers or timeframes. I really hope the fans allow them to do their thing and not try and force their hand like the publishers have done. I know they want fan input but I say that whatever this team creates will be something heartfelt, deep and completely satisfying. Imagine, before planescape torment was released, if the fans forced the hands of chris and co. to create something more like baldurs gate. Everyone would have missed out on the spectacular novelty of that awesome game. Just saying, from what I'm hearing, some fans want repetition instead of something new and chris and crew seem to be wanting something different. These guys are more than just good at doing something different. Leave them to it.
  12. I would love to see different endings that happen due to the decisions i make in the game. I can never play an evil character in most games because it just doesn't make sense for him or her to save everybody at the end. I didn't play mask of the betrayer but I loved watching the evil ending. It felt really satisfying. From a roleplaying perspective, I think different endings are important to conclude your specific, original character. Obviously, they can't make too many but a handful would be nice.
