*Missing String xxx* Mega Thread
CottonWolf replied to Aarik D's question in Backer Beta Bugs and Support
I can't work out how to upload a screenshot, but with a ranger boar pet in the active effects for the pet it says: "Tusks: *Missing string 15*" -
I'm not sure. It feels like a pure beguiler probably puts out more consistent CC than an ascendant, at the cost of focusing purely on that at the expense of damage dealing. Though the ascended window is very long. E: Though thinking of it, how much of that is that I deliberately build beguilers to be better at CC, I don't know.

Your Tiers List [Base Classes, Subclasses]
CottonWolf replied to theBalthazar's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
I think stalker's in a pretty good place at the moment, given the full attack plus 20% damage per tick from wounding shot. Upgrade it to accurate wounding shot and you have a basically guarenteed double critical with melee weapons. Spec into the pet side and basically have a the ranger play like a rogue and the pet act as an off-tank to soak up the damage. Allows the ranger to dump con and res (which is partly made up by the stalker bonus), while the pet keeps its base stats (i.e. is pretty tanky if you choose boar or bear). -
Bumping, because this still isn't fixed, as of beta 4.

Riposte currently triggers on a miss only. This made sense in beta 1 when most skills had no graze. Now that global graze has been brought back this skill rarely to never triggers. Was not changing it to on graze when grazes were brought back an oversight or a design choice?

Which I generally agree with. Multi-class characters are going to have a lot of fantastic syngery and more options in combat, but single class characters will still be the purest form of the class, with earlier and more access to higher tier abilities. The only problem is how it will shake out when you are max level and everyone has access to power level 9 stuff, regardless of single or multi-class. But by then the game is over for the most part, so it probably doesn't matter. Also even in that case, a single class character had access for hours and hours of gameplay before the multi-class would have, so in many ways single class characters are early adopters and beta testers for new abilities. Multiclasses can't get any skills above PL7. So single classes should keep the advantage in pure power, which has to be made up with clever synergising in the multiclass case.

I could be that Berath, Rymrgand etc. were gods that were previously believed in before their creation and the Engwithian's decided to instantiate them, while Skaen, Abydon, Woedica and the "newer" aspects of the pantheon were created whole cloth by the Engwithians at the time of the creation of the gods.

[Beta4] Unarmed and Devoted
CottonWolf replied to theBalthazar's question in Backer Beta Bugs and Support
This seems like the best outcome. And yeah, Devoted/Monk is really good at the moment because of the stacking of transcendant suffering and the devoted bonuses. -
Yeah, I reported this last beta. The pet's stealth score appears to be using its base score, rather than using the ranger's score. I have no idea if that's intended behaviour.

[Beta4] Unarmed and Devoted
CottonWolf replied to theBalthazar's question in Backer Beta Bugs and Support
Devoted automatically get the bonus with fists. -
It's not disasterously powerful as far as I can tell, but a monk/devoted now gets the devoted bonus on fist attacks, as all characters are specialised in unarmed. This also means that the fighter specialised weapon passives apply to fists too.

Anyone know if it's possible to roll back to a previous version of the beta? I'm trying to work whether mac performance really has decreased or if I'm misremembering how well it ran before.

Cool. Cheers. And yeah, in the UK the bank holiday's for Good Friday officially. Most people aren't observant anymore, but we keep the religious days off.

Is today not a holiday in the US? It is here in the UK.

I remember it being reported that if you complete all Gods’ quest you survive the fall, even if you didn’t make a promise to any of them. Josh said a while ago, that it is impossible to survive the fall without making a deal with one of the Gods - I assume it is a bug. Never attempted it myself. If that it is a bug, it's a very well supported bug. Once you've completed even one god's quest (irrespective if you pledge to them), you have a quest update pointing you to burial isle to jump into the pit (and you survive). Narratively, completing the quest is what grants you their trapped souls on the island to carry you down, the pledge to become their champion is something extra.Huh. Interesting. Once I get to the end of my current play through I will try different things and see what happens. I was convinced you need to pledge alliance to one of God’s to get their soul’s support. I'm about 90% sure that's the case. I don't have any saves at a point where I can fire it up and quickly check though, so I'd be interested to hear whether I remembered right.

That is an amazing joke. 10/10 Obsidian, would have 5 hour conversations about the meaning of the universe at parties again.
-
Anything juicy?

We goons will cling to our sinking ship until it eventually goes under.
