Josh Sawyer's tweets and teasers, part III
CottonWolf replied to Amentep's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Good on Josh for standing up to that stuff. We have the same issues in academia. Also, interesting confirmation that the audio came in super late. I assume because the voice acting choice was made pretty late?

Which player paladin order would support animancy the most?
CottonWolf replied to MaximilianXimenez's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)I'd say Boeroer's right. If you can weaponise it, Bleak Walkers.

Why I think a fully voiced PoE:Deadfire is a mistake
CottonWolf replied to Gairnulf's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Based on the beta, I wouldn't say anything was noticably different than the way Pillars was written, so I'm not too worried about "dumbing down" for voice acting. More generally, if forcing lines to be read aloud reduces the number of lore dumps, I'd say that's a good thing. A lot of Pillars could have done with having less but more punchy text, rather than more.

Axe modal : bleeding cut
Arcane Veil-Riposte for rogue/wizard combos is really good, because AV pushes deflection high enough to actually get reliable misses.

Black Isle Bastards: Any News?
CottonWolf replied to Katarack21's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I thought they were the Pink Isle Pirates now? The Black Isle Bastards are gone, I tell you. GONE!

Josh Sawyer's tweets and teasers, part III
CottonWolf replied to Amentep's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Technically it is not. The studio that made The Witcher 3 (CD Projekt Red) is owned by the publisher (CD Projekt). Like EA and BioWare/DICE/Motive/etc or ZeniMax/Bethesda Softwork and Bethesda Gaming Studio. Those gaming studio have no independence from their publishers. I was out technical-ed! I thought CD Projekt Red was the parent company.

Josh Sawyer's tweets and teasers, part III
CottonWolf replied to Amentep's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)By that logic Witcher 3 is an indie game. But it's okay. I know you feed off the lulz you get by trolling like this. Technically it is. All we're pointing out here is that indie is a functionally meaningless term.

Josh Sawyer's tweets and teasers, part III
CottonWolf replied to Amentep's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)On accessability to new players, don't forget that Deadfire's bringing in Tyranny's tag system, so people'll be able to mouse over the names of in world things they don't have the context for and get it explained. And really, beyond the names of factions, Pillars' story isn't too complicated. Just make it clear that the gods are super AIs and you can speak a forgotten language in the introduction, and everything else could probably be picked up through context.

The Mage Slayer penalty is wrongly applied in game or wrongly documented in character creator
If this is a bug, that will be changed too. Because it's only half duration because of the 50% beneficial effect duration reduction.

Your perfect world state for PoE2 (NEW QUESTIONS UPDATE!)
CottonWolf replied to Messier-31's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)They cut a lot of stuff from the game, including being able to get Iovara's soul to help you in the fight against Thaos in exchange for freeing the Forgiven souls. This might be one of those things. Oh, I had no idea that was going to be an option. Interesting.

Your Tiers List [Base Classes, Subclasses]
It's weird that Steel Garrote paladins and Priests of Woedica clearly exist in the code (and based on the patch notes for beta 4 are still being actively developed), but aren't player available. Perhaps it's DLC stuff.

Paladin orders and their influence on gameplay
Yeah, I agree. Same with priests.

About Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire...
CottonWolf replied to Cathmor1973's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)It's in the content warning, so probably? I seem to remember hearing that rendered male genitalia are confirmed, probably for NPCs in the bathhouse.

What multiclasses have you played with so far?
I just had a fiddle about with spellblade (wizard/streetfighter). If you build into a melee build it's really good post-level 7. Throw on Arcane Veil, dual wield a weapon type with +ACC to make up for the fact you need resolve to push your deflection higher so can't really invest in PER, then just get surrounded and kill everything with ripostes. It'll be even better if riposte gets changed to on graze in the final version. It might actually be even better with a priest of Wael/streetfighter, as I was only really making use of Arcane Veil, rather than the other wizard spells. I didn't think to check whether riposte triggers while casting, if so, it would be a great buffer/DPSer.

The Deadfire Scavenger Codes - WE FOUND THEM ALL - Cutthroat Cosmo! - Bonus Pets!
CottonWolf replied to Ethics Gradient's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)If you enter the code and they get hidden in the world that's cool. If you just get them that's bad and it completely breaks the difficulty curve. Especially as we have a ludicrous number at this point.

Rogue rework thread
This was my understanding too.

The Mage Slayer penalty is wrongly applied in game or wrongly documented in character creator
It appears based on the description in the character creator that the Mage Slayer penalty has been changed from a -50% beneficial effect duration to the same chance of spell failure occuring on beneficial spells cast on the Mage Slayer as hostile spells. However, in game a global -50% beneficial effect duration is still applied.

Character Creation: Still Kinda Not Great
At least each tab was clickable in Pillars.

Does anyone else get the feeling that deadfire is more goofy and gimmicky then pillars
CottonWolf replied to master guardian's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)The stuff in the beta was actively ungoofy. Starvation, human (well aumaua) sacrifice and cannibalism. Dark.
- What do you want in DLCs ?

rogues do not suck
CottonWolf replied to Gromnir's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)E: Completely misread.

[MAC] Major performance issues (unplayable!) with recent BB4 update
I'm also getting this. It's not unplayably bad (and definitely better than other people here are reporting), but considerably worse than the previous betas. 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2 GB, running OSX 10.13.3.

Why no priests of other deities, such as Rymgand, Abydon or Hylea?
CottonWolf replied to Stardusk78's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)As many scholars follow Galawain. He's the god of hunts, both literal and abstract. Research is hunting.

Berserker Spirit Frenzy not modified by Berserker subclass
It would be weird if this was intended, as it's a straight upgrade. And I seem to remember in previous version is did apply Tenacious and Hardy.
