  1. This is no golfing simulation game ... it's Dark Souls: Prepare to Die by Bogey. Loaded up the special Seasons mode that came with the swank collector's edition, which includes levels for Beginner, Amateur, Pro-Am, Pro, and Elite. Proceeded to pummel the field by 17 strokes, advancing to Amateur expecting a cake walk twirling my eight iron. First up, ocean-view bluff links with 570yd Par 4's and pencil-thin runways trapped with sand on both sides. Made great time until the second Par 5, five-putting across a humpty dumpty green. Still, sixth place overall... in the running. Next course, desert wind, where you can watch the flags flap the other way in about four seconds. Either this game is the most fun and challenging thing I've played, or it's totally stupid and I hate it more than anything. Right now at the Atacama Club, playing the so-called Amateur season, I'm +7 after 14 holes, in 26th place. Winning. In fact I agree, The Golf Club, 38th place is very uninspiried. Still gonna play cause I freaking love this game.
  2. Genuinely untrue. eww, okay, political threads, must leave, got a fantastic golf game to attend ... handicap is down to +3.1 ... whatever that means ... something about added strokes for being awesome with balls and a shaft
  3. Okay, whittling away the handicap. From 21 down to five, all on the same course. Shot 69 last round with an eagle on the second and two chip-ins. Longest hole-out, 131yds ... less skill, more luck. Longest putt, 31ft. Getting the hang of going up a club, adjusting loft, dropping her in. John is as witty and matter-of-fact as ever. Still hearing new sound bites after sixteen full rounds.
  4. The Golf Club PS4. If simplicity can be both addicting and challenging, then I've found it. Just like real golf, no tutorial, no hints, only trial and error, mostly error but a few birdies so far. There's an announcer commentator companion voice named John ... for a minute I thought, am I online or something, is this damp Canadian gentleman watching me play, how could there be so many voice files. More than anything it's a fun game to learn and get the hang of.
  5. I do love points. I win every time against Newcastle.
  6. I've heard tell Ocean Beach's initialism also stands for Only Bums (Pacific Beach: partly bums; Mission Beach: mostly bums), but I had a great time last night at OB Noodle House, a pho-tastic eatery with house-made flavored sake and a gajillion beers on tap. Ate the entire Special. The hot wings were freakin' HOT. And no bums, other than a few very well-contoured.
  7. How curious. Is there a thread title, in the event a passer-by passes by.
  8. Chargers GM looked positive after trading up for Melvin Gordon. Could be good. Maybe even an era. The stadium that Gordon built ... has a nice ring to it. Edit: In fact I'm so pigskin nerd charged with hope I finally nabbed Danny's jersey. Little guys rule!
  9. Forgot to mention the best purchase of the year so far, a badass Punisher bottle opener, complete with magnets.
  10. Go for it. You know if he got a contact adress? Justin is super personable, he would likely answer a PM, maybe check this thread and send a polite message. http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/75268-tip-of-the-hat-to-justin-bell/ By the way, isn't there an end-credits sequence ... I haven't finished the game yet but I would think there's a voice credit list?
  11. Hand-written note taped to a machine. Seems legit. Apology accepted.
  12. Wait, what, no way ... Aloth, Edér, and Iselmyr are the same actor ... Also, I agree, Aldhelm is incredibly well-voiced.
  13. Back in mid-March when Barry stops a tsunami and Iris confesses her love and I think the first time Cisco was killed for real, but not, and some other stuff I can't remember but was really cool.
  14. TBETFE Tie Best Episode The Flash Ever Also, SHIELD. Uncut long shot of Skye Black Widow-ing a bunch of Hydra goons ... glorious.
  15. I haven't done this quest yet, for some reason, but hopefully this image from the strategy guide helps ...
  16. Me too, love the guns. Nice change of pace, or addition to the goings-on rather. A critical hit with an arquebus exploding the target, couldn't be more satisfying.
  17. I think you may have broken the internet with this post, perspicacity level 11. Couldn't agree more or have written it better.
  18. As soon as they make an all-black smartwatch that when I yell into it, an all-black self-driving Trans Am spins around the corner to pick me up ... I'll buy it.
  19. No way, I tried that Sam Smith Nut Brown last night at a place called Plan 9, in Escondido, where my buddy rests. Or maybe it was the night before, at The Flying Pig in Oceanside. Things have been a bit hazy since we dropped off his wife and son en route to Brasil. I despise pickled anything, but still ordered an appetizer from TFP wherein multi-pickled vegetables were tempura fried ... no. Why ruin perfectly good asparagus et al by soaking them in sour vinegar ... I'll never understand why people love cats.
  20. Guess I'm the only one drinking lately. Which is fine, I have no compunction against the compulsion. Stone Brewing Mutt Brown. Definitely a sipping beer, strangely more of a commitment than the above porter, 9%. My buddy sprung for a 33.8oz growler from the local Stone garden ... literally a rock garden with adirondack chairs, giant mushroom footrests, groovy lighting, walls of succulents, and essentially endless beer taps. And reggae music. Highly recommended.
  21. Miraculous. I had no idea this insane maneuver was even possible or ever took place. That's why. Still, though, thirty-foot seas and fifty-knot winds ... even the Distinguished Flying Cross seems like pale reward, wow.
  22. I went through Blackreach one time with the lights on. After exiting a Dwemer ruin door, I turned right around and entered Blackreach again ... suddenly all the lights were on in the whole cavern. I could see everywhere, no darkness. If it was a bug, it was the best ever ... that place is freakin' inky black.
  23. Yes it is, Bagby Beer Co. is three blocks away from LTH on the Coast Highway, fifteen minutes by foot from my house, or 0.6 seconds by motorcycle. It's no London, but if you come for a visit, dinner is on me.
  24. So many groovy new establishments lately. The last five years have seen a huge influx of cash and quality brew pubs in coastal Oceanside. It used to be all pawn shops and jarhead barbers along PCH, but craft brewing and good food have invaded to a welcome delight. Tonight, checked out a place called Local Tap House ... LTH. Tried the Ale Smith Nut Brown, superb, then Mother Earth Cali Creamin' Vanilla Cream Ale ... again, it was no pumpkin peach ale, but still decent. The brown was the best, but only in the absence of scotch ale on tap. Food wise, tried the 60/40 chorizo/beef burger. Not bad, a little too intense flavor. Like a smack in the face compared to that one up in Manhattan Beach. The venue itself is top tier ... a whole new contemporary coastal pub/kitchen chic is doing most everything right. The wait staff shirts have a printed stamp just above the back hem ... "Tap Something Local."
  25. I am an idiot. Less than an hour from Anaheim, California, and I didn't go. Next year, SW Celebration is light-years away off-planet in London. I missed out on Guernica and Frozen Slave Leia. Photos, Comic Vine
